This one really pissed me off. I truly believe there should be consequences for judges that allow kids to go with abusive parents. Maybe then they would truly listen when a child states they're afraid to go with a parent. I don't understand how judges can make these types of "mistakes" and its shrugged off like nothing. A walmart employee can make a simple error and get reprimanded or fired but judges that allow monsters like this to get away with doing serious harm get to say oopsie and that's it. If these incompetent judges/CFS wkrs had revoked her parental rights in a timely manner, not only would the sons and fathers be spared so much unnecessary suffering and trauma, but she probably would've never known Cherry, who would still be alive 2day.

In fact two abused me, one was my mother who would withhold my liquid salbutamol when I was sick, beat me, locked me outside in a garden in a foreign country whilst we were on holiday etc etc, one was a family member from my paternal side who used to starve me during the day whilst she babysat me and a third told my mother that I had showed her a bruise in my groin, I got during a beating during a medical examination causing me to get another beating when I got home, and then for years afterwards to have my mother go around telling the story with impunity to everyone and laughing about how I had tried to get help and failed.

Historically, the system failed mothers as well. I think somewhere in the 1950s or 60s, custody started being granted to the mother as fathers always got custody. The only problem is that courts fail to judge what's best for the child or they ignore the signs of abuse. In this case, I am surprised that the courts ever allowed this woman to have her children but that could also be due to the fact that this woman seems to know how to be charming and knows how to play the victim card real well. Which clearly worked in her favour until it didn't anymore, and that unfortunately caused a person to die.

She seemed like an awesome person, and she had the bravery to live her own life despite her disabilities. That’s something I envy. I’m 23, so just a year younger than her, and I also have developmental disabilities. I still live with my parents and I’m not sure if I’m ever going to be able to live on my own. It’s such a huge step to take and she seemed like she was doing so well. CPS doesn't care, they're too busy taking kids who actually aren't being abused because they get money for each child who is removed from the home. They're so overloaded with these cases that they totally ignore the ones that actually are being abused. There are a few honest caseworkers that care about children, but the majority of CPS is corrupt. So many children are taken away from loving homes, and so many children are left to suffer in abusive homes. They don't help children or families. I urge everyone to research this to see for yourself.

Cherry was such a phenomenally beautiful, lovely, loving, caring and wonderful young woman. What she had done for Jacob was a clear testament of her generosity in helping others before herself. I don't know of many people that would've bought a stranger's child clothes, watched them for days on end, feed them, bathe them, and play with them until they became tired. This is also a testament of how Cherry was brought up.
Despite her having an IQ of 60, she was smart enough to recognize that Jacob was in need of help. She definitely sounded like an angel, and she didn't deserve to die in the manner in which she did. She had her entire life ahead of her, and I firmly believe that she would've gotten married and had her own children, so she could spoil them with her love and affection. In my own personal opinion, Cherry was a much, much better mother instincts in her tiny pinkie finger than Kim had in her entire body. This is why I firmly believe that Cherry would've been a fantastic momma.
I wholeheartedly believe in the death penalty, when it's warranted. In this case, Kim SHOULD be put to death in the same exact manner that she had murdered Cherry; except for her, a very, very slow, methodical and painful death would be somewhat sufficient for her. This diabolical subhuman demonic thing ruined so many people's lives. So, she doesn't deserve an ounce of pity, sympathy or compassion. The trauma she caused her own sons is truly sickening, evil and disgusting. The courts definitely failed on every aspect of this case. She SHOULD have been behind bars for the multiple times that she had harmed her sons, but the damn courts continued returning them to her, or allowing her visitations. Shame on those judges! IF those judges had done their jobs right, there's a high probability that Cherry would still be here today, but they failed, and, because of them, Cherry's no longer here.
    RIP Cherry!!

I agree with you 💯. Cherry was an amazing woman who had a beautiful soul. AND that evil selfish monster took her life away. I'm GLAD she got the electric chair for everything she did to Cherry. Motherhood is such a beautiful gift. There are alot of women who aren't so lucky in conceiving a child. But this monster who was blessed 4 TIMES Tormented her sons by abusing them while the courts did nothing. I Swear DCF AND CPS are the worst social development departments that were ever made to help families with social needs and child protective services. They NEVER do their jobs right. Always fails the child in need and the parent that is actually trying to do right by the child. It's like they want the child with the evil parent. At least place the child with relative caregivers in a safe environment until things are worked out. If it was up to me I would get rid of those services and place something new that would help the children more. This whole case made me soo angry. I felt so bad for the kids and their fathers. My heart really went out to Cherry's family. RIP to a beautiful soul CHERRY.

Yet she was allowed to take care of her three next sons, did get off when reports of child abuse were made (instead of checking the records).
This went to the point where the children were so scared that they rather ran away in underwear.
Yet the courts did nothing. These boys were failed by the system.
And most infuriating of all: Cherry's death could have been prevented. If the courts and the police would have done their job she would still be alive!

In an age of supposed “equality” it amazes me how fathers have to fight so hard to gain custody of their kids. I speak from experience having an abusive ex partner. She attacked me regularly and abused our children. Of course she also always played the victim. I tried going through every channel to get my kids away from her but nothing worked. The cards are stacked heavily in favour of women in these scenarios, it’s so wrong. Eventually I got away and got my children away from her when I recorded one of her attacks. My kids had bruises and teeth marks on them. This story reminds me of what I went through ten years ago, and it’s time for custody to be decided not by gender, but who is the right parent to take the children.

They spoke about how manipulative she was (her episode was called "Master Manipulator") and how vicious and violent she was toward both of them and her other sons and partners, but I don't think they detailed all of the abusive things she did to all of the boys because they had to get to the story of the murder of Cherry Walker.
I thought I hated her from watching the son tearfully relive the horror of growing up with and being abused by her (and also witnessing her abuse his other siblings) but damn, it would be so sweet of one or more of her fellow inmates engaged in a little "Oops upside her head".

You guys should read the court transcript of her case. She is an evil monster. I wanted to scream reading all her evilness. Everyone she crossed paths with including her own mother hated her and said she was equivalent to the devil maybe even more so. Cherie’s case worker Paula was completely devastated in her murder that she stopped working all together and couldn’t get to her funeral. Reading her testimony was heartbreaking

I went through a similar situation. Courts just kept giving my daughter back to her. Saying " A lil girl needs her mother" evn after her newest kid died after eating a drug off the floor. I fought for custody for 9 yrs. Courts show no love to dad's. I 100% believe both parents are equally important. I'm sick of these stories where the bad parent gets more rights. It needs to change. I had to drive 45 minutes at 3am one time bc her house got raided. I went and picked up my daughter, worked w/dyfs, the case worker approved her staying w/me. Put her into school near my house. Filed pw to get child support suspended/canceled. Went to court after 4 months of waiting. Paying the whole time. They STILL kept the support order open against me bc the mom was complying w/treatment and the plan was for our daughter to go back w/her. Which 3 Months later, she did. I literally went crazy, depression and just pain. It still eats me alive. Idk where they evn are now. She recently turned 18 and they just disappeared. I feel like I failed. Idk what I could do w/o going to jail. Tearing up just thinking about it

He's nearly old enough to Google his name in which case I will be at least available that way.

But did he report anything? Nope. Never. Did the surgery and sent me on my way back with my abuser. A 9 year old doesn’t break their nose so badly that they need emergency surgery, by walking into a door.

When you think about convicted murderers, that are so dangerous, that they are placed in high security prisons, where you have to go through a maze of cages and massive, thick, metal doors that are guarded by huge, armed prison guards, before you get anywhere near the prisoner...

Yikes! Getting yelled and abused for eating potato chips that an adult said you could hits waaaayyyyyy too close to home.
Our systems of protecting children is broken and inexcusably underfunded. Also- not all wounds are visible and can hurt just as bad. The authorities will only do something (rarely but still) for physical or sexual abuse.
This was a very hard story to get through but these types of accounts need to be told.
I fell more into the emotional abuse category. I didn’t know why at the time, but I started cutting at 9 years old. Those were wounds caused by by me but they originated from the abusive parent. The feeling of helplessness and not having any control of your safety is one of the worst things to do to a child. I would pray I’d start get hit so then at least someone would notice.
My heart goes out to these victims and all of those suffering.

      It’s awful, really.
The courts lean heavily towards mothers in numerous cases and let their own biases cloud what’s best for a child. They go with the typical mindset of females/mothers being more nurturing (“well they carried the child and gave birth, so they have a connection the father can’t” is an unfortunate view I’ve seen shared among many), because _in general_ it can be true, but only to a certain extent. It’s just really shitty that they don’t give fathers the same benefit and look at each situation as a case by case basis. It takes two to make a baby, and often the system will only recognize that when child support is involved. Otherwise, fathers are left high and dry when it comes to serious cases involving their children suffering at the hands of their mother. Justice is supposed to be blind, but it’s heavily skewed when it comes to children and their parents.
