Brazil vs Argentina is perhaps the greatest rivalry on the international stage of football - but what’s behind that? Is it the fight to be the best team in not only South America, but the world? Is it the Pelé vs Maradona factor? Or is there a cultural undertone? Ahead of the Copa America final, it was time for Adrian to get to the bottom of this rivalry with Fede and Filippo.

Oopsies, a double upload today.Be sure to show some love to Fede and Filippo! Links in the description. Love you guys.
201914 is going to be a wild year 😏
Ok if it's international rivalry then maybe... I would have gone for Dortmund-Schalke for club. And then other sports I would have gone Canadiens-Nordiques in hockey. Oh how I miss my Northmens in blue!
**Those are the ones I know there are probably others I don't know about...
I love how Fede had the nerve to say they "owned" Brazil on clubs level hahahhahaha... the nerve of argentinians and their egos. FYI they lost every single Libertadores since 2018 and some finals were 2 Brazilian teams.
Finally a copa America video 😭
I know, I've stopped watching this channel but this got me excited.
One thing I disagree is about Argentina having no pressure on them. When you have Messi on your team, there is always pressure and expectations to win. Even 2018 Argentina had pressure against France.
When Fede talked about tango and the feeling of suffering about the past that Argentinians have, I also thought about fado. I didn't know that Argentians had this "national" feeling too. And the thing that is more interesting is that both fado and tango were initially a way that only poor people, criminals or prostitutes would use to express themselves. The higher classes would never sing fado or dance tango and now they are a symbol of Portugal and Argentina, respectively. Came here for the football, left with some cultural knowledge.
Argentina is one of the most patriotic nations in the world, so i wasnt surprised really tbh
Argentines genuinely think they are better than every other country in south america. They have this superiority complex that almost matches the Nazis. Not surprising given their italian roots and the fact that many Nazis escaped to Argentina and Brasil.
Yes, another thing both countries have in common besides hating Brazilians lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm from Bangladesh and the rivalry between Brazil and Argentina fans is very intense here.
Today I read about it, it was a very interesting thing to know.
I am from Bangladesh too 🇧🇩 and I love team Argentina 🇦🇷💯

If messi wins this is will be one of the most iconic tournament ever for a player.
Defeating Brazil in their own country where they havent lost for 71 years . Brazil never lost a copa america tournament they hosted and brazil last defeat against Argentina in competitive match was 12 years ago.
All odd are against Argentina
Messi will probably lose once again . Which is sad
@@phoenix-king779 probably yeah...
It's a shame that there will be no fans to watch, which drastically ruins the experience.
Don't forget the other side.
If Messi loses, then Brasil will be the ones who destroyed one of Argentina's best players legacy, 5 final defeats will leave a HUGE stain on Messi record.
People will try to deny it, but 5 straight defeats is inexcusable. This is a must win for Messi.
@@1997lordofdoom But i dont count Ronaldo as when it mattered he got injured and éder gave portugal the win

Uruguay and Argentina is a great rivarlry too. Plus the fact that Uruguay is such a small nation and has more cups than both Argentina and Brazil is amazing.

Nice to see Tactical Manager and also Fede on the channel. I do remember Fede speaking on Argentina before on Oh My Goal.
Adrian's videos are the best football analysis
Finally someone uploads a video about the biggest football match this summer.
I'm with many people who just wants to see Messi win an international trophy. It's going to be tough against Brazil of course, who field such a strong team front to back.
Brazil vs Argentina 🇧🇷 vs 🇦🇷 always a good match
Yes! Thanks for covering south American football, appreciate it.

roots of the rivalry is back!!
Not really the topic, but people often misunderstand Brazilian music for beeing happy and joyfull, but that's not necessarily the case, Samba especially can be quite melancholic. But I get why people have this perception when almost everything they hear is that stoc carnival song that plays whenever someone makes a video about Brazil on youtube. It also depends on what region of Brazil you're talking about, people usually jump to that Rio vibe, but on the south of Brazil for instance, people are alot closer to argentinian culture, even in the way they treat football.
Not a Messi fan but I almost cried when Argentina won the Copa America... congratulations!
I love these videos man
Adrian are you covering Gold Cup? Canadá 🇨🇦 is playing you know…. >;)
Good luck in our game 🇺🇸 vs 🇨🇦.
Also hope 🇦🇷 beat 🇧🇷, Messi deserves a Copa America.
Yeah no one follows the gold cup. They should just merge with the copa america. That way they'll get more high level experience and have a chance to win a cup worth something.
Go watch Dominic Rich F.C.
He does every major tournament, concaf, gold cup etc.
@Yeet Yeet no it isn't, there aren't any good nations in the gold cup. Euro, copa america, and the world cup are the only international cups that are actually worth something.
@Yeet Yeet no they aren't. Has any country in that region ever won a world cup? Mexico never gets out of the round of 16 in the world cup and the US didn't even qualify for a single world cup from the 50's till 1990. The gold cup is worthless.
@@Caligula1488 What about the tactical prowess of Guatemala 🇬🇹? Or the amazing counter attack of Guadalupe 🇬🇵? I could see Guatemala 🇬🇹 or El Salvador 🇸🇻 beat France 🇫🇷 in a World Cup match.

See? Choke.
The man called it.
The Argentine guy is so humble LMAO 🤣
Watching the Argentine pour a Matecito es lo mas argentino!
Except Mate is paraguayan
Finally Casemiro Vs Messi, rooting for Brazil from Nepal.
In the last 20 games Brazil won 10 and Argentina 6
2004-19 was a very bad spell for Argentina.
If Brazil wins, there is at least a 50% chance it was due to the ref. In England's case, it would be 100% thanks to the ref.
Here in Bangladesh it is one of the most explosive match ever to exist. People would set fire on rival houses and clashes between rival supporters turn dirty. There were also cases of suicide when Brazil or Argentina lost. Brazil and Argentinian people probably don't even know about us haha.
We do in Argentina, and we had for a long time. We knew about Bangladesh fans of Argentina since 1986. Many of us also want our Federation to reward Bangladesh fans by taking our national team there and play a friendly or do an exhibition because they deserve it.
Also, type "festejos en bangladesh copa america 2021" which translates to "celebrations in Bangladesh Copa America 2021" and you will see many videos in spanish showing how you celebrated.
Sorry for so many messages: "Del Obelisco a Bangladesh, así fueron los festejos por el campeonato argentino en el país y el mundo" at 8:36 you are in Argentinian news channel.
Casemiro vs Messi was a spot on observation. The game will be won/lost in the battle of defense against Messi. There is no doubt Neymar will deliver like he always does, as well as the amazing back line with Marquinhos and Thiago/Militão. But if you ask me, our biggest asset is the guard dog himself, Casemiro. He has been one of the few players able to restrain Messi in the last years and I hope he plays a perfect match tomorrow.
Wow Copa America video. Finally
Fede doesn’t sound like he has an Argentine accent
I have a very thick one, but when speaking in Spanish 😉
Congratz Argentina 😊
I just know that I’m gonna be heart broken either way, happy for Brazil 🇧🇷 cause I’m Brazilian, sad for Messi cause he deserves something for Argentina, always delivered but never quite got it. Or Sad for Brazil and Neymar who hasn’t gotten himself the Copa America, and happy for Messi for finally getting it. We’ll see tho

Tactical manager tv X rabona Tv + Fede = Elite content 🔥
I really think they need to just permanently make it an America's tournament. It would be so much better with Mexico, USA, even Canada and Jamaica.
One aspect of this rivalry seems to stem from Brazil's dominance of the South American continent off the football field. It's the largest economy on the continent, it has the biggest population, it speaks Portuguese instead of Spanish, it has very different demographics, it's also culturally dominant, with some of the most creative and dynamic artists on the continent. And then, there's Brazil's dominance on the actual football field. Argentinians, on the other hand, are proud of their European heritage and they definitely feel resentment for Brazil's economic and cultural dominance.
Fede is on Point
As an outsider, I simply prefer Brazil and Brazilians in general. Generally, they just seem much nicer people than Argentinians. And that's born out even on the football field. Whenever things don't go their way, Argentina automatically resort to violence and underhand tactics. They can often seem to be a very ugly team!
Brazilians have a generally friendly nature but also much more violent/crime-ridden society than Argentina (or Uruguay).
Copa America content??😳
Mickey mouse tournament
I'm happy you're talking about the copa América but come on you wait until the final to only give us one?
In Brazil we are having this really big debate between the people that are going to suport messi and people who are going to support Brazil
That's dumb😂 Why would anyone want to support a rival against his own country in a final?!
@@fishyfish6510 Maybe because this Copa America is kind of bullshit? It was just a power move by Bolsonaro

the last 20 copa libertadores, brazil won 8 argentina 5, i don't get why ''argentina owns brazilins clubs in the last 20 years" lmao all the presure is on argentina to won 1 championship with messi... that guy are talking crazy stuff xD argentina always say stuff like 1950 or the 7x1, but i don't remember argentina in any of those two xD
7:48 lol so why is it when argentine teams played in the club world cub they lost all of the recent finals vs Europeans teams while Brazilian teams a lot of them actually won like sao paulo and internacional
Because, for a Brazilian team actually win the Libertadores, they have to be REALLY good. Much better than the others. When it's a close call, they get cold feet or whatever. (I'm Brazilian btw)
Recently Club World Cuo has changed and for some reason our winners haven't been accustomed to it. River also has a tendency to choke in the final matches, look at the Flamengo match in 2019 and tying to Defensa y Justicia for the Superliga in 2019 and choking to Kashima Antlers
Man, the copa libertadores thing is just something you can’t argue with.
The most a si for BR team has won is 3. It’s 25 to 20 titles to Argentina and we have 4 teams in the top 5 of it. Just drop this.

Deserving to win = scoring goals
And "the best" team was aided in the knockouts a lot. The handball against Peru and many shady plays against Chile were ludicrous. Neymar should have been booked for diving in both matches too.
You should start by watching the matches before you talk.
Argentineans are actually mostly Italians
My dude stfu argentina literally won a WC with the hand of God goal. No nation is perfect, maradona even admitted in drugging brazilian players. Geez

It's a rivalry compounded by Pele vs Maradona.
Football is a way of life, and a religion. In Brazil it's the joie of vivre, in Argentina it's a national duty.
There's a thing I need to say: Stop that bullshit with tango lol. Argentina is cumbia and cuarteto, and football specially is too!!! Argentinian football isn't class, it isnt an elegant romantic dance like people want it to be.
The music for and from the lower classed people living in the slums, grinding every day in the grit, to get the chance to celebrate like there's no tomorrow, with wine on one hand, a cigarette in the other.
