loved it - black dice in the black tray was challenging to see though :)
Love the one thousands sons still , that's becoming a deep cut. Tau paint job was great , another fantastic video it has successfully de-stressed me from work thanks very much it means a lot.
Thank you for all the kind words and I hope that your week gets less hectic!
I need to make another comment to complement your camera work. It’s great how in the action and in the rolls you get us and I know what I’m looking for.
GREATER GOOOOOOD. I won my first ever game with Tau the other day so I'm hyped up for all of it now.
Oooooh nice one brother! did you get a lot out of the guided/spotting mechanic? I'm still trying to get my head around it!
@@LiveAndLetsDice Pathfinders are amazing right now! If you can keep them somewhere relatively safe, they can double-spot and the rail rifles really do damage.
With the Ethereal enhancement vs cover thing, the enhancement is +1 to save characteristic, where cover is +1 to the saving throw, so they are two different things. If the attack is AP 0 and the defending infantry unit is in cover, the ethereal will give the infantry a 3+ save characteristic, and thus the unit cannot get the benefit of cover.
Thank you for the clarification. I did think it would be that cover is applied last due to its restrictions. 2+ fire warriors sounded very scary
Awesome! thank you for clarifying - we did actually end up playing it right in the end but it's good to know how the stack resolves now!
But if the AP is not 0 the limitation does not apply, right? So iirc some rolls were not correct?
@@SamFisk Yeah, that’s how I would play it. The fire warriors would be at a 3+ against AP-1 attacks, 4+ against AP-2, etc…
love the terminators paintjob!
Thank you 😊 I love the scarab occult models so much
The morning sun hit the ruined buildings and draped long shadows over the parched and dusty ground. Shas'nel P'pe'e and Mirage company moved from shadow to shadow cautiously, weapons readied. Truth told, P'pe'e was uncomfortable. Were It up to him, they would not have come here. The visibility was appalling, there were plenty of places for ambushers to hide . But Aun P'u'pu had been insistent; it was, she argued, important to understand the Gue'la culture, such as it was, in order to better illuminate them on the benefits of the greater good. P'pe'e remained unconvinced. From what he could tell, Gue'la "culture" consisted of shooting at anyone that wasn't Gue'la and, quite often, other Gue'la. Apparently, this warranted them investigating any ruined settlement that Aun P'u'pu deemed of interest. P'pe'e was sure that this was all for Tau'va. After all, Aun P'u'pu was an ethereal, and therefore beyond reproach.
P'pe'e went over to where the robed figure stood on their hover drone, and waited respectfully as they posed and took image captures with a small camera attached to the tip of their honour blade. They noticed P'pe'e and hovered over excitedly.
"P'pe'e! Come and take a picture with me! This building is 5000 years old. According to my guide drone, it was the district court! Isn't that mad?" Some small part of P'pe'e baulked at the idea, but he found himself nodding his assent and standing stoically whilst Aun P'u'pu leant in close and posed.
"Honoured Aun," P'pe'e began respectfully, as the ethereal moved the ceremonial blade around to get different angles. "I must insist that we return to the enclave.
You are not safe out here!"
Aun P'u'pu waved aside his concerns, and drifted further down the street, and began examining another ruin. She turned and spoke to P'pe'e. "Your problem, Shas'nel, is that you worry too much."
No sooner had the words left her, than the
Air behind her shimmered with a hazy azure light and five creatures appeared in the shadows of the ruin behind her, vicious blades glinting in the shafts of light which punctured the ruined wall. Clawed feet clattered against Rockcrete as they leapt from their elevated position towards P'u'pu, their wicked beaks thrown wide in a Cawing, shrieking warcry. Shas'nel P'pe'e shouted a warning, and raised his Pulse r*fle, but before the horned monstrosities could land a blow or he could pull the trigger, The creatures were plucked from the air by a volley of fire, incandescent bolts rupturing and burning blue flesh as Shas'vre S'pu'tum materialised his Ghoostkeel to destroy them.
Aun P'u'pu looked down at the mutilated bodies and looked up at P'pe'e, a look of shock upon her face. To her credit, she maintained her composure as she spoke. "I think perhaps, you are right, Shas'nel. We should return to the Enclave." Shas'nel P'pe'e sighed and raised his weapon, scanning the ruins for more threats.
"Mirage company! Defensive positions! Shas'Vre S'pu'tum! Overwatch! Mirage-01! With me, protect Aun P'u'pu! Mirage-02, engage stealth field generators and advance. Delay the enemy while we arrange extraction!"
Mirage company acknowledged the orders, and took up their positions as P'pe'e turned to address the Shaken ethereal.
"I am afraid it is too late for that. I have sent an extraction request, but we are several minutes away. Stay close, and should I give the order, run. Run and remember. We will hold them off. This is Tau'va."
And without waiting for a response, he turned and chambered to the roof of the ruin.
Aun P'u'pu stood silent in the morning shadows, face downcast, as once more, cawing, shrieking cries began to echo from the walls around her.
Why did the Tau guided more than one unit in a shooting phase?
The rule goes:
Until the end of the phase, this unit is
considered a Guided unit, and that friendly unit is considered
an Observer unit. Then select one enemy unit that is visible
to both your units to be their Spotted unit
It is until the end of the phase that two units are Guided and Observer.
Also the ethereum cant be a spotter
I love watching Monday night waaaagh. Hope you guys are enjoying your week.
It's been a great week so far and we shot a slightly different vid for next week yesterday!
Another great video, thanks! And congrats to Beanie for passing the 500 mark on Instagram! 🎉
Nothing like a monday night WAAAAAAGH! What colours are used for the blue of the thousand sons? Looks awesome, metallic?
That's a Beanie special recipe of inks, sprays and a whole lot of Tzeentch-riddled spells! I'm sure he'll share it down the line!
Yeah... not entirely certain that the whole Combat patrol system is 100% balanced yet. Imagine it will even out as they release new ones throughout the edition.
And to clarify the rules debate,
A saving throw can never be improved by more than +1 .
So It depends on whether or not the Enhancement gives them Cover, improves the saving throw, or improves the save characteristic.
If it gives Cover, would mean you wouldn't get Cover, as the cover rule states- Multiple instances of the Benefit of Cover are not cumulative - a model cannot
benefit from this rule more than once at any one time.
If it improves the save characteristic, they'd get cover in the specific example, as it only says Models with a Save characteristic of 3+ or better cannot have the Benefit of Cover
against attacks with an Armour Penetration characteristic of 0.
So my interpretation of the sequence if the ethereal improves the save characteristic is :
1. Allocate the target.
2. Improve the Sv (so up to 3+ here)
3. Apply cover (so 2+)
3.worsen the save throw by AP. (-3 here)
4. Saves on a 5+.
Then FNP.
if the ethereal gives cover it is:
1. Allocate the target.
2. Apply cover (so 3+)
3.worsen the save throw by AP. (-3 here)
4. Saves on a 6+.
Then FNP.
if the ethereal gives +1 to the throw:
1. Allocate the target.
2. Apply cover or improve the throw (so 3+)
3.worsen the save throw by AP. (-3 here)
4. Saves on a 6+.
Then FNP.
Even if it all happened simultaneously, when two or more rules are to be resolved at the same timet, the player whose turn it is chooses the order, so it would work out the same as Beanie would choose the best outcome for him.
Definitely needs clarification though, and I may be wrong.
Little note for Tau players,. when playing against my brother (tau) the ethereal is unable to guide since it states that the unit must be eligible to shoot, he does not have a shooting characteristic therefore unable to do so.
( his brother 😂) fancy seeing your comment here.
as my brother mentioned, it's because ethereal can't shoot technically...
but actually it's because they don't have 'for the greater good' rule/keyword. same for other xeno allies, kroot and vespids don't have the keyword/ability despite being able to shoot.
Go T'au Go!!! Fight for the greater good!
You guys really need to do painting tutorials! These minis are gorgeous! ❤️
Thank you very much! Tbh the Tau were painted by our friend Gareth - you can check his stuff out on Instagram at Nuln_oil_and_water!
Jules, I think it might have gone better if you had focused on the zangors then the lone operative leader, you could have gained board control and lost less, and then tie up terminators with the ghost keel and lots of fallback and shoot.
Also did you miss an overwatch when the lone zangor charged your squad? Would have been hitting on 4s right? 😅
Save in cover can not be improved better than 3+, all modifiers are still taken in account. Just like in a hit roll, all modifiers are counted even thou the roll can not be modified more than a +1/-1,
Gotcha! thanks for the clarification - we did end up playing it right but it was a bit confusing for a moment there!
Y’all have any recommendations for a terrain set to start playing combat patrol games with?
I would say you can't go wrong with the tt combat MDF terrain sets. Superb value and they look great. If you are looking for more gw focused then I'd see if someone is selling some of the kill team terrain on eBay. Perfect for a small game.
@@beanie1636the MDF kits do look great. I think Octarius spoiled me as I want something with that kind of flexibility again.
HAPPY MONDAY SAUSAGES!!! ❤
Happy Monday, you wonderful person!
@@beanie1636 thanks sausage your a legend! 👍
@@leeshrubsole6344 thank you so much and I appreciate the fact you comment on loads of our vids. It really means a lot 😁
@@beanie1636 it's the least I can do I love your videos this makes my Monday thanks for always replying I really appreciate it
You gave it your all, Jules. But Tau have no teeth in 10th Ed. All glass, no cannon.
Great video, as always, though 👍
I just needed a few/one way to make things Ap-1 but there just isn't much spice in the regular units at present!
How did you paint Ahrak's cloak like that? Its awesome!
KILL TEAM!!! Please 😂😂😂
Don't you worry, there'll be a fun Kill team coming up soon!
@@beanie1636 that's awesome you guys are great. Thank you for the hard work
Saw you on Winters SEO and think you guys are awesome! Subscribed babbbyyyyyy
Weeeey! thank you so much!
Yea Tau! For the greater good! Tell me, are all streets of Brobnaar ruined?
Not to be like that but not including the drones in the tau army certainly diminished its fire power. They might not be the best troops but for a faction where shooting is the main strategy. Excluding them feels like shooting yourself in the foot.
Hi Guys, Just wondering does anyone know if the Fireblade give himself the extra shot? the way i read it.. the extra shots apply to the unit hes in.. I hope im wrong, cause my Tau CP need every little bit of help they can get
Fireblade buffs himself as long as he's leading a unit. He also buffs the support turret in a striketeam.
love combat patrol content keep em coming!
turn one your tau gets no save as the warpsmite has anti Inftraty +4 and he rolled a 4 to wound so a tau fire warrior is dead at 11:36
I thought a regular save doesn’t cover a critical hit?
That's a Kill team rule, not a 40k one. 🙂

Laughs in 10th!
I really really really wish Jules would roll on camera again. It really throws off the flow of the vids. It was okay when it was incidental fire but he jump cuts for everything now 😢
i like your report but man you complain too much
