when u say "esports" u mean "league of legends esport scene" cause espors existed before to league and dota, in fact one of the oldest scenes would be the fps community and the fgc(fighting games community) with tournaments back in early 00's halo,counter strike and mid/late 90's street fighter turbo 3rd strike ,tekken 3 etc. Yet the moba scene are more profitable, for having leagues where players have salary instead of fighting games where there's a tour and in order to make money u have to be at least on top 8 of a tornament.
Dont forget how many people they have to pay if a team wins worlds in league.. 5 players plus coaches, plus substitutes , plus other staff involved. Its more people than you think.. divided by at least 10+ people
You do _know_ that they struggle to pay for those team houses because the Esports organizations don't pay them what they promise them and then blackmail them with the unpaid money don't you?
i feel like the chinese team with the spaceship house isnt to cater to players but rather to show off how much money they have and how great they are, its a very chinese thing.

And when you think that food is paid for , housing as well, some basic expenses are gone so they save even more money . I genuinely laugh when people say they it's not possible to live comfortably when you are a pro player
