Damn. This makes me more frustrated about riot not making the ban system good. If we can't ban toxic daily users in the game, then we can't ban ddosers.
The problem here is, that there's no way riot can find out, who ddosed who. First, ddos makes your internet connection unusable and third-party can't tell, if someone ddosed you or if you just unplugged your internet and second, the person who's ddosing doesn't even have to be in the game. He can find random person who's currently in game, find IP of someone who's in that particular game and ddos him.

I know it's sounds out of place, but the game can make the person's address secret to others and only the game developers know. Had something like this happen to me in a game a little while back. Me and some friends are playing when suddenly I freeze in lane, can't move or do anything. At first I thought maybe I lagged out, but then everyone else said they suddenly stopped as well. The catch is, while I was stuck, the enemy team was not. They got a free kill off of me before they eventually froze up as well. A couple seconds later and everyone from either team was back in the game. Very odd and frustrating experience.
The worst comparison of this I’ve ever experienced was a Lucian a few months back had a connection where anyone of our team that got within range of him would DC immediately. They ended up winning when close to our whole team DCed or had major lag whenever he was involved.
LOL! I remember a drop hack happened to me and some friends a lot ago. We were in a pretty close game, went into a tf and won 5-0 (none of us died). When suddenly we all disconnected from the game. The enemy team also disconnected. And when we went to our match history that game never happened. We thought it was connection issue, since we are from LAS but were playing in NA

Same here. Had to hotswap to my mobile connection which is better protected from UDP pakcet flooding. A good VPN works as well (lower latency) but costs money. I did have the culprit arrested because he was bragging about it. (He got fined, not jailed).
funny part, every user that buys a DDoS from the site can be easily tracked, police can just get logs from the site's server and find everyone who bought this attack in just a few minutes. if the attacker runs his own ddos attack without any proxy it's even easier. So it's very easy to track. And in this way you go to prison for wanting to win a game in lol

Riot should implement quick ip address and dns flush when players are being disconnected to discourage multiple ddos attack since ddos attack require a hacker to find ip address of the player. However it might has another risk, a hacker can hijack the connection, however, reauthenticating game login after flush can deter this risk away.
U actually could pause online games with the first ever Mobas like dota and StarCraft Blizzard made sure such features were applicable to players and also voice chat even before league had it 10 years before league could have it I guess valve is much better at maintaining Mobas tha. Rito
This was huge back when I played CoD(BO2). You simply use an ip sniffer on a free program, and put their IP into a website that can send packets. As long as you know your party's IPs then you can win ranked games with no effort. It got so bad you had to remember the DDoSers clans and people and dodge the lobby whenever you see them. Thank god I don't have that problem anymore, probably cause I was Masters in CoD and only silver in League :P

Its a small technicality but DDoS actually means "Distributed denail of service" wich targets more people, when targeting one person is actually just called DoS "Denial of service"
I have been DDOSed personally and also at times had games that been dropped hacked which the entire game/lobby did too this happened in ranked mostly and it did prevent game being in history and prevented MMR lost there are 2 versions of this drop hack as well but in this case, soon came to my conclusion of who did it mostly from my matches was the one that all had wins on there profile, they did it when they knew they where going to lose the match so they drop hack so they can pretty much get a redo on there game so they can win the next round so they do this to boost there MMR to climb the ladder just by drop hacking that's pretty fked and a douche thing people did. 2nd form of drop hack was there where also times where people would do this and only the enemy team was disconnected and made them also have the opportunity to push in to win as well allow everyone to connect as they where going to win that was another thing that happened a lot in ranked as well.
I didn't know it at the time, but I was actually drophacked in a game where i was about to get promoted to platinum in season 4. I was pissed since it made it seem like the match didn't happen when were winning, and eventually lost my series.
I played ranked about 4 years ago and i played vs someone whenever i got close to him i would get ddosed, this sums up he got banned a day later after i reported him

Still happens. We had a very good Nidalee player have to connect and reconnect 4 times during the game. I've been shunted out of games a couple times. Speed to CMD and change the IP and I'm back in the game. There's currently some sort of hack that will make a player's FPS tank. It's happened to me in a 5 man. All of our frames plummeted when our team started pulling ahead. Not super uncommon. I found that locking your fps to something much lower than what your computer can handle solves it. Not sure how they do it or how it works. The other one I've been noticing is during champ select. If he has to pick before you and you notice he's counterpicking your hover quickly change it to counterpick what he's about to select. It turns into a counterpick off until he has to lock in or dodge. I had a bit of fun with one of these guys making him try to counterpick me 3x before he had to lock in. I hover kindred, He hovers Yi, I change it to Warwick, he changes to Ramus, I my hover to Trundle, he changes it to Lillia. Susy baka. Rito?
I like how some people don't realize that DDoS'ing an IP would mean affecting the whole Internen connection, not just LoL, so the stream would go offline, their comms would go offline and stuff like that. Additionally, many people in various countries do not have public IPs, they are behind routers and switches and an IP available to public is not a personal one, but more of a locational so DDoS'ing such IPs would cut off the whole house/area, draw attention from ISPs and cause more anti-DDoS measures to be applied eventually. So, meh, RIOT can't control DDoS, but the fact that it's available for people as a service is a problem. Drophack on the other hand is a whole different thing.
They can't do anything. The player using the same username for both LoL and Skype. And their IP was leaked because of Skype Riot couldn't do anything around it. Not only that DDOS means no internet
Happens in a lot of competitive games. High rated World of warcraft arenas and Rated BGs used to be rampant with ddosing. Saw it happen in CS a few times but I don't play it much. There used to be a free website that you could kick kids offline. I remember curse voice had first came out before discord and it cut down on people grabbing IPs
In a normal match I was in just now, this happened as well - we we re having a good early-mid game until enemy got baron then killed a drake right after. While my team was making our way to the drake to hopefully kill some of the players there, ALL of us got booted from the game. Some were typing in chat, confused as to all of us disconnecting and reconnecting repeatedly. I don't think any of us were able to get back into the game after that. But it was a weird time when all of us dc'd if indeed someone had drophacked. Especially in a normal game lol.

I used to do this on PlayStation using a program to inject the lobby for ip phishing and you are able to do many things from there not just DDOS but the program was shut down but it’s a lot easier than it used to be!
for those thinking damm thats expensive (the 2$/minute example) hes right about the price however it means thats how long each attack will last and you can likely do 1 attack at a time (its a subscription type thing often rather than pay per attack)
As someone who was in the ddos scene, it was so pathetically easy to just turn off a setting in skype that wouldn't allow your IP to be stolen that any of this happening was just an idiot tax of sharing usernames across platforms and not turning off literally one setting in the skype options
I had it back in the day when twisted treeline was a thing, me and my buddies played ranked we got "drophacked" later on when we logged in we saw that the match we played was defeat and obviously they won, all of them full build and lvl 18 while we stuck to 15-16lvl where got left off

Why is there no mention of the brief time that you could use codes to kick people out in chat? It has been a long time so I believe it was like season 4 but I remember it well. It happened to me twice in game. Flaming and then codes and kicked out of client.

During ranked games, not tft or norms, since last patch it randomly makes my internet "cut" but it still works for youtube and everything else

The player using the same username for both LoL and Skype. And their IP was leaked because of Skype
Riot couldn't do anything around it.
Not only that DDOS means no internet

Those DDos tutorials are kind of helpful. If you understand how the Dos attack works, then you can prevent it.

Happens in a lot of competitive games. High rated World of warcraft arenas and Rated BGs used to be rampant with ddosing. Saw it happen in CS a few times but I don't play it much. There used to be a free website that you could kick kids offline. I remember curse voice had first came out before discord and it cut down on people grabbing IPs

In a normal match I was in just now, this happened as well - we we re having a good early-mid game until enemy got baron then killed a drake right after. While my team was making our way to the drake to hopefully kill some of the players there, ALL of us got booted from the game. Some were typing in chat, confused as to all of us disconnecting and reconnecting repeatedly. I don't think any of us were able to get back into the game after that. But it was a weird time when all of us dc'd if indeed someone had drophacked. Especially in a normal game lol.

I used to do this on PlayStation using a program to inject the lobby for ip phishing and you are able to do many things from there not just DDOS but the program was shut down but it’s a lot easier than it used to be!

for those thinking damm thats expensive (the 2$/minute example) hes right about the price however it means thats how long each attack will last and you can likely do 1 attack at a time (its a subscription type thing often rather than pay per attack)
there was a time in the tr servers where people ddosed 9 people in a match and just win by themselves
As someone who was in the ddos scene, it was so pathetically easy to just turn off a setting in skype that wouldn't allow your IP to be stolen that any of this happening was just an idiot tax of sharing usernames across platforms and not turning off literally one setting in the skype options
I had it back in the day when twisted treeline was a thing, me and my buddies played ranked we got "drophacked" later on when we logged in we saw that the match we played was defeat and obviously they won, all of them full build and lvl 18 while we stuck to 15-16lvl where got left off

i had 2 games that this happen to me and when you get back in the game there no history of that match so annoying...
How did this guy get ddossed at multiple locations, did that Skype site give you the ips of every single location you logged in from?
Why is there no mention of the brief time that you could use codes to kick people out in chat? It has been a long time so I believe it was like season 4 but I remember it well. It happened to me twice in game. Flaming and then codes and kicked out of client.
This still happens to me like at least once a day I get ddosed
