I got a CX-90 commercial...go figure!
friiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeennnnnnnnnds.......
I don't understand why they are marketing that car to young single women and not young families.
Because Chevy markets the suburban to singles@@JamesR1986
Supossedly Pontiac is coming back to the US of A, with a V8 Hybrid 600+ HP car!!!
Could you imagine a Hybrid Solstice to go against the next gen Miata
@@The_HugoNout except the solstice build quality is absolute Total garbage to the MX-5. Nobody can compete with Mazda on that segment. Those that have tried have failed miserably.
I just wish they would make an actual 6, not that rebadged Chinese product
I don't think that model will be sold outside of select markets. Sedans just don't sell well anymore in North America and Europe.
The rebadged chinese Mazda only makes sense in China and a few select other markets.
@electrikoptik Toyota Camry would be a direct competitor to a Mazda6, and it sells very well. It's more brands do less sedans unless for luxury.
China can suck it!
@@electrikoptikSubcompact and large sedans are almost dead (I don’t think Crown will last), the midsize sedan is dying fast even though there are still strong sellers but luxury sedans and compact sedans are still doing fine
I also wish they would deliver a Mazda 6 with 3.5L engine, they could re-use the CX60 mild-hybrid engine for it and make it RWD, it would be an amazing sedan type!
I’m so happy to hear that Mazda is climbing on up! i’ve had my CX 50 for a year and a half already, and I just love it more and more every day that I drive it!❤
P.S., Kirk, I saw David Chow’s video on the quality build of the Mazda’s. Great video!
Same!
Mazda might as well upgrade the CX60 and ship it to the US.
YES PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!
The CX-60 would never work here. It’s pretty much a compact crossover and would start in $40’s and that’s luxury territory. And as we’ve seen with products like the Stinger and Arteon, if a mainstream brand is priced too close to luxury, consumers would rather just get luxury.
Time to give Toyota a real run for its money.
Toyota has a stake in Mazda and if Mazda sources hybrids system from Toyota, a win for Mazda will be a win for Toyota as well.
@@wyw201 They have a 5% stake in Mazda, related to the .5% stake Mazda has in Toyota. It's required by US law to operate joint ventures (the Alabama plant).
Mazda doing well doesn't necessarily mean Toyota does well, especially if Mazda takes away Toyota sales. Toyota will get a payment for every hybrid system bought for the CX-50, but Toyota would make far more profit putting it in a RAV4 and just selling another unit. They're only doing it because the Corolla cross coming out locally in Alabama is a good move for them and this was a term of the agreement.
@@markcoopers1930 Would be great if Mazda takes away sales for Toyota. That would send the right signal to Toyota.
Toyota company is so many times larger. 😂
Hmmm i think Mazda’s now targeting Audi and BMW customers more than Toyota’s. Cross-shopping with a Toyota is indeed possible but i’m more interested in its ascent into a more premium niche in the industry. Some of my neighbors have finally gotten their hands into CX90s and Cx70s beside their Mercs and Lexuses.
I've owned 3 RX-7's and 2 RX-8's and would absolutely love another rotary powered car! ZOOM ZOOM 🔥
Wow, cool cars!
Rotary + electric motors.
I was at Mazda HQ in Hiroshima last week on the factory tour. I saw one prototype car being driven around the company premises, but it was an MPV.. damn.
I would totally buy a Mazda Mini-Van! Mini Vans > SUV. What I really need though is a Mazda 6 & Rx7
I remember the commercials for the rx8
I'm sure Mazda will update the Mazda3 eventually, but I think it still looks beautiful and modern. I've been enjoying my 2023 Mazda3 Turbo for over a year and I still love the car. People compliment my car all the time.
The only real update it needs is a hybrid drivetrain but I know that will wait until after a hybrid for their CX 5 at the earliest. My guess is the current gen 3 will have a 7 or 8 year old generation.
IMHO, Mazda3 is the most beautiful car on the road. Even Gen3. Not sure why people would want to change that timeless look.
I am surprised that Mazda is going to sell the next gen CX-5 and CX-50 together here in the US. I want Mazda to win.
CX-5 HEV - bring it!
I had a 2006 MX5 special edition and agree its a luxury vehicle. The fit/finish, gaps, the way the top worked and became very silent when up with no air noise or water leaks nothing. For a convertible just unheard of. That little car was built stupid good. May be small but its a halo car for Mazda. And I bet they never build that outside Japan. Facts.
Bought a CX-50 turbo end of March, $4k off selling price and 3.9% rate. What a car, however I would’ve preferred the CX-90 since it is much roomier. It’ll be the upgrade in a few years.
Still waiting on the Mazda 6!
same here!
They're allowed to do anything they have to with the crossovers to keep bankrolling the Miata. It might as well be the halo car treatment
Way underrated brand, and this is coming from a Subaru owner!
A small to mid size truck would sell huge in US.
Market is pretty saturated, and by brands that have been making them for decades. Given the Santa Cruz is probably similar to what Mazda would make (they can't import the Izuzu built BT-50), the Maverick is more popular than even Ford wants it to be, and there's strong rumors a maverick or Tacoma competitor from Stellantis made in Brazil will be announced soon, they would probably do better to put out a midsize Sedan and stake a claim in that chunk of the pie. The Maxima, legacy, Malibu, Chrysler 300/Charger, and the hot versions of the Accord and Camry leaving us has left a sizable gap in the 29k-48k/200-300hp range
@6:45 IIRC, when the CX-50 was launched, they said a hybrid based off Toyota components was coming. This makes sense since the CX-50 is built at the joint-venture plant with Toyota. Since CX-5 is built in Japan with the CX-90 Mazda-developed hybrids, it also makes sense that a new CX-5 hybrid would use its own design and supply chain from the CX-60/70/80/90s.
CX-5 hybrid system will likely share very little with the large product group. It will retain a FWD platform.
I need the Mazda 6 successor, my money is waiting Mazda.
Everyone say it with me....M A Z D A 6 🙏🙏😭😭😭
New mazda 6 cmon !!!!
Very glad to hear the CX-5 is getting its own hybrid power train. For the average Joe the Rav-4 Hybrid in the CX-50 will probably be adequate but it will be getting a CVT. Which is a complete non starter for the enthusiast crowd. Really hoping the CX-5 retains a traditional automatic transmission and makes more power than the current Turbo version.
Ecvt. No physical belt. Two electric motors in the casing with two gears inside.
More reliable than a cvt with less moving parts.
@@kevinW826 yeah the reliability isn’t the problem. It is still going to feel super numb and uninspiring. Which is the opposite of Mazdas brand image. The whole reason I bought my turbo 3 is because they know how to make an engaging car.
They should sell the Mazda3 and CX-30 with SkyActive-X engine in North America. They already make this for Europe, it's more fuel efficient than the regular SkyActive engines. With demand for hybrids being high, this should be a no-brainer alternative to developing a hybrid (which takes time).
Cx-50 Hybrid🙌🏻 it’s a miracle!
Love the channel! Awesome content, just wondering why there is no information about ford as about japanese automakers (sale reports, numbers, etc.)?
Should I get a CX5 2.5 GS this year or wait for the hybrid? Would that be much more expensive?
@KirkKreifels, Do you think the 2025 Mazda CX-5 will be redesigned (next generation) and offer a hybrid powertrain, or do you think we'll need to wait until the 2026 model year?
It’ll be for the 2026 Model year.
2026 likely
We definitely need a new Mazda 3. Especially the hatchback. Although I like the hatchbacks design, the rear roofline and visibility is impractical. My current 1st gen Mazda has more room/visibility.
-Increase the rear roofline.
-Add 2.0/2.5L Toyota hybrid engine.
It’ll allow it to compete more with the Honda civic hatch/sedan and add even more reliability. Especially since the civic hybrid is coming soon.
I've recently moved to Japan and I'm very much looking forward to the CX-80 later this year.
It seems like their comments leave open the possibility that the e-Mazda hybrid powertrain is serial hybrid ie range-extender. Hope so. Any info? Thanks.
What’s taking the hybrid so long? I was also excited for the rumor of a small rotary engine as a range extender. Maybe that was scrapped due to emission concerns.
I got 23 white mx5 with recaro & brembo pkg 4800 off the msrp lol. It was the last one 23 model and they wanted to get rid of it. Great low interest rates too. Awesome car!
Love this brand
The only thing that would get me excited for this brand going forward is a all new 4th generation Mazda 6.
Your thumbnail game is through the roof. Love your reaction shots
Go, Mazda! Woo-hoo!
What I'd like to see is a Mazda i6 sedan and sportback. The sedan would be the turbo mild hybrid and PHEV options, and the sportback would be the turbo S option. The sportback would look like the AI rendering from PoloTo.
I need a Mazda 6 with the I6 and a next gen Rx-7. I have money waiting for both but I don't know how long I can keep my current car with 300k+ miles going. Hurry up Mazda! Also, two things I hate on modern cars is the flush /hidden door handles (uncomfortable!)..... ala Tesla, and the plastic black trim over all the fenders!
Getting excited over Toyota is like getting excited over Wonder Bread. Sorry Kirk.
Why so down on Toyota?
@@2004cyrus Subpar, overpriced, lack value and reliability is now gone.
We have CX-50 just love it very quality build best deal at price point.
I’d like to see how their hybrids perform in their smaller cars. Miata, 3’s, cx-30’s. Fun & efficient?
I'm finally getting a Miata... after my midlife crisis has passed. Too bad there is no senior citizen discount. 😅
i thought this video was about the new concept Iconic SP lol or id hit the thumbs up button for ya
I learned last week from Mazda that there will be in Europe a 2.5L 130HP (Gazoline, non turbo) for the CX-30 in Europe. Totally unexpected. 2.5L engine were only with the CX-60 and now CX-80.
No mention anything new of the 2025 Mazda 3 or Mazda 6??!!
A dealership is still a dealership no matter how dressed up the facade is.
Perception vs reality
Despite the fact that it rolls like a Lexus as a new owner of a Miata it's quite far away from luxury. Especially compared to the GTI I traded in for it.
Keep hearing about Toyota/Honda/Nissan “suffering in China, but they’re still some of the dominant automakers there.
I love Mazda, but I loathe the people that sell them here where I live…
Personally I'm Hoping that Mazda Will Offer a Hybrid Engine for Every Model, eventually 😮🎉🇺🇲💕😎.
Yeah but where is the RX-9? :)
Maybe upgrading my CX-30 to CX-5 hybrid in the future.
I’m not excited for Mazda. 70/90 too big, 5/50 too small. Needed the 60.
Yes. I need the 60. I don’t want or need to drive a monstrous 70/90. Im hoping they rebadge the 60 to the CX-5 and call it a day! Should’ve brought over the 80 instead of rebadging the 90 into the 70.
You sound like Goldilocks lol
I would like a smaller cx50, I Guess a cx40? Styled like the 50, drives like the 50, but right between cx30 and 50 physically.
Too small
Hybrid, Hybrid, Hybrid, for now it’s the future until solid state batteries get developed.
The sad thing is manufactures have been saying solid state for the last decade and it hasn’t happened yet. I wouldn’t hold my breath to be honest.
@@kevinW826 few of the Chinese EVs already have semi-solid state batteries, we are getting there.
Cool
I hope with all this money coming in, Mazda can soon drop another sports car product so that I can stop eyeing other brands
They already increased the price by thousands for the higher trim cx50s
Don’t kill the manual Miata!!!
They need to get rid of the plastic wheel wells
When do you anticipate knowing what the next Mazda 3 hatchback?
Mazda is on a roll because they don't sell cars that people don't want = EV
and here i thought they were struggling and were going to bring prices down :(
If i find the car was made in China and imported here its an automatic deal braker. I have to accept my made in china iPhone but i have so many choices for cars to not buy China.
U know why i like ya, Kirk… it’s cuz u like two of my dream cars: MX-5 and the LC500. Of the two, who is ur #1 & 2?
That's like saying which child is my favorite.
@@KirkKreifelshahaha! Good answer. You passed the test. You are now He. You are now Him. 😜 Yeah, can’t go wrong with either!
So next CX-5 is a plain hybrid and not a PHEV. Glad I didn't wait for it.
This presentation doesn't say that. It's possible they just haven't announced the PHEV yet.
Mazda should bring CX60 hybrid and PHEV to North America; MPG & emission data for CX70/90 fail to impress
Interested in seeing the hybrid cx50, but not with the rav4 engine. Toyota hybrid tech system makes sense, but that rav4 engine is rattly and underwhelming. Don’t kill the soul of the car.
We need a new mazdaspeed
Won’t sell enough so won’t happen
I guess, I'm keeping my 2010 Mazda 3 till 2027 then 😅 I recently shopped around and found out that my old Mazda is still in many ways better than new Toyotas and Fords. I only wish it was a hybrid with an eCVT.
Gross! eCVT? Why in the would do you want a Toyota Mazda. NO! We want soul, don’t ruin it.
@@2004cyrus , because eCVT has 30% of the parts. It's more reliable. For me, Mazda's soul is its beauty (inside + outside) and reliability. Fun to drive is another thing, but it can be achieved with eCVT.
@@solderbuff that’s horrible. They will never do it for some silly 3-4 mpgs. I’ve owned and have many Mazdas and if guys like you want to kill then I’ll leave. You go buy the other, Nissan or Honda or Toyota if you want to drive a crappy appliance with all that mechanical trickery. You should be ashamed to be trying to get an amazing brand to castrate themselves. You are like a bad politician who is destroying what few good pleasures we have left. I can’t with you. Thrilled you aren’t in charge. Wow
The roofline is Low...And build quality is different than CX5...
I dont think the Mazda3 needs a redesign. it matches all the current new vehicles in styling, the CX-5 and ND (mostly the interior, I love the ND exterior but the interior feels quite dated now imo) need updated.
Unemployment is not low. The reason people don't want these jobs is because they are crappy low wage jobs. The entire reason car companies build manufacturing plants in anti-union southern states is because those locations have few worker protections. This is really the story of the entire US economy, but the media will have you believe that US workers just don't want to work, which is nonsense. People are just tired of working for low wages while their employers are making billions in profits.
Thank you sir.
I’m so glad out of all Kirk viewers, you actually understand that workers aren’t lazy and lack better wages, and protections from their bosses. Thank you for your comment.
I’ve heard workers at these plants are paid pretty well tho despite there being no unions
@@thomas735 As much as the local Arby's cooks I hear
@@markcoopers1930 not true
hybrids just another reason to jack up the price by 5000
MX5?
Kirk, I would be truly excited if Mazda would introduce a new 'joint venture' Mercury Tracer. 😁
Mazda is a nice product. I would look at them were I shopping. With 200k on my 2009 Honda Fit set up to be my towed car behind my motorhome, I hope to get another 100k out of it. Then probably back to a Prius, but will see what Mazda has then. Sold my 2011 Prius with just over 200k and NO….NONE…. Problems ever. Great car. But as I had to keep the Fit as a dingy, sold the Prius for a good price.
300hp Miata? 500hp RX9? 🙀
Unpopular opinion…it’s worth waiting for the NE MX-5 to decide between that and an ND.
All I want is a Mazda 6 with an inline 6 🥲 I know it won’t happen but still holding on to a sliver of hope.
no more Mazda6?? I'm still hoping for non-SUV PHEV options from Mazda.
You have to decide for yourself. If you are stressed about your monthly gasoline budget then get the naturally aspirated 2.5 model, traditional vehicle.
@@2004cyrus nah I want some ev-only range. Where I live, our grid is 100% hydroelectric power. EVs make the most sense here, but I do want a small battery pack for weight and cost reasons.
@@ThePilotGear what about cold weather causing your car to be stuck like happened to so many recently?
@@2004cyrus stuck? why? We livein Canada and had a few big dumps of snow. Have a few colleagues who have eGolfs, Kona EVs and Mustang Mach-Es. No one got stuck and everyone had plenty of range to do what they needed to do. Funny enough; the only guy who got stuck had a Silverado 5.3...
@@ThePilotGear Here in the USA we had thousands of Tesla and various EV owners and it was so cold their cars would not start so they had to sit and wait for the temps to come down and find transportation home from work it wherever they were. It soured a lot of people. Also, there is nothing green about manufacturing EV’s. And China owns the mines where the rare earth elements are dug out by slave labor. There is massive amounts of waste water created making the batteries. And our grid can’t handle many more EV’s and we don’t have enough charging areas. And then there is the politics of it, the government wants to keep people’s travel limited and the eclectic cars can be remotely turned off by our government. It’s not happening yet but it’s in the legislation that our president signed. Basically they want Covid style mandates and the government doesn’t want people driving / traveling a lot anymore they want us staying close to home and not taking state to state recreational vacation. They can use those EV’s to achieve Covid style lock downs. There is more than that but most of our country sees what is coming down the pike. If Biden gets re-elected we are screwed.
yes, Mazda dealership sucks. They are trying to sell luxury vehicles, while the service is worse than Subaru.
HEY
baitclick
I think the Mazda SUV lineup is too cluttered.
CX-5 is starting to feel out of place in the naming scheme. Maybe it should be rebranded as CX-40.
Just roll with it. Not a big deal at all.
EVs not wanted * Big Government wants it .

You end up sitting in the corner grumbling about it.
I woke up on the bitter side of the bed this morning!
One thing nobody talks about Mazda is how small they are not built for the average American size family other than the new cx90 and cx70
Its not Mazda’s fault Americans keep consuming junk food and keep getting bigger every year, Mazda lineup size is perfect, you know America isnt the only country that Mazda caters to
There was a time honda accord then was a family car and just as big as a civic today. Not meant for fat ppl
The average American family is 3.13 people. American families got on with VW beetles with less space for decades. If an American is basing their purchase decision around how much McDonald's they want to consume that's not on Mazda
@@markcoopers1930- your McDonald’s comment - ROFL 😂! Haven’t been to a McD’s myself in probably 20 years now.
They should stay budget luxury with their lower trims and have full blown luxury with the higher trims.
If Subaru will rely on Toyota for electrification, will Mazda follow suit?
Without a truck Mazda does not offer any model that I would be interested in. Nice quality.
Wonder if America will ever get the cheap Toyotas the rest of the world gets. They're rebadged Suzuki and are $10000 to $15000 new... Vitz, Starlet and Rumion
Thank your government
I thought Mazda was doing great because they were NOT wasting money on EVs.
Honestly Mazdas look so boring
I dont get the Miata market. Its slow, its ugly, its a mazda, its expensive? It doesnt even have Civic SI power lol 181hp for $35k yikes
..it's not a Super car or Hyper car. It's a true 2 seat sports car with a stick. Remember the old MG, Spitfires, TR6 and TR7 ? That's what the Miata is! No other car in North America is like it, that's why it's special.
It’s slow, it’s ugly but it’s fun. I’ve driven lots of fast cars but the Miata always leave the deepest impression. Nothing like it on the road anymore.
It's easy to understand once you drive one on some twisty roads.
I couldn't even fit in it with my 6'2" frame. My knees couldn't get under the steering wheel. Love them otherwise.
