Hii! I have a question as I’m wondering about getting a guinea pig! 😊 Do they need to be able to graze on grass? I live in an apartment and it doesn’t have a garden! Also another thing is, do they get scared by dog barking? People walk their dogs by the apartments and the bark SO MUCH! It’s ok if you can answer! :)

I’m thinking of fostering small animals in the future (instead of adopting permanently) this was all inspire thanks to my bunnies and soon we might be getting an upgrade for our bunnies so we will probably have the unnecessary extra space we might as well use!

For a long time I wanted rats as pets, but when I went to summer camp they had a place where you could pet animals and stuff and they had a Guinea pig there who I just LOVED and he loved me (I could tell his emotions because of my knowledge on rats and also when I got home I looked it up again just to make sure). I have 2 guineapigs, both girls. I have alot time for them, they do have hay all the time. And ofcourse vegetables, but not really any dandelion leaves or anything like that because well, there's already LOTS of snow on the ground. Lumi, is a bit bigger pig, compared to her sister Lulu. Lumi loves attention, right now she is sleeping on me. So i don't want to bother her, Lulu loves attention too. Lumi is white, and Lulu has white, black, brown, and dark brown colored fur. But the thing i really need to know is that how often should i bathe my pigs? I know bathing them too often will dry out their skin. So i want to make sure i don't bathe them too much, their fur is short and usually very soft. But it has started to feel a bit rough than usually. They are still young, so could that be because they are getting older? Maybe, but how much do guineapigs usually shed? I love my guineapigs, and i want them to be happy and healthy, so if you have time. Please answer if you can.
I only have one i found out about pairs to late since the other got sold by the time i had the money tho im happy hes ok have him for 7years about to be 8years i don’t want to think when he passes but it something i have to be prepared for the next time i get one in a pair that time it’ll be a long time before i do.
Petsmart dose a 14 day care trial thing so if anything happens within 14 days you can return them and get your money back, so during that time if you find out they’re allergic you can return them

We have short haired guinea pigs and long haired guinea pigs and don't often bathe the short haired ones but they do need one occasionally so every 3 months or so is fine. You can get small pet shampoo but I've also used my own shampoo with ours which is very gentle and free from parabens etc. This page might be helpful re bathing www.guineapiggles.co.uk/can-you-bathe-a-guinea-pig. We will be bringing out a bathing video very soon too so thanks ever so much for your feedback and look out for more videos coming soon! :)

GUYS. IF YOU HAVE A MALE GUINEA PIG PLEASE READ THIS!! Around 2 - 3 human years male guinea pigs poop will get blocked up. When that happens they dont eat or drink. PLEASE read this all if you have a male guinea pig. If you have a guinea pig under 2 years. Hold him EVERY day and check his butt. If it looks red/swollen and or has poop stuck. Try and pull/squeeze it out or he will die! Dont make the same mistake i did.. i lost my piggie due to this :( if your male guinea pig does not move, eat or drink, Rush them to a vet! Please. If you have a male guinea pig around 2 - 3 also, keep checking his butt till hes 4 years! dont make the same mistake i did. I hope this helps. bye

Thank you for making this video because I’m getting a guinea pig
Hi Cassandra, I hope this video is helpful and do bear in mind that we always recommend getting a pair of guinea pigs because a single guinea pig can get depressed - you might want to check out our video on "can a guinea pig live alone" ruclips.net/video/88S6bCn6ww8/видео.html. You might also want to check out our website for lots more advice here www.guineapiggles.com :)
I forgot to say that I’m getting to or more
Thank you for this clear information I was thinking of getting one - (under the impression that they don't like to be in a crowd) - mistake number one, mistake number two was thinking that I would have time to care for one (two) I am now having a rethink about taking on the care of 2 Guinea-pigs.
All of your piggies are soo cute and fluffy!! 🥰😍
Thank you :) Mind you, all guinea pigs are super cute and adorable don't you think?!
Guinea Piggles OH MY GOD YES! THEY’RE SOOO CUTE!😍
Agreed!
I might be getting a guinea pig for my birthday so be there actually really useful so anyways thank you for this video
You're welcome :)
@@GuineaPiggles yeah it's a lot of help so if you could do like any more videos like I'm going to watch the second version right now and I hope I learned something new bye
Hello Melody how are you doing
I love the video! It is important people understand the attention and care they require. I was amazed to learn how sociable they are! I got guinea pigs because I could not have a dog in my apartment, and let me tell you they give me more attention than any of my dogs ever did...🥰 My Piggies Boom Boom and Pow Pow are Happy Piggies, we have them in our living room with an open door policy when we're home, so they roam freely ❤
For all you need when you get your first guinea pigs, check out our STARTER KIT LIST guineapiggles.com/guinea-pig-starter-kit
I’m thinking of fostering small animals in the future (instead of adopting permanently) this was all inspire thanks to my bunnies and soon we might be getting an upgrade for our bunnies so we will probably have the unnecessary extra space we might as well use!
I'm watching this video many times as I will have my guinea pigs next week.
We have lots more videos on our channel that will help you learn how to care for your guinea pigs too :)
@@GuineaPiggles Yes thank you so much for the videos I'll have my guinea pigs tomorrow and your videos are really helpful. Thank you so much for the videos.
I'm getting 2 piggies in 2 days, really exited
Hello Vilda how are you doing today
that's so helpful 👍 I'll get piggies this coming week. this is a very informative content for us begginers 🥰🥰
I'm 9 and will care for mine so much. I will feed every day and give water and cut Nails( I will ask my dad to help) and will NOT wash them. And I will love them soo much. Also I have my room pig safe so I will let them free roam in my room and probably let it sleep in my bed if it wants and will clean the poop
There cuteness are music to my ears 👂!
Thanks for sharing this tips, fully watched.Full support friend, see you always
I love that water bottle!! It's so unique, and I don't think they have those in the U.S.! Wonderful video, you're so professional!
Ty im getting 2 boys in tuseday and im so excited and this gided it also my mom knows how to bc she has a guinea pig when she was young
Im about to get 2 guiniea pigs soon so this was very helpful! :)
i have 2 guinea pigs i had them for 3 weeks :)
I'm glad you've found this helpful. We also have loads of info on our website here www.guineapiggles.com that you might find useful
For a long time I wanted rats as pets, but when I went to summer camp they had a place where you could pet animals and stuff and they had a Guinea pig there who I just LOVED and he loved me (I could tell his emotions because of my knowledge on rats and also when I got home I looked it up again just to make sure). So now I’m considering getting Guinea pigs (but rats are still number 1).
Really cute Guinea pigs! And so true❤💕

Very good video! All these facts you are talking about are so true for the pigs! As already having guinea pigs, I would totally recommend this to someone who is looking into getting guinea pigs!

Hi i have a question if i have school is it ok if i leve them to go to school
i used to have a single GUINEA PIG my sister had one two but they didn't get along so they were never in the same cage also make sure they are the same sex having 2 will turn into 100 fast
@@jhakinoff7915 yes just make sure they have their water bottle they use the same one as hamsters that hang also food and they are good to go also make sure the water bottle is working by rubbing your along the ball and make sure water comes out of it yes you can leave them for a weekend just make sure they have food n water i don't think this lady has ever even read a book on taking care of them she would be having them on wood floors for long periods
why don't you use sawdust for their cages
The close caption for "long-haired" came out as "lunkhead" hahaha...Hey reet-rats have feelings too! :) Great presentation and solid facts and knowledge. I'll wager that most people my age (57) in America had reet-rats when we were kids and maybe as teens too and never knew most of this stuff. I'd love to own a pair now but schedule doesn't really permit it.
Omgosh the little brush 🥰🥰🥰
To late and the intro made my guinea pigs squeak and popcorn
The intro always makes my guinea pig squeak !
A good input if you want a lot from your guinea pigs
I will be getting two this week(I think) I hope they do get along and I’m prepared for the commitment I’m just scared I won’t do very good.
If you get them from a rescue, they'll be able to make sure you have a bonded pair so they get along.. We always recommend rescue piggies :) Check out our website for tips on how to care for your guinea pigs and research things and you should be fine :) guineapiggles.com/how-to-look-after-a-guinea-pig
@@GuineaPiggles thank you for assuring me I’m excited for them😁😁😁😁
Her: says many cages online are small
me: gets an AD that says buy rabbit and guinea pig cages online now
Same girl 😂😂😂
SAME!-
SAME!
And rabbits don’t belong in cages! 😩
I pig went crazy for the sound in the intro
Thanks for getting me to know this I might be getting a guinea pig for Christmas
Don't forget to get a pair :) By the way, you might find page on our website helpful. www.guineapiggles.co.uk/how-to-look-after-a-guinea-pig/
Hello Sofia how are you doing today
I’m getting two guniea pigs when I move and this was so helpful Omg❤️❤️
I’m getting my Guinea Pig tomorrow
Thankyou for the information.. Guess I'm going for a plant instead😂
Hello Lisa how are you doing today

I only have one i found out about pairs to late since the other got sold by the time i had the money tho im happy hes ok have him for 7years about to be 8years i don’t want to think when he passes but it something i have to be prepared for the next time i get one in a pair that time it’ll be a long time before i do.
This helped sooooooo much THANK YOU
so beautiful guinea pig
thanks alot for the help and just to show my appreciation i subbed
I learned a lot after getting my two girls. Especially about pooping lol.
They certainly poop a lot! If you have a garden, you can use the poops as manure - they have a similar quality to horse manure!
Guinea Piggles good to know my mom is growing a flower bed and vegetables
I love Guinea pig
Petsmart dose a 14 day care trial thing so if anything happens within 14 days you can return them and get your money back, so during that time if you find out they’re allergic you can return them
Thank you!
Wow I didn’t know this. Thanks for the tip!
How do I create a dui cage? Which stores sells the materials that I would need?
Hello Jaelyn how are you doing today
My mom is a professional hair stylist so we got u lol
Awe I just rescued a little few month old from a family member giving her bad care … I’ve never wanted a piggie or even seen one. So when I heard the noises she made I became in love ! Now I have a Guinea pig child I NEED to learn how to care for ! Yikes 😬
Hello Kristen how are you doing today
Do you recommend bathing for short haired guinea pigs? Also if so how often? Also what shampoo? Maybe you could make a bathing video
Here's a link to our bathing video which we published a few days ago. I hope you find it helpful :) ruclips.net/video/wdyx5Ov8eCs/видео.html
Hello Anne how are you doing today
I can’t wait to get a guinea pig
Thanks for these! I already got one, but yknow. Ill be frons wishing for a new cage for my guinea pig on christmas since they (still dont know their gender) are maybe going to get a friend
You must watch this before getting a guinea pig.
IN SWITZERLAND IT IS ILLEGAL TO HAVE 1 GUINEA PIG
My mom's coworker is offering us her two males, and we're considering it, although not all that seriously. Despite it not being a strong possibility, I'm doing all the research I can.
Ty because I'm getting a guinea pig
Oh ma’am thankyou! I’m getting a guinea pig soon - I didn’t know they could get depressed without another of their kind so it helped a lot, hopefully I won’t be allergic to them since my sinus is very sensitive, I sneeze a lot every day :(
Great video! Very informative :)
Thank you :) I'm glad you liked the video. I guess guinea pigs are much like humans. If we were completely on our own but living with other animals we would probably feel very lonely too.
@@GuineaPiggles ah now that I think about it, you are quite very right. I really appreciate the help! I would’ve been devastate if I made my guinea pig depressed luckily we’re getting two! One female and one male hopefully they’ll be happy with eachother :)
@@commenter594 How’s it going?
I have an elderly piggie who's now 5. His brother crossed the Rainbow 🌈 😢 . He now has 3 girlfriends. The introduction was slow being neighbours for a while. His curiosity got the better of him one evening as he passed their home ever so gingerly and then he turned and ran ! 🤣 When he realised they weren't going to eat him alive he headed back home!
F/F 4 month's and they're one big happy family. The girls love him and I've even seen them giving his face a wash! (In piggie land i really believe they're 💋 😘) Tipsy is every sense a real Gentleman and has NEVER made any advances towards his girls, (strict supervision during floor time back then was undertaken as babies were definitely off the menu!) he's so laid back, he's almost horizontal !😂 Bless his 5 year old Heart ❤ 😍. Maybe there are other male piggies out there who are as unique as my boy. 🐹
I get the best Hello coming through the door after work ! Oh, and the in-betweens too! 😊😍
Hello Beverley how are you doing today
@@RaymondSmith-if6ge Hello Raymond. Thank You.I hope you are well.I took my elderly Guinea Pig to the vet Wednesday afternoon due to his arthritic legs. I could not bare to see my lad in pain. The vet I saw also keeps Guinea Pigs and we knew we had to let Tipsy go. I stayed with him as he slipped away peacefully. Yes, I cried a river, but it was also comforting knowing Tipsy wasn't alone, and so loved as he crossed the Rainbow 🌈.
I have Precious memories of Tipsy who had a big heart and character packed into his little body 😍🐹.
My 3 youngsters are showing all their own characters now. They are wonderful. ❤

Dont make the same mistake i did.. i lost my piggie due to this :(
if your male guinea pig does not move, eat or drink, Rush them to a vet! Please.
If you have a male guinea pig around 2 - 3
also, keep checking his butt till hes 4 years!
dont make the same mistake i did. I hope this helps. bye
I love my guiena pigs
I found this video super helpful and am considering getting them! I was wondering what the verdict is on "unsocialized" guinea pigs, someone at my local pet shop said one of her guinea pigs just doesn't get along with others and must be kept alone- any thoughts, ideas, or maybe there are ways to 'socialize' them?
Hello LuCinda how are you doing today
I watched this on October and I got guinea pigs on April 2021
Im trying to find my guinnea pig a new home where she will be treated well but i dont know where to start. Does anyone on here have advice?
Hi Cheyenne, the best thing to do is to contact a rescue centre in your area. Avoid advertising on Facebook, gumtree etc as you piggy may well get into the wrong hands. I hope that helps x
a little last but look in the ole phone book or ask a pet store where what GUINEA PIG breeders they get theres from i am sure they will know someone who will take em
I’m getting one next weekend
i am planning on getting one, and i am planning to take my pig on trips and vacations
Same but my dad saide he will buy me one if my mom agrees because they divorced so im trying to asked my mom can i get on i hope she says yes shes very strict so idk
i wouldn't scare the think to death
thank you🥰 it's so very helpful
