Coming back to this and seeing people say how weird it was like 6-8 years ago is fun, if this guy came back people would be so happy, Gotye wasn’t appreciated as much as he should’ve been.
Never thought I could relate to this. I quit my customer service job just one month in, they made me work one more month, had my last work day yesterday. Such a relief!
What's cool about the video is that it feels like a real a really old time and I just like it! Also how gotye has part inthe song where he is talking to someone and he is waiting
Saw him live last week. So talented and he plays all the instruments , jumping from one to another. This video was the backdrop live. Wife had her pic taken with him as she adores Gotye!
I heard this song on Triple J in 2008 and immediately started adding his stuff to my library. When "Somebody YUTK" came out I was like, "I knew this guy before he was cool, man."
I can't help but think the hasty response once he cursed was a nod to the rumor that if you curse while on hold they get back to you quicker, if so, Gotye you're a clever bastard!
I'm currently in a waiting line trying to cancel a flight ticket because of covid, listening to this to pass the time. The shitty robotic voice on the other end of the line fits perfectly in the song.

Well, no prizes for guessing the sort of experience Gotye had which inspired him to write this song.
"Just put me through.....F**k it!" The appropriate response to almost every VRU in existence. One of the best songs ever written!
