That's a big song to do live with elegance - he pulls it off, and the vocal harmonies are beautiful. It's utterly Ron, that song. And from a great album. Ron's composed and performed many amazing songs of his own - from beautiful little vignettes to bolshie rock crunchers. Generally though Ron is just quietly cool.

After listening to Rock and Roll for 50+ years Ron is my favorite songwriter of all time. I think he also does great covers, usually better than the original. After meeting him a few times I think he is an even better human being than musician-which is saying a lot!
Once when we saw him live someone yelled to him onstage to "Smile!" His response was "I'm beaming on the inside". I think he truly is.

@@LaGrandeBayou not trying to be negative but the "laser tight lyricist" made me laugh.
Don't get me wrong, right down the line is an absolute favourite of mine but I always find the like "you've been as constant as the Northern star" to be such a jarring/glaring road bump in an otherwise smooth song. Could have so easily been smoothed out too.

That said, it's not the meaning i was picking on, just the mouthful and extra syllables that makes it sound really garbled and rushed in most versions of the song. The back up band is outstanding! The accompanying girls are also awesome. They all did Gerry proud. He's smilin' down on them for sure.

Not only is this done beautifully and that guitar and Ron Sexsmith’s voice is beautiful. I’ve seen him on Jools Holland and wasn’t paying music much attention. What an incredibly genuine guy he obviously is. No affectation at all and the whole concert is sweet. Like many I just played Baker Street and never went to the next track. I had the thrill of meeting Jerry as we both had a similar problem and I didn’t bother, him as he clearly wanted privacy. Poor Jerry dying in a horrible hotel room. Artists are special and many have addiction problems. Artists aren’t perfect people but they are special because if they are a true artist and alchemical mysterious and magical means produce phenomenal beauty.. There is and always will be a chasm of misunderstanding between the addict and the non addict. Drug addiction is a real thing. The people who self satisfiedly congratulate judge addicts or any addiction with disdain is a person who is at the end of the day an expression of pain. If you do not something they like

Erin Walter. Eva Cassidy, Nick Drake, Jackson C Frank, John Keats, Paul Gauguin, there are many. Writers, Painters, Musicians, Singer songwriters all criticised and or ignored during they're lifetime only to be vindicated and acclaimed as Genius in death. As Sexsmith stated, I don't want to end up like Nick Drake or Tim Harding. Thankfully there are those who do acknowledge genius in life. Genius/creative power or natural ability, Ron Sexsmith has both in spades, the mans a poet and story teller in song. a writer, poet musician and painter and I believe as his music proves a very kind, caring, sensitive human being and maybe that's been the problem for him and the aforementioned, just too God dam nice for this critical and hypocritical world.

I have watched a few of Ron's videos because I kinda like his smooth style, but his voice sounds like he is half asleep. At times, he is a half note behind. I still like him ok; but I am hoping that the more I hear of him, the better it gets.

I hadn't heard much of Ron Sexsmith's music at the time of this concert, but I'd been a fan of Gerry Rafferty's music for many years. This performance inspired me to purchase the recently released "Long Player Late Bloomer" album... and what an album! Needless to say, I have purchased many of his albums since then!

He should be much better known than he is. World-class singer and songwriter.

A Stunning performance by Sexsmith and band mates..Thank You for an absolutely stellar version of a timeless classic rock anthem of the 70s.
Gerry Rafferty could not have done Scotland any prouder.
