The english patch makes everything better
I have all the menus memorized since I used to play it so much; but I like reading all the text in RRS mode or when you unlock characters, even when the match ends it's cool to finally know what all that stuff means.

BeBetterGamer Wrestling hopefully u can be the first to make a video and go through all the menus and stuff and show off every inch of this game translated into English. Idk if that's something you'd be willing to do but I'm sure the Aki community would surely appreciate it.
I actually have plans for that, I see a void in translating the game in video form, and I wanna make sure this info doesn't get lost and is easily accessible.
I finally got a n64 and VPW2 just arrived today. I'm so stoked.
Glad I watched this video. I have the everdrive with the English rom and I’ve played it a few times and on the surface to me it seemed like wrestlemania 2000 with a Japanese roster and never really gave it a chance. Going to spend a few hours with this today now!
Considering it's the same developer you are exactly right to assume it's like the Japanese version of WM2000 cause they developed them alongside each other, but this has way more content, wrestlers and features that were not added in WM2000. Some of those features would be added to No Mercy but even still some weren't even put into that game either! It's a great entry into Japanese wrestling as well cause you can learn a lot from watching videos of the wrestlers who are in the game it's an all star cast.
I envy you, never have liked to envy, not in my nature but because of this video, I envy you bro. Lol. I need to get the n64 system, the game and that overdrive thingy ASAP

I was playing vpw2 and I found out something cool the great muta does. If you put him in a powerbomb he can reverse it by spraying your face with the poison mist. I never knew that, this game has really cool secrets
Oh yeah I knew about that, it's pretty awesome! You can actually give it to your CAW's because there is a reversal option called "heel" and that is what the Great Muta has! I remember the first time I saw that I got really excited!
Could you please make a video with the English translation that delves into the depths of the fighting style? Would be very helpful to see what all the fighting style options are in English. Love your videos keep up the great work!
I do plan on making more in depth videos focusing on each aspect of VPW2, almost like a definitive guide and I would like to cover the fighting styles more in depth as well

Does Ever64 Drive work with this? Trying to patch today if so
Recently discovered the existence of this game. Would like it patched in English. Downloaded the patch file from the link in the description. What is the .rup extension and how do I apply this patch? Using project64 on pc. I know you said you have mac but could you point me to a tutorial? Thanks.

You have to download the ROM for the game elsewhere, and then patch that ROM with the translation patch in the link in the description

I actually have a repro of the translation patch. Most of it is translated, with an exception for the pause menu

You can't create you're own moves within the game itself, but there are various mods and rom hacks around where you can create your own moves. Check out the old skool reuninion message boards for more info on those, because I am a novice when it comes to info about all the different mods/hacks available.
I just bought a copy of vpw 2 and I wanted to know if playing n64 games on flat screen HD TVS damage it the tv in any way
No it doesn't damage the TV, it just doesn't look as good as it would've on a CRT, but there are different external things you can do to make the picture sharper. Check out the channel My Life In Gaming for playing older consoles on HDTV's
This patch works perfect on project 64 and makes the game much easier to play

how ca n I get an english patch for a cartridge for virtual pro wrestler 1 and 2?
You can only patch the ROM, not the cartridges...but you can always make your own cartridge with the patch ROM. There are guides on RUclips for that I recommend checking out Nintendrew. Also right now there is only a translation patch for VPW2 but there is someone in the AKI hacking community who is working on a translation for VPW64.

Lol I totally understand. For me it depends on the game for some reason. Like, I always use all caps in No Mercy, but in VPW64 I use lowercase...don't know why I have that preference I just do it lol
BeBetterGamer Wrestling lol that's odd, dude if u haven't played Fire pro wrestling world you should, if you like those games anyways, course you have to download most from the workshop but there are some amazing creations already.
I know I've been keeping my eye on it and watching videos/social media about it. I was a big Fire Pro fan back in the day; if I wasn't playing the AKI games I was playing Fire Pro lol. I unfortunately don't have a PC (I have a Mac) but I might get a PS4 when it's released on that.

I recently purchased the Everdrive 64 v3 but I’m having a difficult time figuring out how to get the English translation patch using a MacBook Pro. Is there a way around this? Any help is much appreciated
Unfortunately the only way around this is to use a PC; the program used to patch it only works on Windows. I only have a Mac too so at the time I did the patch at my job on my work computer lol. Maybe ask a friend to do it for you and email it to you, or if you have access to Bootcamp on your Mac you can try doing it that way.

Once I read that for this game only the AJPW wrestlers got their accurate design since they had a direct licensing deal, but for NJPW, FMW and other companies couldn't get it
Does this work on the n64 console
Only about three minutes in and something popped in my head. You gonna do any Fire Pro World stuff? I know it's not retro since it just came out, but I feel it'll fit your channel well!
I'm a big fan of the FirePro series; I played a lot on the original Playstation and Dreamcast, as well as Firepro Returns on the PS2. I currently don't have a PC (I have a Mac) or a PS4...I'm really tempted to get a PS4 tho just for FirePro World so we'll see...it's early access but I've been keeping my eye on it too and I love what I see so far.

Yeah the FirePro series is really good; when I wasn't playing the AKI games, I was playing FirePro. Really excited to see it brought back because the community was always the strongest part of the game, and now with modern technology sharing and creating characters is so much easier, it's a perfect fit for the FirePro Series.

It's going to last a long time I think lol people were still making edits for Fire Pro Wrestling Returns right up until World came out...and I think the devs are just going to keep adding everything they can

I don't play on Android so I can't confirm but I assume that you can because it's just a patched rom, so any emulator should be able to play it on any platform.
Which Version of the Everdrive u got? And how do i patch it with the Everdrive
I have the EverDrive-64 v3. In the description I put a link to the VPW2Dojo message board that shows you how to patch the Rom with the translation patch. Follows those steps, it's pretty simple. You must patch the ROM with the translation patch first, and then load the patched rom onto the everdrive, just like you would put any other rom.
Its a 19" so 1954Q i think. Keep looking on cl where you live maybe one will pop up. Forgot to say good job on your caws. Im assuming i cant download any of these right just suck it up and put them in manually? I dl save rosters for fire pro on snes, it works on pc but the will wont recognize it. Im gonna see if i can get it to work later
Yeah I'm going to keep an eye out for them...maybe one day I'll get lucky. As for the CAWs yeah since I can't create save files to share and transfer, then I share them like we did back in the day via spreadsheets lol....at least it's not hand written like I used to do for some of my friends!

When I use the patch, only some of the game is translated. As in, the first few menus. All character names are Japanese or just not there. Sweet.
Really? When I downloaded it all the names were translated...did you maybe download an earlier version? I know some stuff in RRS mode isn't translated but all my menus are as well.
Would I be able to do this on a phone or Kindle?
I don't have much knowledge of N64 emulators on those devices, but in theory yes as it should work on any emulator.

So happy to have stumbled upon your channel! I do have some questions I need to ask you though, but I did view this video - I'm asking just because I'm confused:
So #1) So basically I can get the Everdrive v3.3 & this game (VPW2) I can download through the Everdrive v3.3? And this English Translation Patch should be easy for me to install? I'm no modder & I'm not knowledgeable when it comes to ROMs, Emulators, Hacking, etc.
2) Through the EverDrive v3.3, I can still save this game & not have to worry about losing my saved data like WWF No Mercy? Even speaking of WWF No Mercy, I could even get this game through the EverDrive v3.3 & I can even use that as my "No Mercy" AND "VPW2" Cartridge?
I have started to TAKE A HUGE INTEREST IN VIRTUAL PRO WRESTLING 2 for the N64 now, but I'm not really keen on using an imported game to play on my N64 because I can't read japanese wrestlers. Specifically AND ESPECIALLY for when I wanna create my own CAW, this will stress the hell outa me, BUT I REALLY WANNA PLAY VPW2 because of you . . . :)
3) One more question: Can you create female CAWs on here? If I ever wanted create Gail Kim or Sasha Banks or Awesome Kong or Asuka - Chyna even!!! Please let me know ASAP @BeBetterGamer Wrestling
I'm very happy to hear you have become interested in VPW2 because of the channel, that's part of the reason why I do this!
1) You don't download the roms through the everdrive, you download them and put them on a SD card that goes into the everdrive. The English translation patch is really easy to setup, I'm not a modder either and it took me about 5 minutes and I didn't have any issues.
2) Roms don't have the same save state issues that cartridges have, so you should never have to worry about the No Mercy glitch or losing your data, and yeah you install as many N64 games as your SD card can fit!
3) Unfortunately, you cannot create female wrestlers in VPW2, which is a big disappoint honestly cause yeah there are some legendary female Japanese wrestlers I would have loved to make in VPW2 like Manami Toyota or Aja Kong.

And at first I was thinking "why don't I just focus on getting Wrestlemania 2000" instead, since I felt when I first watched your video, I was like "thats exactly what this game is" AND VPW 2 is in Japanese, obviously. But there's definitely a wider-variety of technical wrestling moves in this game; more moves than Wrestlemania 2000?
I'm gonna hit you up with more questions, if any pop up. I gotta look into this EverDrive & find some SD cards as well!!! :) XD
Also, the move sets on the Japanese wrestlers are a lot more diverse than in WM2000. I think I said that to try and illustrate how great the roster is, there are a lot of legendary technical wrestlers in the game and their move sets reflect that. Also, the AI wrestles smarter than in WM2000, so the matches feel more technical. I like to say this is a super version of wm2000: it has everything WM2000 has but yes more moves, modes, more CAW features, and the MMA grappling system. It's also a great gateway to Japanese wrestling and all the stars of the promotions too (at least stars of the time, a lot are no longer active). And feel free to ask any question you have!

Thank you! I would suggest subscribing to NJPW's youtube channel; every day they release a free match from NJPW World; sometimes recent stuff sometimes classic. Then if you start becoming a fan I highly recommend subscribing to NJPW World; I've been subscribing ever since they started it. The everdrive forums are really helpful and they have a lot of guides on their forums. The only downside is the Everdrive is a bit pricey but I think it's worth it if you are planning on using it a lot.
How do we unlock special moves? They re all missing when I wiped the game.
Do you mean the WCW/WWF moves? You need to turn the power on and off twently times each (so a total of 40). Resetting doesn't count it has to be power on/off btw

Google is your friend, legally I can't name any sites but shouldn't be too hard to find a ROM site
rom sites seem to download as .n64 files, which ninja patcher doesn't really work with. ( I think)
probably been asked hundreds and thousands of times but is it impossible to play this on an American N64?
If you have an Everdrive you can load this on to that and play it on your American N64. You could also make your own repro, there are RUclips video tutorials and it's a lot easier than it sounds. DO NOT BUY a repro as the original creator, FREEM, intended this to be a free release so anyone selling a repro is profiting off of his work, which is meant to be free to all. Plus it's cheaper to make ytour own repro to. I personally use an Everdrive.
They got rid of all the translation patches online can't find good one anywhere only z64 and for some reason unipatcher dusint support that so I'm fucked for phone

I am! I just want to be better about rotating through the AKI games more regularly. I felt like for a long time I was only doing No Mercy and neglecting the other stuff...Ideally I want to work towards a schedule where I'm doing almost a video every day from each different AKI game, so I'm kind of testing that and working to get to that point now. But I'll have a No Mercy let's play up prob at the end of this week

BeBetterGamer Wrestling their announcement was that they paired with the creators of Fire Pro Wrestling World to include NJPW stars, moves, likenesses, etc with the PS4 launch this summer. Assuming they'll be added as free dlc to the already released PC version from earlier this year.

I, actually, just figured out how to run VPW2 on, both, PC and Mac. There’s a ROM that is in English and have two programs to run it. Project64 for Windows and OpenEmu for Mac.

Yeah, I've used OpenEmu before on Mac. I know it runs the VPW2 translation patch because it's a ROM hack, but unfortunately, it can't run any of the mods for VPW2 and the other AKI games.
Oh, I didn't know that you were using mods with it as well. I just wanted to get it to work for my Mac and didn't know if you had found this program to run it since we are both Mac users. Oh well, but worth the attempt to help out.
No yeah, I appreciate the info. I don't use mods tho; what I meant to say is I want to use mods for No Mercy, but can't cause I use a Mac.
damn, howd you get your n64 captured in such nice quality?
I use an elgato HD (not the HD60 although you could use that too). I also use an S-Video cable instead of composite for my N64, you can easily get that for cheap on Amazon, and elgato sells an expansion cable for S-Video to connect with it. S-Video is the best native connection for the N64 without doing any RGB or HD mods.

I've heard of those repros' might want to check with SK Stylez, the creator of the translation patch about them. Sometimes creators of patches aren't aware of their stuff is being sold...

just watched someone on youtube simply just change the back of an American cartridge and put it on the Japanese cart and it will fit perfectly fine.

I'm having all kinda issues with this in Windows 10. Ninja Patcher freezes up for like 5 minutes, then finally says it's patched. Then once I load the patched ROM in Project 64 ver 1.6, when I hit start I get stuck at a blank white screen. If I let the entire intro play through, it freezes on a white screen once the intro finishes. Anyone else run into this?
It appears I was using a very outdated version of Project 64 ver 2.3.2 loads it up fine

I used to think that too, but actually several people pointed out that it is a word, said as a whole, because it is a proper name commonly used in Japan, and also the name of districts and provinces in Japan and that is where they derived their name from; A K I separated doesn't stand for anything actually...unlike THQ, which stood for Toy Headquarters

Word! It's funny because for like 15 years I was always saying just the letters A K I, and as soon as I started making videos people were correcting me lol but they showed me all this info I had never seen before! I still learn stuff about these games all the time!
