Thanks to your videos, I have gotten him out of the small cage that the pet store sold us, and now have a 2 Midwest cages combined together. Now, I have won the battle for a 2nd guinea pig with my parents, and we are getting him next week! Thank you so so so much.
I made the mistake of a small cage for my guinea pig babies and I had no idea until I seen videos like this and when I made the change to a 2x5 two story cage with a ramp they loved it so much after 2 months of let store sized cage of jail cell size torture......literally one of them ran around in a circle a bunch of times flat out and excitedly weeking, it was uber cute and make me feel so bad for not realising how sad they must have been in the uncaring pet store cages I was tricked into buying.
So happy your piggy is getting a friend!!! It’s so important… when I got one for my Christmas piggy, they got along and then out of nowhere they started fighting :( drawing blood and bad bad fights to the point my little Mochi had a abscess cause of the gashes he got from the fights… I eventually separated them and I felt so bad cause I knew Mochi wanted a buddy but they just didn’t get along.. so I got him a new friend and they are BFFL’s!! They love having a cage mate❤
Thank you for bringing up the getting more than one guinea pig because I've seen people online saying that they have one guinea pig and they're fine and I'm here saying to myself "They need a partner! That's so important!"
What should i do? my mom will NOT let me get another guinea pig and i know its important to give them a friend but she wont budge..is there anything i can give him so he wont be lonely or sad? also i have school during the day so i cant play with him all the time
Maybe organise with your friends to go out shopping and buy another Guinea pig then?? Not sure though but it worked for me bc my dad didn’t let me have pets so me and my mam went shopping and bought a rat.
This is a year ago, and i dont even know if the guinea pig is still here, but if it is, you NEED to tell your mom it can die from depression. They are not independant, in the wild they travel in large herds and your guinea pig will die from depression. Explain that to your mom, you can also search it up and show it to your mom
Both of my boys are sadly pet store piggies, since they were given as a birthday gift. I was unable to care for them properly since my parent hated them, and I was too young to work. Now, I have a job, and this video helped me figure out what was missing from my Guinea pig set up and figure out what I need to get to make my boys as happy as possible. Thank you so much.

So sorry to hear about Lyra, Sarah. What a beautiful tribute you gave her - I am still wiping the tears away. Since we were gifted a piggie I have learned a lot from you. I wish I had known that Cookie needed a friend. When I found out, the girl at the pet store made it sound like more trouble and hassle than I could handle. My piggie is lonely. I have had my piggie since early February, and I still don't even know what sex it is, as it is very skittish. It popcorns everywhere if I try to hold it, yet it purrs, eats out of my hand and kisses me. I spend a lot of time with my piggie as a result of all of this. Thanks for all that you do, Sarah, and your piggies are watching over you, my dear!
I originally got 1 and then immediately realised no he needs a buddy and my neighbour happened to have had some accidental babies so we got him a friend and now around a year later they are adorable together

I have two cute Abyssinians with crests, one bicolor and one tortoise shell color, and I couldn’t be happier! I've built my piggies queendome. It fits perfectly in the spot I've chosen in the lounge-room and I've got just about everything to expand it from its 2x5 to 3x5 for later piggies. The girls are outside mowing the lawn so they will get a nice surprise this afternoon when I bring them back in. I did find not to put out too much in pellets as they have no objection pooing and peeing in the bowl.
Your videos really helped me with my guinea pigs we are getting at two storey hutch for ours but it is safe BC it has a big ramp thx for your videos ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
We put fish and chip shop paper on top of old tablecloths, then add bath mats and waterproof mats for the other half. We used to use a fleece blanket but also had wood shavings which kept sticking to the blanket so we moved to the bath mats. Love my poopy potatoes 🥔
Definitely agree with the one about the bowls. One of the bowls I have for my piggies (bc they don’t share very well), my male piggy yeets it and spills the pellets all over. I’ve found glass bottles better too. My boy piggy likes to pull it and let it whack back against their cage. This lead to the discovery that the metal drinking part could be pulled out of the part it attaches with, which doesn’t happen with glass bottles. A couple other things I’ve found useful is a big box so you can fluff the hay and it won’t be as compressed as in the bag. A good stiff brush helps too if you use fleece. It really helps to brush off poops and hay before washing

Anytime I run into any issues I watch your videos. My daughter got one for her birthday a year ago we ended up getting covid and we couldn't spend too much time with him so as soon as we got the OK we went and got a brother for him. Fur babies are taking over my house because I say a poor baby alone at petco so I had to get him their was no way I was going to leave him so now I have 3, Lucky Gizzmo and Nugget They are beyond spoiled they now have my dinning room all for them and my table I had to put I'm storage because I hate them being in a small space so now they have a townhouse plenty of room to run around and play they have so many things that I switch them off and on so they don't get bored they truly help me with my depression too, but now I want 1 more but my husband says I'm nuts and looking like a crazy person.....thank you for all your help with these videos sending love to all your fur babies

I am glad to see so much new information compared to when I was back in high school. Now I will admit I spontaneously rescued a guinea from the shelter as I couldn't stand to see her there. So we have her in a temp kaytee starter one, like the dresser top size. But I do intend to get the bigger one but I have to rearrange our space to get a table for the Midwest one to be on so our dog can't eat her 😅😢 and my toddler doesn't agitate her. But he loves her already. He just doesn't realize how quick he can surprise her. But she has adjusted finally, and we are spoiling her with fresh greens each day. ❤
I love ginepigs I have one and it is in a 4 by 8 I know it's a lot of space for a little ginepig but she is so happy it's more than half of my room I have a small room I love your videos I really enjoy watching your videos with my ginepig I love you 💖🍄🐹
so the Midwest is a great option but had the Kaytee been available when i was first looking for cages i would have been all over that. I like that its flat doors instead of the the lifted arches.
In America, you can go to Joanne's fabric and buy fleece remnants. For 7$, I got enough for probably 4 Bedding changes, before I would have to do any laundry. And I have a very very large pen.

I've just got my first guinea pig. He is on his own unfortunately I was told he started attacking his brother I do want a companion for him as I do know they are best in 2 or more. I am new to this so it's nice to find this video. I'm gonna get him a c and c cage and do fleece as it does seem a lot better. X

Where exactly do you get food from? I’m getting my first pair Guinea pigs in a month or so and I’m having a little trouble about the diet, I just don’t know where to look for it and I’m getting a bit scared I’m going too get unhealthy food. I overthink a lot.
I had 2 GP for years, years and never gave them hay. They were beautiful and healthy and squeaky, pop happy. Their teeth were kept worn by the GP pellets. This was over 35 years ago when internet wasn't even a thought, just books to study. But if I owned one now, I would give hay, if just to watch them eat. Love that part of them. I did give clover once a week, but very small amount. And a big bowl of water. One GP loved racing into her water bowl lol. SO much better info now.

Yes totaly agree i do think they should be a law on the cage size being sold.. the cnc cage can be very cheap and easy Customizable ,, pets at home only sell them in pairs with is fantastic
I love my two piggies very much, and they are very well behaved.The thing is, I do not have a larger space for my girls if I wanted to make their cage larger. Right now, they have a 4x2 C&C cage. I am thinking about getting a loft, but I don’t know if it will be harmful to my piggies. They have benefited very much from your videos, and they help very much! Thank you, and your potatoes!♥

PAH nuggets smell great but the main ingredient seems to be alfalfa so not meant to be given to GP over 6 months. I’m just switching to burgess mint nuggets and my piggies love them! It still has alfalfa (Lucerne) but it’s not the first ingredient listed. Your vids really helped me as a first time GP owner. TY
Useful to know! Yes I had heard about alfalfa in burgess which has confused me in the past! I think they are still good nuggets but would not be the best for a piggie prone to bladder stones.

We have them outside, because my mom is allergic to hay, so they need to stay outside. We still give them much attention ven when it rains, so I am still so happy we could have them Love you Joy❤ and Bobby❤
My pigs like sunburst dry pellets and they get oxbow brand Timothy hay and sweet grass blend. They were very picky with the straight hay and like the blend better.
I have two male Guinea pigs called Harry and Charlie they were bred by my friends family and they are so sweet but a little bit crazy. My dad used to be a carpenter so he helped me build an amazing wooden pen with mesh around it. There is Astro turf in there and they have thick fleece blankets that they burrow into and as they are outside and s it can get cold my mum got two heat pads that go in the micro wave and come out really hot. We wrap them up and put them in with the pigs. They sleep on them and are nice and warm. I got my pigs when I was a bit younger and didn’t look after them very well so my mum had to do it. I decided a while ago that I was going to look after them to the best of my ability and look after them myself. It’s going great. Thanks for the videos xx
I just adopted a rescue, Loki. He’s very independent, full of sass, dominant, and I have been told he is better off being an “only”. I think there are exceptions to the rule, just as there are for humans.
@@hailey2255 This little guy had a traumatic past. He and his two brothers were thrown into a dumpster and abandoned. I am an abuse victim myself, so I “get him”, and am giving him all the time and space he needs to recover. BTW, the rescue people named him “Loki’, who I am sure you know is the God of mischief, so once he gets acclimated, I will have a handful (and I love it).
We inherited a beautiful bull. He’s called Boss Man. We’re improving his home and his food! We are considering adopting another piggy but are worried he’s too bossy…

I made the change from a pet store jail cell cage to a 2x5 cxc cage woth a ramp and 2nd story loft with fleece flooring and little tents to hide in and i twll you they weee rhat happy they qeeked and ran in circles popcorning throqing their back legs up in the air and it was the cutwst thing id ever seen and also made me feel so guilty for not even realising the torture i had then endure in a little mouse sized cage that gad then trapped and in fear and fighting each other (well, the bigger one bullied the smaller one) and just not nice for them at all but thanks to informative channels like this i made the changes to ensure my piggies had a much better quality life and feeling incluaive in the family as the social animals they are which i had no idea i thought they were just simple minded and like a mouse or fish! Pet stores need to get there act together there must be millions of piggies that have had one a hell of a sad life because of these pet stores.......it hurts me to know this truth and how terrible that is for these cutest and most loving of animals!!!!!

I have a cage from pets at home, however I have tried to make it as perfect as possible, I took out the extra plastic layer, all of the plastic bottles and things that could harm them. I’m now left with a plastic bottom cage( which will be covered in bedding/fleece liners) metal bars with a lid so my cats can’t get to them. And a size of 120cm by 58cm for 2 Guinea pigs, would this be okay? X
We don’t have enough space inside, but we bought them a massive 5 x 8’ shed made specifically for guinea pigs with installation and I’ve got to say if you can’t have them inside that is a quite a good option. The only problem with it is it was very expensive, we got it from Cherry acres.
When u where talking about cages the first one I saw on the ones u would not recommend was the first guineapig cage I owned anyone reading this DONT GET CAGES FROM PET SHOPS

I am glad to see so much new information compared to when I was back in high school. Now I will admit I spontaneously rescued a guinea from the shelter as I couldn't stand to see her there. So we have her in a temp kaytee starter one, like the dresser top size. But I do intend to get the bigger one but I have to rearrange our space to get a table for the Midwest one to be on so our dog can't eat her 😅😢 and my toddler doesn't agitate her. But he loves her already. He just doesn't realize how quick he can surprise her. But she has adjusted finally, and we are spoiling her with fresh greens each day. ❤

I love ginepigs I have one and it is in a 4 by 8 I know it's a lot of space for a little ginepig but she is so happy it's more than half of my room I have a small room I love your videos I really enjoy watching your videos with my ginepig I love you 💖🍄🐹

so the Midwest is a great option but had the Kaytee been available when i was first looking for cages i would have been all over that. I like that its flat doors instead of the the lifted arches.
In America, you can go to Joanne's fabric and buy fleece remnants. For 7$, I got enough for probably 4 Bedding changes, before I would have to do any laundry. And I have a very very large pen.

I've just got my first guinea pig. He is on his own unfortunately I was told he started attacking his brother I do want a companion for him as I do know they are best in 2 or more. I am new to this so it's nice to find this video. I'm gonna get him a c and c cage and do fleece as it does seem a lot better. X

Where exactly do you get food from? I’m getting my first pair Guinea pigs in a month or so and I’m having a little trouble about the diet, I just don’t know where to look for it and I’m getting a bit scared I’m going too get unhealthy food. I overthink a lot.

I had 2 GP for years, years and never gave them hay. They were beautiful and healthy and squeaky, pop happy. Their teeth were kept worn by the GP pellets. This was over 35 years ago when internet wasn't even a thought, just books to study. But if I owned one now, I would give hay, if just to watch them eat. Love that part of them. I did give clover once a week, but very small amount. And a big bowl of water. One GP loved racing into her water bowl lol. SO much better info now.

Yes totaly agree i do think they should be a law on the cage size being sold.. the cnc cage can be very cheap and easy Customizable ,, pets at home only sell them in pairs with is fantastic
I love my two piggies very much, and they are very well behaved.The thing is, I do not have a larger space for my girls if I wanted to make their cage larger. Right now, they have a 4x2 C&C cage. I am thinking about getting a loft, but I don’t know if it will be harmful to my piggies. They have benefited very much from your videos, and they help very much! Thank you, and your potatoes!♥

PAH nuggets smell great but the main ingredient seems to be alfalfa so not meant to be given to GP over 6 months. I’m just switching to burgess mint nuggets and my piggies love them! It still has alfalfa (Lucerne) but it’s not the first ingredient listed. Your vids really helped me as a first time GP owner. TY
Useful to know! Yes I had heard about alfalfa in burgess which has confused me in the past! I think they are still good nuggets but would not be the best for a piggie prone to bladder stones.

We have them outside, because my mom is allergic to hay, so they need to stay outside.
We still give them much attention ven when it rains, so I am still so happy we could have them

My pigs like sunburst dry pellets and they get oxbow brand Timothy hay and sweet grass blend. They were very picky with the straight hay and like the blend better.

I have two male Guinea pigs called Harry and Charlie they were bred by my friends family and they are so sweet but a little bit crazy. My dad used to be a carpenter so he helped me build an amazing wooden pen with mesh around it. There is Astro turf in there and they have thick fleece blankets that they burrow into and as they are outside and s it can get cold my mum got two heat pads that go in the micro wave and come out really hot. We wrap them up and put them in with the pigs. They sleep on them and are nice and warm. I got my pigs when I was a bit younger and didn’t look after them very well so my mum had to do it. I decided a while ago that I was going to look after them to the best of my ability and look after them myself. It’s going great. Thanks for the videos xx

I just adopted a rescue, Loki. He’s very independent, full of sass, dominant, and I have been told he is better off being an “only”. I think there are exceptions to the rule, just as there are for humans.
@@hailey2255 This little guy had a traumatic past. He and his two brothers were thrown into a dumpster and abandoned. I am an abuse victim myself, so I “get him”, and am giving him all the time and space he needs to recover. BTW, the rescue people named him “Loki’, who I am sure you know is the God of mischief, so once he gets acclimated, I will have a handful (and I love it).

I made the change from a pet store jail cell cage to a 2x5 cxc cage woth a ramp and 2nd story loft with fleece flooring and little tents to hide in and i twll you they weee rhat happy they qeeked and ran in circles popcorning throqing their back legs up in the air and it was the cutwst thing id ever seen and also made me feel so guilty for not even realising the torture i had then endure in a little mouse sized cage that gad then trapped and in fear and fighting each other (well, the bigger one bullied the smaller one) and just not nice for them at all but thanks to informative channels like this i made the changes to ensure my piggies had a much better quality life and feeling incluaive in the family as the social animals they are which i had no idea i thought they were just simple minded and like a mouse or fish! Pet stores need to get there act together there must be millions of piggies that have had one a hell of a sad life because of these pet stores.......it hurts me to know this truth and how terrible that is for these cutest and most loving of animals!!!!!

I have a cage from pets at home, however I have tried to make it as perfect as possible, I took out the extra plastic layer, all of the plastic bottles and things that could harm them. I’m now left with a plastic bottom cage( which will be covered in bedding/fleece liners) metal bars with a lid so my cats can’t get to them. And a size of 120cm by 58cm for 2 Guinea pigs, would this be okay? X
That's why I have a really big outdoor cage
We don’t have enough space inside, but we bought them a massive 5 x 8’ shed made specifically for guinea pigs with installation and I’ve got to say if you can’t have them inside that is a quite a good option. The only problem with it is it was very expensive, we got it from Cherry acres.
