  • With the summer solstice approaching, it was time for my next solo bikepacking overnighter. Despite feeling stressed about taking time off with our upcoming summer-long departure and being behind packing, I decided to go for it. I added a little twist to the adventure this time, but it didn’t bring the experience I was planning for!

    Many thanks Bella for sharing your ups and downs and errors. I’m glad I’m not the only one who struggles to get out there but once you have and done it the reward is worth it. ❤

    You're braver than I. I was a bit jealous of that swim :) Nice adventure and it's often the good memories that stick. Next time maybe a bivy tent/bug bivy is a good compromise to safe on weight and packing volume but still be protected from the elements/bugs? Good filming by the way.

    Thank you Bella. Always a lovely and warm narrative and excellent imagery. This isn’t a failure at all. It makes sound sense to adapt to the circumstances when things change. Nothing is written in stone
    Well done and I look forward to seeing more from you both very soon.

    Hello Belle. For mosquitoes try maybe a jungle formula or Avon skin so soft, it may help for mosquitoes.

    First of of all I’m afraid of how much energy was spent for all the footage, all of those camera set ups, focusing etc. Great job!
    And very, as you said, tranquilizing vibes. I enjoyed, thanks a lot!
    P.S. F**k the rules, tent required, anywhere. At least, hammock with a net.

      Que guay! Me encanta la zona de Cazorla, ¡que la disfrutes mucho! Y si, estoy totalmente sola así que el trabajo es mucho mayor porque tienes que ir yendo y viniendo con el trípode. ¡Pero yo me lo paso muy bien! ☺️

    Pero Belén, ¿a quién se le ocurre dormir en la playa en verano?, jejejeje. Suele estar infestada de mosquitos, y si además, como es mi caso, eres propenso a sus picaduras y no hay viento la cosa se torna en un infierno. Buen vídeo, como siempre. Saludos desde la terreta.

    • @BelleToscan
      @BelleToscan  Месяц назад +2

      Jajaja, ¡pues a mí! Pero contaba con esas posibilidad, solo que no pensé que serían capaces de picarme a través de DOS capas de textil: el pijama de lana y la funda de algodón. ¡Unas fieras! Pero nada, nada. A la siguiente me cojo la red de la tienda de campaña por lo menos.

      Vivaquear en un pico de una montaña bien porque no hay mosquitos, pero en zonas boscosas y de mar... Tienda si o si. Aunque no esté permitido... Ya le explicaré al guardia que por mi seguridad es necesario poner una tienda.

    I don't recall mossies biting through clothing before I came to live in Spain. Here they often bite me through lycra. I guess in the circumstances you encountered it needs to be Deet-all-over to repel the critters! A great video Belén. Thank you.

    • @BelleToscan
      @BelleToscan  Месяц назад

      Yeah… The Tiger mosquitoes came to Spain about a decade ago and they bite through textile very easily! I just thought that a layer of wool and another one of cotton would be enough but… definitely not! It looks like they can only not get through the thick jeans. Quite vicious!

      Thanks a lot! I was feeling very frustrated and kinda alarmed as I didn’t bring my long lights, so I had to cycle only with the phone light and it was super bumpy but.. Eventually I got the hang of it and calmed down. Even enjoyed the peacefullness of night riding.

      Thanks a lot! They looooooove me too! And I was the only thing they could feast on that evening, hahaha. But still, I guess it was naive of me to think I could camp without a tent. I see so many people doing it but there’s so many things that could go wrong”wrong”. I’ve concluded I’d rather bring my tent! 😀

      @@BelleToscan haha 😆 Or sleep next to small fire, the smoke will keep them away. But guess that is not allowed in dry summer season.

    Hey Belle, how are you?
    I've been doing my bikepacking trips for a while now, but I always find myself with a little bout of anxiety before I venture out on the bike. Do you feel the same? How do you deal with such a situation?

    • @BelleToscan
      @BelleToscan  Месяц назад +1

      Hi there! I have exactly the same before I start a trip! And as soon as I'm on the road, it cools down and practically disappears until the evening. It's mostly the uncertainty and excitement, I'd say. The strong change you know is approaching... But I never give it much importance and just allow my rational thinking to direct. =)

    • @BelleToscan
      @BelleToscan  Месяц назад

      I did think about them! But not the fact that they could bite through my pijamas AND liner at the same time. I did think it would be fresher though, so I was also counting on sleeping inside the sleeping bag fully. Honestly, I think that a few hundred meters more inland I would have been fine but… it wasn’t worth setting everything up again to try. The beaches can be deceiving!
