@@RealBLAlleyAang actually running away had much more depth than him going for a Sunday stroll on Appa and getting lost in a storm. Kataras entirely personality is gone. Sokka is already a good leader. Zuko doesn't have the same rage. Iroh doesn't even remotely feel like the same character. @@RealBLAlleyseems like you're the one that didn't pay attention. Enjoy your shitty live action adaptation. I'll continue enjoying the original superior show.
one of my favorite changes in this is they arent sending Aang away to another air temple to split him and gyatso, they want to send him to start his bending training with the water tribe, which is way more practical XD
Great reaction ~ I look forward to the next episode! This series is a total favorite (my dad and I binge watched it twice together). The show captures the “spirit” of Avatar, while telling its own, unique story that is just super fun. Live action bending, character development and twists and surprises in the story make this rewatchable multiple times. 😁 🔥
"Ahhh she's doing the thing!" Alright now Zhu Li! But I'm sooooo glad you're enjoying it. It's a grand ride for sure, especially since you've appreciated the original work. Try to notice the Easter eggs that pay homage to the show, as it is in every episode 😁
When I saw the released images of Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Iroh, I was really happy that he was chosen. He's great in Kim's Convenience and his role in the Mandalorian, they couldn't have picked a better actor for the job.
You’re one of my favorite Star Wars reactors on your other channel so it’s cool to see you create this channel to react to other great franchises like ATLA. As a fellow Star Wars fan, welcome to the ATLA fan base as a relatively fresh newcomer lol 😂
I'm here for commentaries and jokes from our grizzled wizard Kyle Katarn. Dude is a true gem among all popular tv/fim reactors, imho. Glad he is branching out from Star Wars. Haven't watched the animated Avatar, though despite not a fan of Netflix real life adaptation, I enjoy watching our man's super sharp takes on everything he watches. A talent to behold, and a blessing for audience.
I’m going to give them an 8 just by how freaking hard this show must be to adapt, and how high the expectations are. Really looking forward to future seasons.
My only problem with ep1 was Katara blocking Zuko's fire blast, she was to far away from any water to block the blast. But it was the live action way to display her water bending since we don't get the ship scene of her freezing the solders.
Also, it's was actually great and clever way to show how powerful bender she is. She just found out how to use her chi properlt to bend, and for a complete novice to reach that far and pull so much water... yeah, when you think that way, great way to show us that Katara is a powerful bender, soon to be a master.
@@ragingsithmaster Eh. I honestly think the idea that sexism was a vital part of his arc in the OG series is overblown. His sexism was mostly S1E2, and it was hammed up for the episode. He didn't show it much before or after.
@@ragingsithmaster If I hadn't watched a billion reactions to ATLA, I don't know if I would have noticed, but I've seen several recently and... it's not really that big a thing. I don't think that's 'horribly wrong,' but it's definitely a difference. It took me some episodes to adjust to the different characters, but I don't think that's at all a problem.
@@wtimmins I only watched the animated series once... something I should correct in point of fact... so Sokka being a bit different wasn't exactly jarring. Plus, the animation style was sometimes exaggerated anyway. Like his reaction when Appa sneezed on him, for instance.
Whoever they got to play Gyatso absolutely nailed every single scene he was in. Dudes lines and acting literally had me in tears. Them switching it up having Gyatso being the one to talk Aang down from the avatar state was an amazing little change
Interesting to consider that Gyatso was likely a friend of Sozin through Roku. I can’t imagine that they didn’t at least get to meet each other at Roku’s wedding.
Ang could have helped, especially since if he's in the presence if a former avatar, he could have his body taken over, especially on the night of the commet
I loved this series start to finish. If it had been a carbon copy made in live action, I would’ve been bored and disappointed. I’m good with most of the changes made and they did fantastic on this. 👌
It took me a few episodes, but I've come around to liking this show more than when I first started it. The creative choices are obviously meant to evoke a certain style and it took me longer usual pick up on it. I do feel like certain characteristics could be improved upon, but my guess is that's what the characters are gonna grow into. I hope we get Books 2 and 3 before too long.
It's a good show. Visually stunning, excellent music, great action. The only problems I have with it are some moments of poor acting and badly handled exposition. It's different from the original, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
I actually think if Aang was there at the air temple during that attack. They probably would’ve won. If he saw his people dying, the Avatar state probably would’ve kicked in and whipped them out right there
Until he gets to Sozin, a comet enhanced Sozin would probably be too much for even an Avatar State Aang to handle especially if Sozin called his dragon for backup.
The reaction I've been waiting for. Balanced - taking into consideration the difference between live and animated. Not complaining that the actor doesn't sound like the voice-actor, or complaining that the cgi looks wonky (for an inexperienced water bender) or that Iroh was mis-cast (when I think Paul is perfect for the role). Maybe I'm being too critical of other reactors or maybe we're on the same page.
Nah people want to criticize everything because they know for 1; life action adaptations are rarely well received, 2: the OG creators left so that upsets them, 3: they are either looking for an exact 1:1 and any change is bad to them or 4: they look at twitter and see everybody hating so they feel like they need to hate on it to be taken seriously.
