Bonnie Raitt is the most amazing and beautifully talented singer-songwriter, chick slide player! to ever live
Instead of duplicating the song she chose to redesign it. And instead of redesigning it as a typical Bonnie song she chose to change the time signature. And instead of making it unrecognizable she chose to add in her slide and use background vocals...brilliant
I have listened to this back in my childhood and never thought it should be redone. Guess what....This has exceeded all expectations! WOW! So freakin' good. Bucket list...to be able to jam with a sista since moving here to Florida. That's all!
Gerry Rafferty would be happy with this . Excellent
Don't get me wrong I love Bonnie but glad someone see's what I see THX calvin
Damn, what a underrated singer. If only she had more hits
also good guitarist
+Spoder Man good is an understatement
Legend
She's not underrated...she's a Grammy award singer.
Aniyah Jung definitely not a household name tho
The self absorbed, self proclaimed 'musical experts' here dissing Bonnie don't have a freakin' clue. This lady is an amazing talent and has more class, talent and soul and has forgotten more about music than you critics will ever know.
HELL YEAH! GET SOME!
Yes absolutely , she's a real, talented, touring musician and has lived the life , strong bluesy voice ,great guitar player [slide or acoustic] her live concerts on YT are a testament all that and more.
Finally a music video without pyramids, checkerboard floors, monarch butterflies, one-eyed sell-outs and illuminati clap-trap. Bonne Raittt is genuine and pure music and a fantastic arrangement of Right Down the Line. Love it!!
Lol yeah not everyone like symbology I guess.
I always loved Jerry Rafferty’s work, but I have to say that this rendition is phenomenally soulful and meaningful.
Best version
everyone on here complaining that Rafferty's original was so much better needs to just leave and listen to his version if you like it so much. Us Bonnie Raitt fans will stay here and listen to the legend thank you very much, bye.
I'm tired of remakes that try to sound like the originals... This is in her style and she made it her own.. YOU GO BONNIE!!!
R.I.P gerry rafferty
I love this reggae take on one of my favorite songs!! Bonnie Raitt _NEVER_ does what I call a karaoke cover, where it’s pretty much identical to the original (or most popular cover, and I’m thinking of Henry Nilsson’s cover of “Without You,” by Badfinger). Nope! Thank goodness, Raitt is way too good to do that, a consummate musician and performer.
Marvellous Bonnie from Spain!!
After a dozen views, I realized that whenever I get married again, I absolutely want Bonnie singing this song at my wedding (live would be the greatest imaginable, but recorded will be fine too ;)
you are, and always have been, my inspiration.
Great version of a timeless track! Bonnie made it her own💯💯
Bonnie deserves a like just for covering this gem.
Thank you Bonnie Rait for 35 year and more of great real music!!! Started listening to Bonnie when I was 16, saw her about 20 times, sang back up for her at Avery Fischer Music hall in NYC, best night of my life - she is one of a kind. Just read that Dave Grohl is a big fan - so happy for her new album's success. I love this woman and her wonderful talent.
Thanks Bonnie, for such an inspirational and open-minded video. :-)
Only she could DARE to cover that song and do it justice. Simply stunning....That City to City album means the world to me.
Agreed
she is by far the best and most unique female vocalist, you gotta love her voice and musical style....
damn straight!
I agree, not many artist can pull off a great live performance. She's a great example to motivate older folks that it's never too late to pursue anything!
Viva Gerry Rafferty ! Too bad we haven't a live duet with these two Rait/Rafferty. Cosmic ! RIP my brother ..Gerry. Alcohol got you...but for the grace of God, I have been spared.
I believe this was created just to annihilate my listening holes... I may never hear again after this vocal monstrosity.
Just saw Bonnie for the first time live, in Toronto, tonight. She was amazing (3 heartfelt encores!) and this song was perfect. Understated, true, no preaching, about love pure and simple.
I've never heard a voice that could so accurately define me more, over the years, than Bonnie Raitt. I love this woman. AND she's a SCORPIO. 'nuff said.
Anyone who can call love, 'propaganda' must have never experienced it. We should pity them, it must be a terrible burden to have to carry hate around your whole life...
gay it up? Really?Straight people are ALL over the media. Look at all the adds, all the shows! A show here or there, or a mainstream artist puts a couple of gay people in their video and suddenly we're pushing it into peoples' faces. What we are pushing is that we belong. That isn't gaying it up. It's showing that there is no difference. It might seem strange to some, but their world view is narrow and that is a shame. Give it 10 years, and no one will think twice about the people in this video.
Gerry Rafferty died awhile ago; so he hasn't 'do anything lately' -unfortunately. [He was also 'Matthews Southern Comfort,' 'The Humblebums', etc..]. Bonnie is still awesome after all these years. She adds more of an edgy 'bluesy' touch.
What a wicked cool version( AND by the way - to those who love to to fuss and hate..) a very sweet tribute from a great artist to a great artist. Thanks Bonnie!
Just loved the song! But could someone tell me the real meaning of right down the line? I clearly understand the lyrics that btw is real amazing, but i'm not american native and even though I can understand most of expressions I didn't get this one as clear to me as possible ;)
D'aw this is beautiful. :)
Beautiful song... Have the old LP from Gerry Rafferty... and Bonnie you have done the song justice and have honored the music of GR. Most of us songwriters would be honored by you covering our songs! Thank you for many years of inspiration. Your voice gets better and better. For many of us "it's been YOU, woman, right down the line!" THANK YOU!! xoxxox Alice D.
This is one of my favorite Greg Rafferty songs and I had no clue Bonnie Raitt did a cover of it. WOW sing it Bonnie! You made my day :)
Same, right here!
@@StarKnight1Sunshine agreed!
Bonnie Raitt... love this women... love her music.. I have loved her since 1972 and will continue to love her..
thnx 2 bonnie for 40+ yrs of stellar talent - wishing her mega success on 'slipstream' - hope 2 hear 'take my luv w/u' everywhere, espec, on th top 10 - ♥♥ - ♪♪
Bonnie Raitt - Right Down The Line (Official Music Video)
Didnt like it sorry she is super talented but this version lacks the melody that makes rafferty song so amazing
that white steak through her red hair is kinda sexy though.
Bond, James Bond ~ Agreed!
Find it hard to understand those who slag this off. Rafferty's song was great - no one loved it more than I, but anyone with an ear, (soul), for the Blues has to love this on it's own merits. I often think that Blues women like Bonnie really don't get given the respect they're due because they don't fit with the Blues 'crusty old black-man pickin' on his geetar' image... Love her to bits....
It sounded like reggae to me.
They lack an ear for music. The beauty of music includes the different within the familiar, the unexpected within the customary.
I love it, love it, love it, I think I listened to it and sang it over and over for about 2 weeks straight, and the song proves one thing about love, it is what it is between whomever it wants to be between, it's as simple as that. Generalization in lyrics is the golden key to the lock of human diversity, played by one of the best artists in the business. Although I always liked the original, it doesn't hold a candle to this one, Good job!! :)
"Desde el principio"
Sabes que necesito tu amor,
tienes ese control sobre mí
Tanto que siga teniendo tu amor,
sabes que nunca me iré
Cuando quería que compartieras mi vida,
no tenía ninguna duda en mi mente
Y has sido tu, mujer, desde el principio.
Sé cuánto me apoyo en ti,
sólo tú me puedes ver
Has puesto algo mejor dentro de mi,
solamente me decepcionarían
Cuando quería que compartieras mi vida,
no tenía ninguna duda en mi mente
Y has sido tu, mujer, desde el principio.
She can play a mean slide🎸🎶☮️🌷🇺🇸🌲
Bonnie is the only artist th3at have held her own without skipping a beat! I have been a fan of her since 1973 and she continues to blow me away with her artistry. This album will be a gem to her already collection of soulful, bluesy magic..... love you Bonnie!
I always loved, loved, loved Gerry Rafferty's version of this song but I must say that Bonnie has done this song proud!!!
Love has one syllable, ❤️one heart, yet it's the most meaningful because it's a Universal word❤️ Faithfully❤️🤗❤️ don't forget turn the Page by Bob Seger is 3 words so yeah sometimes you do have to "turn the page" and just continue the story the next day, however way you want cause that's what I try to do myself sometimes, it's my best advice I can do...try, and never stop loving yourself because when you love yourself, you're also loving yah-self...get it loves❤️🤗❤️ I love the life HE gave me, and I do appreciate it always❤️ Everyone should if you asked me. Appreciate the life you have, and try to never take it for granted ❤️
the incomparable bonnie raitt
So beautiful. Such hear-felt vulnerability and honesty makes my soul fly. Thank you so much, dear Gerry.
Bonnie Raitt is top tier of any musician alive
I Absolutely love this Woman. She is a Great Hell of a Singer Songwriter, and musician. Super sexy guitar style they Bonnie you really put swagger on tht song.
@Bonnie Raitt Awesome Ms Bonnie thank you so much for the reply God bless you and be safe. ♥️
When I finally get married I will sing this as my vows, it's never been done before, instead of the traditional promises vows (which no one keeps) I am going to give you my reasons for wanting to share my life with you , it's a dream of mine for the longest.
I’m 31 years and counting and I can still proudly say I’ve kept every single vow 🥰😇. Not gonna lie it not been all roses and sunshine but at the end of every day, regardless of what’s happened through that day…we always say I love you before we go to bed..together. I can honestly say as much as he can anger me I still look at him sleeping and yes sometimes I want to slap him, as I’m sure some days he wants to too, but I still love him til death do us part. He is my heart and soul ❤️💞
Personally, I think that they are both great versions. Bonnie always chooses her covers with great care and it always shows. Love the diversity of couples in this video!
The only things bigger than Bonnie's playing, is her brain and soul.
Looks a lot the abandoned building in A Clockwork Orange
awful
then why would you listen if you don't like it? have respect for the legends you fucking doofus
@@knickstexansfan113 have respect for others opinions, doofus!
@@acidbrotherhood good one...
with a little reggae groove. Nice. good 1.
@Bonnie Raitt Wow. Thank you. I saw you at the Brickskellar in 93. Awesome show. Thought the dress you wore was a little skimpy though.
I fell in love with Bonnie's voice first time I heard songs. Sight unseen and yet I fell in love with her beautiful red hair ( have a weakness for red heads ). All other concerns posted for effect on this site diminish the expierence of listening to her voice. Love to you all.
I love the original, but Bonnie's version is sultry and she made it her own! Bravo!
You know I need your love
You've got that hold over me
Long as I've got your love
You know that I'll never leave
When I wanted you to share my life
I had no doubt in my mind
And it's been you woman
Right down the line
I know how much I lean on you
Only you can see
The changes that I've been through
Have left a mark on me
You've been as constant as a Northern Star
The brightest light that shines
It's been you woman right down the line
I just wanna say this is my way
Of tellin' you everything
I could never say before
Yeah this is my way of tellin' you
That every day I'm lovin' you so much more
'Cause you believed in me through my darkest night
Put somethin' better inside of me
You brought me into the light
Threw away all those crazy dreams
I put them all behind
And it was you woman
Right down the line
I just wanna say this is my way of tellin' you everything
I could never say before
Yeah this is my way of tellin' you
Everything I could never say before
Yeah this is my way of tellin' you
That every day I'm lovin' you so much more
If I should doubt myself, if I'm losing ground
I won't turn to someone else
They'd only let me down
When I wanted you to share my life
I had no doubt in my mind
And it's been you woman
Right down the line
Her voice is so emotional and her guitar makes love to the whole world. I love you beautiful Lady.❤️🎸😎
hey l LOVE (yep capitals) Bonnie , I just think she had nothing to give this song, lacked heart is all
i heard thi live at byron bay blues fest ,the sound she had that day was awesome , much fatter biger crunchyer ,great cover one of my faves rafferty songs
Absolutely love this and can't stop listening to it. I can't believe it's taken me this long to appreciate this woman's talent, but now I'm going back through her whole catalog. She is one of a kind. And still bringin' it at 62 with just as much passion and emotion as ever.
How am I possibly just hearing this now?
A song of innocence and experience by a doomed romantic sung by a great survivor .Saw her live in the west of Ireland a couple of years ago-what a great musician.Rock on Bonnie & all you joy bringers.
This is an awesome cover. Love the reggae. Just great.
A phenomenal take on one of my favourite songs of all time. Is there anything Bonnie can't do?
Beautiful, and a wonderful, soothing, and sexy voice!!!
This cover still blows my mind. So beautiful.
Guitar solo in side Mr George Marinelli 🎵🎶🎸 🎧
Love Bonnie. This is new to me today. All I can say is Wow.
Where are the cops because a murder has just committed.
How is this so underrated?!? Good music
There is nothing uncool about this woman.
She is great a beautifull voice and it is real a good song.
Bonnie is timeless. I love her take on this song. I appreciate her boldness and stand on how she feels about love. Many may not respect her openness to other kinds of love but I respect her and also agree with her. Keeping the blues spirit alive to this day. Love ya, Bonnie. Thank you for being such an inspirational artist and strong voice in music and in society.
Love the original and I love this too. Thank you
Love is a beautiful thing!
GREAT GEORGE MARINELLI
Bonnies talent is undoubted, matey, I still don't want to see snogging.......same sex or other ......on my comp screen. Thanks.
This reinterpretation is a daring choice. I enjoy the original far more, but this is a worthy effort-just what one would expect from Bonnie Raitt. Nice work.
PS. Who directed and edited this great video?!
jimmy, I know what you mean. Something's missing here. Maybe the recording has more passion than this particular performance.
Hello Catherine..
LOVE this song; the singer is GREAT too! Seeing love always warms the heart.
She destroyed this great classic... Changed verses.. not good.. don't get me wrong I like her music but when it comes to classics ..ya just can't change or disrespect classic music.
who's here for the mixing reference
Better than the original!
This isn't terrible, but the original is vastly better. But I'm glad Bonnie covered it, because I haven't heard this song in decades, and now I've rediscovered all over again how much I like Gerry Rafferty's original version.
Oh boy best cover right here it is
.yeah ... l dig what they did with this this - SOUNDS LIKE "ME" on drums though. Seriously
Bonnie you got this song down! Love the way you sing it!👏👏❤2021
Can't stop listening to this!
@jimmybluemoon; I agree to the extent that Rafferty's own version was pretty sleep inducing itself............that said...........All the way back to her eponyomous first album and Mighty Tight Woman and Woman Be Wise, Bonnie has done her thing with other's songs and made them hers. It's been a long time since then and for me Bonnie can still do no wrong.........Love Me Like A Man still rattles my skull like little else..:)
thats a horrible cover ,I'll take the original anyday, that slide guitar novelty bit gets a little old after 45 years, every song sounds exactly the same
Everything’s is great except the reggae feel. Takes the right mood out of the song.
She did Gerry proud , great song ,Bonnie's bluesy voice and guitar ,good band too.
I love Bonnie Raitt but this is poor in comparison to the late and great Gerry Rafferty's original version. I'm not having a go at Bonnie because she is in my top ten favourite artists of all time, but this is disappointing when compared to the original version. I really do wish that she had not covered this beautiful song.
The words were changed to make them universal. If they hadn't been, Bonnie would have been singing about being in love with a woman, which you wouldn't have appreciated either. I am pretty sure your criticism has nothing to do with the words, and is based purely on your distaste for the images.
calvintoronto says: "And actually, the same goes for Rafferty's later career. I am probably one of his biggest fans. But that doesn't mean I like his later/recent work"
As one of the biggest fans, can you expound on Rafferty's "recent" work, as he died over a year ago?
