Di Maria - let's not forget about him. He was desperate to play in the 2014 world cup final and was told by Real Madrid that he couldn't play as he was recovering from an injury and needed to be fit enough to sell to United.
Now he's scored for Argentina in the 2008 Olympic Gold medal match, the Copa America final, and the World Cup final - so underrated. He came and did what he had to do for his country and now he's a champion👑

One of the best matches i have seen in years, Argentinas total control win a 2 - 0 lead during 80 minutes of the games just for Mbappe to somehow score two goals in two minutes, making the tension skyrocket, then Messi with what could have been cherry on top of his world cup career, scoring the winning goal for Argentina, only for Mbappe yet again scoring with a penalty, that Dibu Martinez save at the last second, and a final complete control by the Argentinians at the penaltys..., man what a match
France had ZERO attempts for 80 minutes in that game, until that penalty.

The big difference was the subs though. Once ARG started tiring, France's insane bench is what got them back in the game. Being able to take off players like Griezmann and bringing on Real Madrid starters is just the best luxury. I feel like Scaloni waited a bit too long to bring on Lautaro, but when I saw him running (like he was in quicksand), maybe his fitness just wasn't on point.
Argentina just doesn't have anywhere close to the quality of France when it comes to depth. Even with France's many injuries.

This world cup was my “first”, so I wasn’t too attached to any particular nation. But I wanted Messi to get his, so I was rooting for them. This tournament was particularly stunning with so many remontadas and surprise performances. France were corpse-like for over 70 minutes and then came to life as did the game.

The game was exciting. The game had a ton of goals. The game wasn't great, though. It was one of the most one-sided finals I've seen (and I've been around in '98), and the fact that the scoreline doesn't represent that makes it even worse. Imagine France winning despite being the worse team for 95% of the match.
First match this wc? Barely any of the better teams have won, but alright.
Ever seen Real Madrid playing in the champions league? Sleeping for most part of the game and all of a sudden just bang bang bang! and they take the game away from you. The thing with football is that there's no one way to win a football match and not always a team playing better football for most part of the game wins it.

Such a beautiful match. I just started the video but I wanted to note that France played without some of their best players. No Benzema, Nkunku, Pogba, Kante, Lucas, Kimpembe. This would have painted a different picture and no doubt would have scored 4 or more tonight yet real life doesn't work that way and Argentina were able to play better this way. No point in crying over spilled milk but nevertheless both sides made it happen tonight with an unforgettable match. Argentina played amazing moving up front and arguably my favorite team moving up since they looked sharp and calculated and you can't help but be impressed. Nice to see Messi get his World Cup. A player like him deserves it.

Honestly, the way France started the match, I was half-convinced someone had bought out most of them to throw the game.
I know many say Livakovic is deserving of the golden glove but that last save by Martinez assured a chance for Argentina for the CUP and bravely so nothing else comes close to that save given the context of the save!

That first 70 minutes for Argentine was sublime. Macallister was mecurial, De Paul's workrate and Enzo the stabilising force were dominant in the midfield. Di Maria was a difference maker on the Left Wing, Alvarez consistent pressure and great through ball to Macallister after a brilliant flick on by Messi, Macallister finds Di Maria streaking on his outside to bury it home on the bounce. One of the goals of the tournament! Molina, Romero and De Paul had seemingly shut down Mbappe.. 80 minutes Kolo Muani beats Otamendi's high line with speed his 1st major error of the tournament. Mbappe slots it pass Martinez 2-1 here we go... 97 seconds later Mbappe laser volley into right bottom corner. France were alive and threatening to steal it at the death. Extra time Argentina pushes and after brilliant link up play with Lautaro, Messi.. Messi seemingly has the winner!
Off the corner, ball falls to Mbappe strikes it into Montiel protecting his face. 3-3.
Next moment my heat almost sank 1 vs 1 Kolo Muani fires a low shot and Emiliano "Dibu" Martinez makes an incredible iconic outstretched foot save. Argentina has survived and has a chance in penalties.
Penalties.. Mbappe and Messi both score the 1st penalties with all the pressure often the world watching their leadership and mindset was immense. Next Dibu makes incredible save on Coman, Tchouameni who had an excelente fires wide left, up steps Dybala, Paredes and then the final pen.. RB Gonzalo Montiel slots in perfectly to his right. Argentina son Camepones del mundo, dale campeones!! 🇦🇷🏆
