These AliExpress Xeon combos are really a great value for anyone trying to get started with causal PC gaming at a pretty low pricepoint. It's not the newest platform, and you're kind of limited in terms of upgrade path; however, for the price, it's a good place to start from and get at least a few years' worth of gaming before upgrading to something more modern. Solid build, guys (except that hideous cooler)!!

They are good if they work. Most of these boards have huge problem with overheating VRM's. I built one just a few months ago and had to install additional heatsinks for the VRM's as they were running at 80C which would eventually lead to early death of the motherboard. My board also came with two dead RAM slots so I'm stuck with dual channel rather than the quad channel I would've preferred.
Also worth noting is that get the V3 Xeon instead, such as 2670 V3. With a little bit of micro code removing and bios hacking (all tools and video available on youtube) you can unlock the cores. I'm running 2670 V3 at 3100Mhz all core without any issues.

That's a crazy good deal! I built one that I recently sold on my channel, but it had a better cpu, the E5 2680 v4, 32GB ram, 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD, AND a RX 5700, a complete build price of $320! I tested my cpu with Cinebench R24 and single thread while not great was decent enough. Where it really stood out was the multi-core score; scored significantly higher than the Ryzen 5 5600x!
Great vid again guys! That gtx 1080 was a helluva deal!

Honestly, most of the games you listed I have tested on high/to max settings and it was a smooth and 60fps experience on my $320 budget build but I got all the items during the singles day sale on 11.11 last year. My system now would likley cost around $100 to $200 more to build.
If you were looking for around $300 you could build an rx 580 8gb 2048sp with a ryzen 5 2600 that will be able to handle all those games. I have another less than $300 build on my channel that shows just that if you wanted to check it out.

Depending on your local market you can get a 1080 for $100-$120. Realistically this build is more like $300-$350 but still isn’t bad value all things considered, but do note you can’t “officially” install W11 on these machines without some registry editing (had to do so with my E5 2670 v3) so a common user may find trouble.

im an old man that JUST got into pc gaming and threw together a budget rig using an older HP envy I had. It has an i7-6700 and I added a NEW MSI 1660 super ventus xs oc, switched the HHD out for a 1tb SSD, and put in an aresgame 500w PSU. total cost for GPU, SSD, and PSU was $270 on amazon. would this 12 core Xeon build perform better than my current set up?

The Xeon processors can be used for gaming but its a workstation cpu. Your i7 is plenty enough for gaming in atleast 1080p. I would recommend a gpu upgrade to a 1080, 1080 ti, rtx 2060. If you go higher it will cause bottlenecking issues. The Xeon is a fine processor but it was not built with gaming in mind whatsoever and the speeds when comparing the two are very noticeable.

Nah, but they're great on a budget or for kids/teenagers I'd recommend you in one of those cases to get a xeon 2667 V4, and get a machinist P4/RS9 or the X99H 1.4V mobos + dual channel ram and rx 580 2048sp 😊.

    Used RX6600: $150.
X99 is a dead platform that gets ratio'd by 5600 and 12100F, and pretty much any skylake era cpu, for gaming.

Yeah I heard you an OC them never done mine. Only problem with XEONS for non techy is that sometimes the configs settings in games have to be changed to get the most out of them as XEONS are not optimized for gaming. I had this issue with Warzone 2 where it was configured to only use 2 cores so have to manually change a file@@shaunrattee224
