I have a 1961 Ford Galaxie Starliner. It has one of the 500 ohc 427 engines that were supplied by Holman Moody. I am in New Zealand and it is unique in this country. I have waited over 40 years to find and purchase this vehicle. I will never part with it
My wife and I visited NZ several years ago and were amazed at the passion and dedication to Detroit Iron by the Kiwi's. We checked out a couple of local car shows on our travels and had some good conversations with folks. Their ears perked up when I told them that we lived near Detroit and I had worked in a Ford factory assembling cars on the production line in the 70's. Good times.
I have 61 starliner 352 v2 no hotrod running ,complete ,hubcaps fender skirts, original interior I've never seen under custom seat covers installed at dealership new carpet headliner original. I owned it 44 yrs purchased it from my neighbor for $1000 when I was 14. Top Dollar in 1981. Never a Daily I just wanted it. I'll never sell it.
How about posting lots of photos for all of us to enjoy? Our family had a Ford dealership for 72 years in a small town in Western Washington State. Thanks for sharing!
Wow! Seven days a week. I’ve heard the names Holman and Moody my whole life but never knew anything but that they built engines. These videos are treasures of history. Thank you.
WOW, what a fortunate man to have experienced a piece of Americana on this level. Back in 1965 , a friend of mine from Charloette, N.C., owned a 1964 Mustang convertible with the 289. He was of wealth, his dad owned Pic & Pay Shoes (not sure of the spelling but there was a store in Salisbury, MD and Melvin was the manager. He was the son of the owner). Either that summer or the next ( I am 75 so please excuse), he had a Mustang that sounded like the most bad ass Chevy V-8 with spoked wheels on the front which would lift the front wheels. Impressive. He and his family bragged how Holman & Moody did the engine. Am I the guy to say false? It did pick up the wheels with a 289 under the hood and the rear ratio was not the reason. Holman and Moody knew their stuff!
I rebuild a set of Holman-Moody 429 BOSS head when I worked in a machine shop. The heads had 2 plugs per camber and the intake runners had epoxy on the floor for more velocity!
@@alext8828 ever heard of utube before ? I occasionally make comments on DragBoss's utube channel. I came across a set of unusual Cleveland heads. I posted a picture on Craigslist so that he could see them. Or maybe the guy has a FB account.

I was employed with Bill Stroppe in Long Beach for 4 years in early 80's...one day they rolled in this big tool box with a funny name lettered on it "Lujie Lesovsky"...next day this little old man that looked a lot like an old shoe cobbler showed up for work, put on an Indiana Oxygen Apron and started fiddling about on one of the race trucks...after watching him work for a few weeks, I asked him if he could help me with my fender on my motorcycle...that began a 12 year mentoring until his passing...taught me almost everything I know and he always enjoyed a dirty joke... @rogergreider3568 his name was Vic SMALLDINO. I lived 4 houses down from him and his son Scott went to school with me. Vic worked for an outfit that set all kinds of world records with flat head engines. Look him up on Google. He worked for Yates and someone else. His head designs were absolutely revolutionary. SMALLDINO NOT SMALLWOOD. But nice try.
@rogergreider3568 I just reread the Google article. It was Smalldino and Yates. He was machining a custom flat head design and it set records of over 135 mph in the quarter using a 4 cylinder. So you are COMPLETELY WRONG. That's what is wrong with people today. They don't give credit to the OG drag racers of the 50's and 60's . He was a master machinist and designer. But sadly forgotten today.

Weren't they involved in NASCAR's Compact Class ? I seem to remember them working on a 1960 Valiant for Marvin Panch.
