- The A340 is back! Lufthansa is one of four remaining commercial carriers to operate the A340-600 on a regular basis. You made an economy review interesting - great video!
Thanks for watching as always, Boarding Call!!
I had to wait soooo long for the LOOOOO Review. I was wondering if those were still in service! Awesome!
always loved the a340, got to fly the -300 version to Seattle from Frankfurt. Really gonna miss it when it goes extinct
Thanks for the super video and all the information. Flying Frankfurt to HK this summer in this plane. First time long haul. I've been scannning the internet for videos like yours. Brill!
First time long haul?! That’s very exciting, you’re going to love the A340 👍🏻 - and thank you for the kind words 🙏🏻
9:38 The 200/300 variants. The 500/600 are indeed Rockets.
That landing is quite good
Hahaha right?!!! Like a feather 🪶
@@flaps1019 yes!!! I went on the A340-600 from Lufthansa to Hong Kong 5 days ago!!! It was amazing
Flying the same plane d-aihu today to Munich aswell
Awesome - safe travels and be sure to check out those basement lavs
I will fly LH720 next month on A340-600. Hope they don’t change aircraft
A 280 seat A340? It looks to me like all of Lufthansa's A340-600's are currently configured with 297 seats (which is still rather low for an A346). Let's call it three hundred.
Love Lufthansa’s welcome: Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Children. ☺️
Conviasa It is a Venezuelan airline
I am flying Lufthansa for the first time (also on a A340-600). I appreciate that your review was thorough yet concise! Does Lufthansa include lounge access with its international economy tickets or did you get that through a pass?
Thanks Stasha - good question, lounge access is not included but I have the Amex platinum card which gave me access to the centurion lounge in Charlotte and the Lufthansa Senator lounge in Munich. If you have Amex or a priority pass membership (perhaps thru Capital One or Chase credit cards) you may be able to access a lounge at your departure airport or connecting airport, but otherwise you’d have to pay for access
Nice that you asked the stewardess! Nice report even if it's only ECONOMY!!! LOL!! A340 is almost Epic!!!
Delivery/ livery ?

I fly this route usually once or twice a year for the last 9 yars and it's usually packed on the way from Munich to Charlotte, but only half to 2/3rds full on the way back to Munich. I'm guessing it's because of the increased popularity of CLT as a Hub for the lower eastern states...
I'll be going to Charlotte in April again, but with AA717 this time. American Airlines it's usually cheaper than Lufthansa on this route, and so I've got Premium Economy on the way to Charlotte for just 100 bucks more than regular Economy on LH428. Not sure what I'll do for the return flight yet, as there's a high chance that Economy will be half empty...
Interesting data point - definitely curious how LH makes it work given lack of connectivity options in CLT. Also looks like LH swapped the A340 for the 350, might be seasonal though. Enjoy premium eco on AA, I'd say that is definitely the move if only 100 more than economy
@@flaps1019I don't really get it either. CLT is a major hub for AA, but not for any of Lufthansa's Star Alliance partners (only one I can think of would be United). Maybe BMW with it's plant in SC has something to do with it...
Lufthansa has shuffled between the A340 and A350 in the past years, when I started in 2015 it was A340s, during the pandemic they've used the A350 while the A340s were mothballed, then they've reactivated the A340s again... I guess they still got some years left, if the demand for new planes stays on the current level.
Heard you say you were going to Tel Aviv. Hope you’re safe now
That's right - I flew CLT-MUC-TLV. And yes, I am - thank you 🙏
which seat were u siting in?
I was in 53K
Sir, this is the priority check in lane, please put away your camera
What do you mean the WiFi isn’t enough for video streaming? I was playing League of Legends game in the middle of Atlantic ocean on board of LH 747-400! I had a latency of about 100000000ms but still scored a kill!
😂 that is incredible I literally lost it. Reminds me of those old RCA connectors (or AV idk) that old airplane seats have, I’ve always wondered if I could bring a video game console onboard and hook it up to the IFE
how do they make money on this route? well probably from trying to charge an arm and a leg to upgrade despite the empty seats :S
Good point - I think the biz cabin was pretty much full on this flight so they must have found a few takers!
Yo is that a US Airways livery?
Hahaha yes it is, good eye!
Since Lufthansa's US Star Alliance partner is United, why do they fly to Charlotte, an American hub? It is probably because United has no hub in the southeastern US (except Dulles, but that's pretty far north).
LH has been flying to CLT since 2004, long before the days of AA being the hub airline. US Airways was a star alliance member so I’m sure that lured them in initially. Also BMW has a plant not too far away in Spartanburg, SC although I’m not for certain whether that has any relevance to them continuing service.
Thanks for sharing! I flew the A340-600 last year to Bangkok. I like the downstairs lavatories. Its more spacious and to have them all together in one spot is more efficient as the chance to get the next free washroom is higher.
Flying eco with a vacant neighbor seat is almost as good as premium eco. In PE you can not utilize a vacant neighbor seat as the arm rests are fixed. Anyway, nowadays I try to book PE as a compromise between cost and comfort, and sometimes C, if there are cheap tickets available.
Still wondering what's the best upgrade strategy. Fixed price upgrade, bid, or ask at check-in.
A340-600 is great, but now its time enjoy the A380 as long as it is still possible.
Of course it's airbus/Lufthansa, and it is always nice; if it is United or Boeing, its crap!

Its against tha law to film in the security control. Thats why. There are signs usually.
Nice video thanks, but you talk too much.
Swiss and Edelweiss still fly the a340
Yes indeed - I believe they fly the -300. I was referring specifically to the -600
But A343
"the main reason for flying economy is the peopel"🤣
come on, bruh
Lufthansa is the worst Europeans airlines their service sucks I always fly business class and I must say for about 10 years they are saying they are going to have 1-2-1 seats in business still till today they have it on only few EX Philippines airlines planes and few 787s its sad but they are so behind compare to other airlines and by the time they have 1-2-1 again they are going to be behind because Qatar is going to introduce better business class in near future!
