- In this video we diagnose the reason why an electric power window won't go up or down on a Nissan Maxima. Many power car windows are designed pretty much the same way and can usually be fixed fairly easily with only a few simple tools and some time. Ozzstar shows and discusses the process on what to do and how to do it. Don't let that stuck window ruin your day, fix it easily the Ozzstar channel way! Thanks for stopping by the channel. Congratulations. A man who can actually make a video that can be understood and shows excellent details.
Thanks David!
Good advise - you never want to break your rubber! 😁
Those are my favorite kind of fixes - no money spent, and no driving to the parts store. That's a win-win! Good job getting her moving again. 👍👍
Yes! I have found that just cleaning up the old motors and regrease everything works a lot better than replacing with the aftermarket junk.
I've opened up motors that have lasted at least 3 years and still going. Gotta love NO PARTS NEEDED! 😂😂😂
@@CubasAutomotive - Nice, Cuba - good to know! Thanks! 👍🍻
Yeah man, breaking that rubber can be emotional. Thanks for the classic hanger you mailed me. I got a big kick out of that one and so have a few friends I showed it to!!
@@ozzstars_cars - HAHHA! Great man, glad you liked it! Everyone got a kick out of it here as well - always struck up a conversation, LOL! I knew you'd appreciate it. 😁👍😎
Who just knows this stuff? I mean, I know your basics from changing flats to radiators. Oil changes to fuel pumps. But I mean, who teaches who first? The builder or the driver? This is amazing work.
Thanks for the comment!
Thank you brotha you've saved me from spending an unreasonable amount of money for something so simple
Glad it helped Rickey!
There are a few reasons why a power window stops working and i hate the fact that you can take it to a garage and get ripped off telling you its one thing when it was just a minor repair. Thats why i like to watch you tube videos and get informed prior. Ive replaced a power window switch myself before but never the motor. I'll leave that to my mechanic guy. Thanks so much for the clear instructions it helps so much!
A few years ago a friend of mine had a Ford Windstar that was nearing it's end of life. He called me one day and told me his drivers power window wouldn't work. I went over to his house and hit the bottom of the door with the side of my clenched fist while pushing the button. The window worked perfectly. A few days later i asked him if the window was still working. He said, somewhat. When i asked him what he meant he said that his foot was getting sore because now he had to kick the door to get it to work. 😁
A couple of days after that i gave him a lift home from the crusher. Problem solved!
Nice job, Glen.
I have a feeling your friends van had more than a window issue. Haha Thanks for that story.
@@ozzstars_cars HaHaHa The whole van was an issue.
Great video great step by step instructions. Was a tiny bit boring here and there. But on the whole it was a great educational video. With a voice over. And no Highly irritating dance/rave music like I’ve seen others do on here.
It's hard to resist dancing while fixing a car window. lol Thanks for the comment Richard!
I miss vehicles where you just manually roll the window up or down.
The good ol' days right?
Me too! Mine decided to act up 3 days before a holiday!! 😫
Yep the good old cold days. I’m slowly coming around to the electric seats. It’s good to cook your balls.
Your very realistic individual. You call it like you see it. my right passenger window does not go up or down. I'm thinking bad motor. Thanks again.
Thanks Jeremy
Thank you! I bought budget car with no working passenger window. I fix it without any money in less than hour. Great!
Nice going!
GREAT VIDEO. I have the same problem with '98 Accord V6 sedan R RR window. Likely I have to replace the motor. I need to buy the tools and die-electric grease and sulucone lubricant before getting started. Thanks again, I could not have done the repair without the help of your video.
Thanks again.
Glad the video helped you out and good luck with the repair!
Thank you for the great video and thorough explanation on this subject matter. You made it look easy and doable for the mechanically impaired.👍🏽👍🏽
Glad the video was helpful!
Nice job! Windows on the van are so slow they may as well be stuck - but on the upside the door regularly takes itself apart :)
Sounds like a classic!
No parts required. Ivan will be proud 👍
Ivan is the true master of repair without parts.
That's a good thought, to use tuck tape when putting the vapor barrier back on. I found the OEM sticky putty at an automotive paint shop, but it's expensive for what it is. Now I have enough for hundreds of vehicles, ha ha.
Nothing like a good seal to keep the gremlins out, right?
Nice one Glen 👍 that Astro light is a must have for jobs like that.
Yes! It's excellent for those narrow or tight spaces! Love that thing!
Cuba's Automotive The Milwaukee tools under hood light and Astro light paired up together is perfect.
@@HowtoAutomotive LOVE the Milwaukee lights! The color of light, especially. Yes, I'd have to agree. Great combo!
Yeah Brian on the days it doesn't flicker. lol Overall it's been a decent tool.
Oh yeah you said it Cuba! haha
I tell ya, if you go the extra mile like you did on this one you can save the owner some money. Nice job Glen. Miss you guys. Eric or someone over there needs to do another meet up. :) Of course there is always Super Saturday.
Give me a shout anytime, you have my number. I still need to register for Super Saturday, on my list to do and it's a long one.
@@ozzstars_cars- Super Saturday ends up on my wife's birthday. 😖 Go figure!! 😒 I wanted to meet all of you.
Coming from a 50 yr. experience Auto tech, now retired , when a motor like a rt. rear window motor sets unused for a while in dusty and damp and hot conditions the result can be the brushes tend to really to stick to the commutator almost like being tacked to it. In most cases the right rear motor is less used. Been there 100's of times.
Experience matters a lot. Thanks for your comment.
Great presentation. We'll articulated and explained. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
very informative and helpful video - thanks a lot i hope my fix goes smoothly too and not have to pay around $500 for someone who'd do the same thing, which i can also do. my car's a 2003 honda odyssey and yes i can hear the clicking but the driver side window's not going up. i asked some shop if they could do it but asking me $500 for it. i'm like yeah in your dreams! that's why i decided to do it myself.
Let us know how it goes!
Nice diagnoses and repair Glen.
Thanks Jim
Nice work fixing that window regulator. That's a helpless feeling when they stop on you.
Thanks Lloyd
Nice work Glen! Little jiggle here and a little jiggle there on the motor and magic. Looks like you’re good to go now. 😀👍
Until it craps out. lol
Hello, great video. I am facing issue with my rear left side power window. When I use driver side master switch, it will come down but not up. Rear switch is working fine though. Problem is not with the driver side switch, as I checked it by replacing with other. What do you think?
Have you checked for a broken wire or corrosion in the circuit? A wiring diagram will be helpful to find the problem.
I will use a multimeter (just ordered it) nstead of a test light. What should the digital read-out show? How many volts or mA and on what setting do I out the multimeter?
14:06 reminder for myself only
Most car window regulators work on battery voltage, 12V system.
The 2 people who disliked this video are probably the same people who did nothing in the group project and then complained about it being shit.
💯% Thanks.
@@ozzstars_cars I did thumbs up before the video end ... thanks for sharing, appreciate so much! This video help, as I need to help my kid's car with the same issue.
Fantastic job man!!! Glad your now able to get it down 😆 that can be awkward... but more importantly... getting it up makes life more enjoyable lol otherwise that would be a nuisance for sure! Great job.
😂😂😂😂
Going down and getting it up. It's really important for success. lmao Have a great weekend Will.
Maybe you would care to be more specific about what you mean by getting it up ? makes life more enjoyable lol
All at once my 95 ford explorer passenger side and rear window stop working. Driver side is working. What’s going on?
Time to diagnose!
How do I keep the window from dropping while I remove the regulator? I have a 2010 HHR. Can I remove the motor without removing the regulator? Thank you!
Most guys use tape if there is a window frame, otherwise remove the glass. Usually only 2 bolts or clips
Nice one bud , I'm satisfied too👍
That's also what she said. 😁
Great job Glen! Nice to be able to fix and not replace ☺️ I have a door lock actuator on the blink but it's a curse to get to and it's not serviceable as far as I know. I can hear the clunk but it's not moving. Probably has something to do with my mom slamming the door on the seatbelt 🤔😂
Moms' can be strong, especially when they are mad. lol
I got some suction cups that hold the glass up. Not sure who makes them .
If you remember Ken let me know her name. haha
Great video man!
Thanks!
Had my 03 Audi factory harness driver side cut has sim after market wires don’t know if this is the reason ?
Any repair that obvious would be suspicious to me.
You are a “Great Man”. Thank you for your video. Best wishes 👍🍺🥜💐
Thank you
Thanks for the information.
@@BarthPatani you're welcome!
great video,, i notice other take the window out or put tape to hold it up.. i see you didn't have to do that..
You may want to watch the video again but this time don't skip. Hint 6:20 mark
@@ozzstars_cars my bad , i did skip through . thx
Hello sir i have a question, is the right and left window have the same fuse? My left window is working but my right window (driver seat) isnt and its not making a motor sound when i push the switch up and down. Thanks.
It should be on the same circuit but confirm with a wiring diagram. Use a test light at the drivers door to see if there is power AND ground. If there is then you can test the motor and switch. Wires can break where the door hinges are so keep that in mind. Good luck
@@ozzstars_cars Thanks for the help
When he kept asking for the clip I kept pointing at the direction it was at 😂
My nissan power window stuck in up position cant to the bolts at the window mount how do i get it down got dead motor an regulator
I'm have a gmc 2007 driver front window I'm replace the motor regulador all windows works perfectly except for the driver window
Test it before replacing.
Good job, lots of info I needed.
👍
Good work Glen !!
Appreciate that Norm, have a great weekend man!
Having this problem drivers side NISSAN WANTS 230.00 TO DIGNOSE!! Said under 1000.00 to repair if wiring
Excellent step-by-step demonstration. Thank you!
Thanks Charles
Excellent video! Thanks for your hard work.
Thanks, I appreciate your comment.
Great job Good advise
Thank you
Great video glen
Thanks man
You made the video well, thank you!
Smacked my motor with a hammer on the driver side door and it works. Thanks for the advice
Now you know the trick. Keep on mind it's usually only a temporary fix. Are you going to replace the motor?
Good job
Thanks!
The fonzie trick did it for me ty
Nice! ✊
Nice fix Glen, brought that motor back to life. Gotta love it...
What do you think of the C8?
For now anyway. 😉 Thanks man. When I saw the C8 in person I thought it looked sexy overall. Tremendous performance. I won't buy a first year GM product but maybe in the future. What do you think of the C8?
Ozzstar , Glen love my 17 Grand Sport and intend to keep it and the more I hear cautions me on the C8
GM has many failures over the years I can get an allocation at my local dealer but I’m hesitant as I worked for Chevrolet years ago as a line Mechanic at a local dealership. And being that the car hasn’t been reviewed by anyone other than GM engineers I am cautious..
Thanks for the help bro.
👍
Very helpful 🤙🏻
Clean the rubber for the window and spray silicone on the rubber window track.
That's always a good idea.
I enjoy this video..
How much do you charge to do a job like that? I went with window express & they charged me $195.
Including the motor, that's fair.
My window will not go down. I replaced it with a new window actuator motor and still the same thing happened. It will go up but will not come down. 😩 Any more suggestions to get my window to go down? Thx!⁶
How do you know the window will go up if you can't get it to go down? Have you tested the switch?
@@ozzstars_cars Before I put in the new motor I tested the motor & it went up, however I can't recall testing it doing down. I installed the unit into my Honda Element and it went up & never came down. I hear the power in the up position but when I press down nothing.
@@ozzstars_cars I'm going to open up the old motor like u did & see if I can get it to move.
When I hold the button for 10 minutes. It totally disables the window and will not go up or down
10 minutes?
The cable on the motor is broken.its in a not.so I can't get the window down far enough to get it out.theres not enough room to get the motor out.HELP.
The window glass need to be up to get the window regulator out.
Vapor barriers can be the worst part of the job! =(
I say let the moisture do it's thing. lol
Self taught fixing cars or schooling
Self taught. I worked with experienced mechanics when I was a teenager. Also lots of reading and studying, videos also.
1st boom
I don't expect you to ever be 2nd. 😄
Looks like a Toyota door pannel
None of my windows will go down. They are all in the up position.
Wiring diagram, I'd start by checking fuses, then relays, or the master switch.
@@ozzstars_cars Thanks, that's what I figured... If only one had been cracked open a bit.
You so called window experts fail to state why the main window switch can effect the other doors? There much like three-way switches in a house know aren't they?
Who is you? I'm not a window expert.
A bit of elbow grease and Bob's your uncle.
On to the next fun project.
You dont have a power probe glen you should be ashamed lol kidding brother
No I don't Antonio, Power Probe never sent me one for free. LOL
@@ozzstars_cars lmfao never sent you one for free shit I payed for mine
