    Fleece liner is a godsend especially if you get a rabbit sized toilet for the pigs. It'll save you SO much time and money with maintenance.
    We did that through a fabric store and our pigs love it way more then the bedding. If you do diy though your gonna want a layer of vinyl under it to prevent seeping into the hardwood.
    Our herd loves it and could not be happier with the blue mountains liner.

    • @kayesguineapigs
      @kayesguineapigs 6 лет назад +1

      What do you use for the rabbit size toilet? I have a bunny and he uses a turkey roaster for his hay and urine. He is young and poops everywhere though. I uses both fleece and pine bedding.(not in the same cage)I would use aspen but am allergic to it.

    • @rokusho6667
      @rokusho6667 6 лет назад

      @@kayesguineapigs for the toilet itself we use a mix of their old bedding (eco straw and paper) along with critter litter to train them to do their business mostly there. Eventually we plan to do just the litter but that won't be for sure until we run out of the old stuff first. Every thing else is fleece.

    • @ArvalothNightstrider
      @ArvalothNightstrider 6 лет назад +1

      I bought litter boxes for cats, sawed holes into it, ground them smooth and put a lid on it(a piece of wood). will save alot of time and money yes. I clean them once a day.

      How is a fleece liner different from regular fleece for bedding?

    • @ythenamezezima
      @ythenamezezima 5 лет назад +1

      @@Taifune81 it has bamboo (or a uhaul pad) in the middle for absorption, and then polyester on the bottom to make it leak proof

    You'll definitely enjoy the change to fleece. The guineas will love it too. It costs a lot of money up front, but the savings over time are well worth it.

  • @ranitadechocolate27
    @ranitadechocolate27 6 лет назад +51

    I love the fleece liners from Guinea Dad, it's the best purchase I've ever done for my 2 guinea pigs.
    One thing I can recommend is to seriously ger rid of the hay racks and use the ones that can be attached to the walls and under them place only the bottom of a cat litter or a small box so they can jump in and enough bedding in there, so they eat the hay without making a lot of mess inside the cage, I personally use this method as it saves me a lot of time cleaning the fleece as I don't have to take small hay pieces out.

    • @Taifune81
      @Taifune81 6 лет назад

      Adriana Guadron I'm sorry I didn't quite understand, what did you do to reduce mess? I need to know xD

    • @ranitadechocolate27
      @ranitadechocolate27 6 лет назад +2

      Use a cat litter box, add some bedding, put it under the hay rack and let the guinea pigs eat the hay there.
      The hay stays mostly in the cat litter and you don’t have to scoop the hay out of the fleece

    • @Taifune81
      @Taifune81 6 лет назад

      Adriana Guadron thanks so much for the tip! I will try it out

      I just ditch hayracks altogether and once in the morning when I give vegetables I put them on the top floor and the piggies go up there then I take the fleece on the bottom level roll it up and dump it in a bin then do the same for the top level when I put the hay in

    • @katherineanderson3694

    Your pigs are so adorable! I did an experiment with mine where I replaced their fleece with wood shavings for two weeks. It was too messy so I switched back to the fleece and got instant nonstop popcorning and racing around for 20 minutes. My pigs were very happy to have their fleece back. I get this reaction every time I put new fleece in now too. lol I hope yours enjoy it as much!

    I have been thinking about switching to fleece but haven't because I didn't want her to be walking around on wet material in between bedding changes. Now that I have found this brand through you I am definitely going to save up my money to invest in a few of these! The way these are made are so much better than just the fleece material sheets I have seen other people use that have to be changed at least once a day. I am very excited to order a few of these so I can stop using shavings that make her sneeze for a day or two every time I do a cage cleaning. Thank you for making this video!

    I use Stall Dry wood pellets and then a shallow layer of pine shavings on top. The Stall Dry is amazing. It never smells. Have had the same bag in for 5 weeks now. I just once a week clean off the pine bedding and stir around the Stall Dry. Then put a new shallow layer of bedding on top and it's good to go for another week. No spot cleaning necessary. I love it.

    I've tried the Guinea Dad fleece liners and although they are great in many ways, the hay stubbornly sticks to them and is difficult to remove before laundering. I live in a condo and it's difficult because I can't take the liners outside and try to get the hay off. They don't allow residents to shake out carpets or towels so I end up trying to do it inside and it's just a huge frustration since the hay gets embedded into these liners. Just thought I would inform everyone of my experience with these particular liners. They may work for some, but in my case I had to switch to another liner which works better for my situation.

    I actually used fleece lining before in my box cages, but they soil so fast because the absorbent layer traps urine. Also, my three girls constantly try to burrow under the sheets, so I had to clamp down along the edges - which made changing sheets a bigger hassle than necessary.
    It's a shame, because I did like the advantages it had: softer surface; customizable aesthetics; easier spot-cleaning. But in terms of simplicity, required workload and installation complexity, wood shavings just won me over.
