Another one from me - how did Stephanie paint her Votann? I've picked up the Kin's Boarding Patrol and the paint job is spot on. (May have swayed me from orange!)
@PlayOnTableTop - When Nick's Ghostkeel Falls Back in the 4th round, it passes through the Votann. Shouldn't this have triggered a Desperate Escape test? I feel like this might have had a drastic impact on the match!
She also has some of the best painted Leviathan box tyranids out of anyone I've seen. Would be awesome the see the combat patrol for them on the battlefield!
Amazing guest and will gladly have her back. She did shoot one more Combat Patrol with us while here so watch out for her Space Wolves in the near future.
I love her! She is so damn fun and energetic and that is saying a lot next to Nick. I hope she has time to come play much, much more in the future. What an incredible personality.
Ngl the fact that first turn seems to be more set up than kill as much as you can feels a lot better imo. I hated losing so much of my army on the first turn.
Great video! Well done all. Stephanie needs to be a regular guest/honorary PlayOn team member. There are not many people that can match Nick's energy but she managed it.
Nick seems like such a fun opponent, every roll was exciting and I could tell that he really cares whether or not his opponent is having a good time. 10/10 keep up the good work!
As someone who never was interested in playing 40k before, 10th is looking so good. As someone who likes skirmish games more so than big scale and love collecting and playing a bunch of armies, combat patrol is looking oh so good
This match was tons of fun to watch. Nick and Stephanie matching each other's energy while their armies swap licks on the tabletop is just an absolute hoot. Plus, it's nice to see that Tau can hold their own against Votan in 10th given how a number of us Tau players have mixed feelings about this edition
Wonderful production value on your videos! You’ve gained a fan! I especially appreciate the inside thoughts for each player as it makes the game more human. All the editing is top notch!
Man, Stephanie is auch an awesome player! She both has great energy and a sound tactical mind with that Ghostkeel lure! Can’t wait to see her more on the channel)
Those Votann mini's have inspired me to make that my first 40k army in... 20 years. I hope I can paint half as good as Stephanie's army. Those look hella awesome!
Follow up questions: 1. the observer unit can attack the same or another target without getting any penalty? 2. Can another unit become an observer for a unit that is an observer itself guiding another unit?
Got this answer and I thought I should share it. 1. yes 2. no Here is the answer: let's make it easy. I have 3 units: strike team, breacher team and stealth team. You have two units: devilfish and hammerhead. Strike team goes to shoot. I say "I want this unit to be guided." I then say, "I want my breachers to be observers." I then say. "They both can see the devilfish, so it's Spotted." I then instantly resolve my strike team's shooting. If they shoot at the devilfish, they are +1 BS. If I shoot the hammerhead they are -1 BS. I go to shoot my stealth team. I want to guide them, but my Strike team is not eligible to shoot, and my Breacher team is already an Observer, so this unit can't be guided by anyone. I resolve their shooting at normal BS, regardless of target. I now go to shoot my breacher team. They are currently an Observer. Because they're an Observer I can't make them a Guided unit. I resolve their shooting at normal BS, no matter which target I'm shooting. Even if I went to shoot the breachers second, my stealth team would not be able to guide the breachers, because as an observer the breachers can not themselves be guided. I think the majority of the confusion comes from the fact that the choice to guide a unit or not triggers when that unit shoots, rather than when the observer does something.
@@SpacusstultusOnly problem with that answer is the Strike Team is still 'eligible to shoot'. Designer Commentary clarified that 'eligibility to shoot' is lost only from Assault and Fall Back, you don't even need to have a ranged weapon to be eligible. Observers can't be chosen to be Guided as specifically mentioned in the rule, but not that Guided can't become Observers. RAW you can chain units if they all have line of sight, but I doubt that is intended.
Just learning the game and getting started and these videos are amazing. Your production quality is unreal. It’s like watching warhammer on cable tv. Can’t wait to pick out my first set and dive into combat patrol and kill team.
Did not think that combat patrol would be good, but I was wrong you make it looks fun, Glad to see new players enjoying the games. Keep up the good work love you guys
I really like how combat patrols are their own game now. It can be a very time consuming hobby. Keep the videos coming, would love to see how the different sets match up.
Great Game!!! THX! ... oh .. by the way... my little daughter ( 8 J ) said, you two, Stephanie and Nick are the ultimate match for a perfect Love Story :-DDDDDDD... so cute :-D
Love the way you edit and cut the video. Its like a real TV series. Like the fuck wow hahahaha. And well done from all three (Nick, Steph and announcer) of you! 😊
One of my fav battle reps you guys have done so far! Gets me hyped to buy some combat patrols for myself (when i have money that is) You should get Ninjon on here as a special guest!
I have not started playing 40K yet and watching lots of videos to understand the game more and what to fit first. Of everything I have watched combat control seems to be the way to go with a shorter and easier game that seems to be sooo exciting and also in the balance too. Loved watching this game 😍👏🏻🙌🏻👌🏻
I do enjoy the awesome west coast canadian accents, reminds me when i lived there for a few years (aussie). Great game, would luv to see Stephanie be a regular

The comment section of this video really just turned into the Orions Belt Fanclub.
@DyerLid suggest checking out her channel www.youtube.com/@OrionsBeltMinis
@phigu198 that is just fine. She deserves the attention.
@PlayOnTableTop - When Nick's Ghostkeel Falls Back in the 4th round, it passes through the Votann. Shouldn't this have triggered a Desperate Escape test? I feel like this might have had a drastic impact on the match!
Oh please do have Stephanie back as some sort of regularly returning guest as her army grows, this was so wonderfully pleasant.
We shot one more game with her and her Space Wolves before she returned home. She is invited back any time she wishes
Christ bless you, YAYYYYYYYYY!!! WE LOVE STEPHANIE
She also has some of the best painted Leviathan box tyranids out of anyone I've seen. Would be awesome the see the combat patrol for them on the battlefield!
Simpy hahaha
The "bbrbbbrbbrrbrbrbrbr" when she moved the bikes was exactly the kind of thing I want to see in a game haha, this was great
You gotta give Nick props for making guests feel fantastic when they get clutch rolls.
Nick and Stephanie are a great match up due to their energy.
They certainly are!
They have their own unique type of energy, yet work together so well, which is so awesome!
Heritical xenos energy 😫
I love that you guys are doing a combat Patrol Series. This really will help the beginners in the community. Keep up the great work Play On!
We want more friends and more people in this amazing community
As a newbie. These are great. Great move by gw as well. Nice to have a game ready so easily.
Hell I'm not a beginner and I'm interested in combat patrol
We need to see Stephanie more often on the channel! Her energy matches you guys so well
Amazing guest and will gladly have her back. She did shoot one more Combat Patrol with us while here so watch out for her Space Wolves in the near future.
Nick's wail/fall at 26:32 has me wheezing xD
Thanks for coming up to the studio and being an amazing guest
The best thing is that we can hear the dull *thud* of a saddened Nick hitting the floor.
The Ancestors are pleased!
Rock & Stone Sister! Love to see Votann representation!
Rock and Stone!!
For someone who decided a month ago to get into 40k and bought both T`au and Votann combat patrtols, its like you made this video for me
Welcome to the community!
Exactly the same for me. I only have combat patrol boxes for votann and tau and I'm so happy to see it played out here!
Oh bro, prepare to be the butt of the joke, always.
If you cant take it, drop tau, this is a friendly warning
Stephanie and Nick play off each other so well, we need more of her!
I love her! She is so damn fun and energetic and that is saying a lot next to Nick. I hope she has time to come play much, much more in the future. What an incredible personality.
Nick is always so excited, I always have to root for him!
Ngl the fact that first turn seems to be more set up than kill as much as you can feels a lot better imo. I hated losing so much of my army on the first turn.
Absolutely. In our games we are finding that first turn alpha strike isn't there or as harsh.
@@PlayOnTabletopwhat makes you feel the difference is that 1st turn alpha strikes arenr as common in 10th?
Production value of these episodes continues to raise the bar for 40K :)
Wanna see more of her armies seems like they are really well painted and she clearly enjoys commanding them
Votann bring massive amount of firepower stack up 3 units of 10 hearthguard and let em loose!
You can’t take three units hearthguard in patrol. The army’s are fixed in that mode
@jane.6072 yeah i got all excited and noticed it was combat patrol my bad
As someone who never was interested in playing 40k before, 10th is looking so good. As someone who likes skirmish games more so than big scale and love collecting and playing a bunch of armies, combat patrol is looking oh so good
Love the combat patrol system as a whole. You guys bringing your tried and true POT production quality to this smaller format is gonna be a real treat
The energy in this fight is pure joy to watch
I just bought that tau combat patrol and can’t wait to assemble them. They look really fun!
That was a fun episode to watch. Could really see the enjoyment from the both 😁
y'all are a regular production studio now. Top quality stuff. I particularly enjoyed the breakaway interviews in between turns. Keep it up fellas!
Amazing episode guys, Stephanie's energy really complemented Nick's and it was awesome to see some combat patrol!
I'm very excited for this series. Really fun video, and fun to see Turbo Dork as the sponsor. I think it's the best color shift around!
Definitely. We are going to be painting some Custodes with Turbo Dork

Those Votann are gorgeous! Great game all around.
@OrionsBeltMinis is incredibly talented with her painting
Great close game and amazing positive energy from them both. Looking forward to Stephanie’s other game now.
Great game, and very cool seeing someone new on the channel. Stephanie had great energy.
A great game, tight all the way to the end! Two beautiful armies too!
Well played Stephanie, definitely wanna see more games from her!
This is such a more digestible battle size. Great editing as always and can't wait for Orion back with Space Wolves!
These two are so much fun to watch! Just lots of fun and good sportsmanship. This game was a pleasure to watch
This so so much fun to watch! A nail biter to the end! Well done Stephanie I hope she returns and brings more Space Dwarves with her!
Wonderful production value on your videos! You’ve gained a fan!
I especially appreciate the inside thoughts for each player as it makes the game more human. All the editing is top notch!
Man I love that red from Tau nick. Awesome to see Stephanie on the channel her channel needs more love.
Turbo Dork Red Rum. Not only are they sponsors of the channel but we have met them in the wilds a couple times and they are great humans too
Love this and the kill team videos! Can't wait for the GSC patrol match!!
I love a nice unbiased and neutral shoutcaster "YEAH GETTUM KILL KILL" 😂🤣
Nick seems like he wakes up early in the morning whistling and skipping out of bed with a big smile on his face.
Glad the guest won she looked so happy to win those cute dice!
Votann "we got yer pulse weapons right heya…” 😅😅😅
Another great video! So glad for the Crossover, I love it when my favorite RUclipsrs get together!
great report , and Stephanie HAS to come back , great fun , and her army was so well done.
The Ghostkeel jumps up between the rocks, out of reach of the small angry Votann below. 🤣🤣
Man, Stephanie is auch an awesome player! She both has great energy and a sound tactical mind with that Ghostkeel lure! Can’t wait to see her more on the channel)
Great show! I feel like I got a better feel for how things should work. Nice balance of explanation and fast-pace.
Great video! I loved the battle report and I love to see those epic cinematic moments like the Kahl taking down the Ghostkeel there near the end.
I always appreciate everyone’s sportsmanship in your videos
When Stephanie made sound effects as she moved her units, I half expected Nick to propose right then
Not sure either Stephanie's husband or Nick's wife would have liked that. Still, I think a great friendship was formed this game.
Those Votann mini's have inspired me to make that my first 40k army in... 20 years. I hope I can paint half as good as Stephanie's army. Those look hella awesome!
Question here. When you split fire as an guided unit, then half of the shots were 3+ and the others 5+ to hit, right??
Yep. You never split fire with guided units as Tau now.
Yep!

That was fun. Looking forward to trying the new play mode myself. Nick’s seems like a cool dude.
Doesnt the ghostkeel get to shrug off all damage twice per game? Didnt see that used
The combat patrol rules make some minor changes to data sheets to balance the match ups so the ghostkeel doesn’t get that ability here.
This looks like fun! I mostly just paint minis, but now i think i might start playing the game.
That sounds like Stephanie's journey too.
Stephanie what a great and jolly combatant, excellent pairing with nick. loved the battle :)
She was having a blast, and it really shone through.. fantastic episode
The fact that Tau had STANDBY behind them was all the foreshadowing I needed. XD
Lol. We are still getting use to our new equipment.
Go Votann! I’m getting my combat patrol kit this weekend! This video gave me so much inspiration to get back into 40K! Rock On!! 😂
the terrain set that every game store has xD looks like an awesome game, welcome to the PoT team Stephanie!

WHAT? Orions Belt Stephanie! That's so cool 😊 This was really entertaining.
Nick is really a blessing for RUclips 40k. Such a good sport
It is nice to see good people having fun!
This was such a close game! Love Stephanie and Nick's positivity! We Orks players could take a few notes from how good sports they are!
Great game. Great guest! Glad to see Nick-Tau out and about again.
This has got to be one of your best videos yet!
The energy here was unparalleled. Loved it, Rock and Stone!

Amazing game, as always! Stephanie is a great guest and player; I can't wait for her space wolves to come out!
Great vid, liked the positivity and the effects. Good stuff.

This just seems like a way better version of 40k. Great batrep as always:)
More combat patrol for all us just getting into the hobby
At 19:50, why does the ghostkeel hit overwatch on a 5+ instead of a 6+? I couldnt find any rule for this
Sneaky Stephanie did a great job!
That was a close match... well played!
