You sir, are a real man. Likely exhausted and needing a new set of tires by the end. Hell of a job, starting in the back and moving up to second. Having to wheel the FE in the 68, hope you have aluminum heads and timing cover assembly. I had a 69 Mach 1 as my first car... Tons of understeer. Even with AC, I still felt like I needed asbestos jeans in the summer.
Don't you just love it when you have so much power you can't even give it full power until it's lined up straight? Am I the only one who kept trying to look over the hood?
Bad Ass Big Block Ford FE Horsepower not to mention built and tuned by Holman and Moody who were known for scaring the He'll out of GM and Chrysler when a Ford car showed up to race anywhere and Holman and Moody was on it you knew you had better be making some big time Horsepower if you wanted to keep up with them let alone try to win against them they really knew how to make some Serious Horsepower with the Ford motors and knew how to tune them like nobody's business!!! #Blue Oval Nation
Excellent machine, I am extremely happy to know that you are actively racing a 427 HM Mustang. Those Rat motor Vette's need someone to keep them honest and you seem to be able to do that for sure! Any chance you will bring that Big Horse to SVRA at the Brickyard or the Brian Redman Classic in 2015?
one day....one day. Jericho 4sp and a 427 FE in a 67/68 coupe. what dreams are made of. I sold my 68 to pay off the wife's wrecked car. Holman & Moody built a great car.
What Trans Am could've been. Nascar was toying with the idea of big block pony cars. What monsters these cars would've been as this driver is aptly demonstrating.
what kind of transmission do you have in that? I noticed you don't use your clutch I love to have one? And when you down shift it automaticly throttles up so for to easy the down shift??? How is that possible? Thank you
+mark forti It's most likely a top loader. H-pattern 4 spd. Not a dog leg. Down shifting is done by heel-toeing. Heel on the brake, toe blips the throttle to rev match, left foot on clutch.
Need a faster steering box. If you can figure out how to cram a 71-73 integral box into it, you can get Lee Power steering to build you one with proper feel and a 12:1 ratio. They are almost go cart fast steering and so much better then anything Ford ever put in the old cars.
Hey guys I'm new at track racing.Listening to this brings up a question. What is the high pitched whine when gearing down and letting off?Old style trans?
I AM CURIOUS.....this may be the only vintage big block Mustang road racer I can think of. BUT what class would it have competed in????? And was it competitive? I assume it would have had to bump up a class and run GT? Did the SCCA allow this to race with Sports cars not sedans?

Downshifts are insane. It sounds like that 427 is revving to the moon. Delicious sounds.
The torque of that motor is sick, the closing rate when he really puts his foot into it is incredible, what a savage....

Not a "big block" it's an FE motor.
Good god that sounds great, big old 7 litre pushrod v8 revving like that amazing...
Listen to the engine and the straight cut gears!!!
This is what its going to be like in gearhead heaven!!
Yep he has that big block howling and pounding those gears, sounds so F....cking good.
That's awesome, I kept hoping you'd find a way to stuck your nose into a corner to get around that car. Nice driving!
That sound is so awesome,
Is this car still running leaf springs in the rear ? Looks like it handles great

Love the sound of the big block, and a lot of fun to ride along, thank you.
Holman/Moody built a lots of great race cars, the GT40's they built were amazing also.
Engines mostly.

I believe this car is using a Ford Top Loader.
that 427fe torque will blister the crap out of ya,,
pure music......
Ain't cutting her no slack!! 💪
I want that engine sooooo bad. Sounds killer. How much did it cost to build? That steering box looks painful to use.

Pretty sure it's a dog box
Sounds like straight cut gears

Sounds like a T10 top loader, had that whine in my 73 Mach 1
@@phattyhales Takes
57 lbs press. On clutch
This is what it sounds like when you grab Godzilla by the “Nads”
I got to do one. A 67 390 car on a 1/4 mile paved oval in Idaho. Mine never handled that well for some reason. But it was fine in a straight line.
He won the race.
Put this beast in “The Ring”!
Great downshifting!
It's really handling down the straightaways. :)

I believe it's the rear end ring and pinion gears your hearing
Straight cut gears (for strength) in the gearbox.
Good racing!
I LOVE this car
Goals. 🙌🏼 🙌🏼
Is that a top loader?

This 68 Mustang sedan is a FIA group II class, similar to the 67 Shelby GT500 (& 427 Corvette) SCCA AP class
Next time you’re in Portland I’d love to pick your brain! I love the car and I enjoy your style of driving!
Kareeest that thing REALLY reels 'em in don' it?
What a beast
I have come to love the sound of a 2-way LSD. in my own car, I prefer a 1.5 because it is still street legal, but the sound is not quite as awesome.
I would like to talk with the owner of this car. Anyone know who he is and where he lives

Very nice drive. To bad the guy with the vintage Nascar had his ego get the best of him. You were definitely faster.
Valve springs!
Rear end was just a little too short for that track.
7:54 WORK
Just 1 more gear!!!
