    The best thing about this figure is that his peg can fit any Marvel Legends or ML scale custom headsculpt. Doing so makes for probably the best Comic Apocalypse we will get for a while, at least until import companies take a crack at it.

    I feel like the face is inspired by the box cover of the X Men Legends 2 video game in the 2000s. The guy who sculpted this apocalypse must have use it as his source material.. it was a popular and very fun game.

    You can also pop the torso to increase the range of motion by alot. For his shoulders there is a top hole. If you pop them out and put them there they will sit slightly higher and the arms could get closer to the body. Sounds like a lot of work but its not, its a great figure and has presence. Its worth it.

  • @joehodgson9217
    @joehodgson9217 6 месяцев назад +2

    The head reminds me of Ultimate Apocalypse, which is kind of amusing to me since Diamond used to specialize in the Ultimate universe back in the day. There definitely appears to be a more realistic approach to the sculpt in general, which I personally don't like especially for Apocalypse. He's the sort of ludicrous character that can only come from a comic book and I don't care to imagine how he would look in the real world (the Apocalypse movie should have killed that discussion). I personally am not into the style, but it seems fairly well done so I do think this is one of those releases that can be summed in a review as if you like what you see, go for it, and if not having the figure it hand isn't likely to change your opinion much.

  • @0newingedcrow
    @0newingedcrow 5 месяцев назад

    The Toybiz Apocalypse BAF is definitely an impressive piece and still stands the test of time for a figure made in '05. I just wish they didn't make his torso so wide. Not only do I think it throws off the proportions of the rest of the figure but when I still had one the legs couldn't support the weight of the upper body because the knees kept buckling.

  • @carlosmejiaugalde4370

  • @magicmirror8627
    @magicmirror8627 6 месяцев назад +4

    I agree, not a big fan of his face. If it was like in the initial concept where his nose wasn't so huge and his expression was more angry than annoyed by the fact he forgot his umbrella in a rainy day, then it would be much better. But you can put ML Apocalypse's heads on him with just a hairdryer or hot water and it makes this otherwise great figure much better.

  • @megagrey
    @megagrey 6 месяцев назад +7

    Apocalypse's face here reminds me of how he looked in X-Men Legends II, and DAMN I loved that game, so I was fine with it, and I much prefer Apocalypse with a matte finish over shiny plastic. For me, this figure hit the Goldilocks zone. The Toybiz BAF was way too big, the Hasbro BAF/Retro were too small with lousy colors, this is JUST right.

    • @magicmirror8627
      @magicmirror8627 6 месяцев назад +2

      I disagree about ML BAF being too small. His height is kinda accurate in it when he doesn't use his growing ability. So, actually all 3 versions have fitting height for him, ML is just his default one, Toy Biz is his becoming gigantic power, and MS is something in between.

    When I first saw this figure I was immediately put off by the same problems you pointed out. While the head sculpt is accurate in terms of design, it just doesn’t resemble the classic apocalypse look that I know and love. Also, something about his legs didn’t look right to me. You nailed it when you mentioned his lower legs looking very tubular. That being said, I still think it’s a decent looking figure. Especially when considering what you get in terms of value.

    Shame the tubes aren’t flexible.
    Good size, stand out on a Legends shelf.
    Articulation… isn’t strong suit as expected… just shy of being a statue.
    For a figure, I’d say this is a win.
    I like the mix of blues on it too, metallic and flat, really brings a lot to it.

  • @SUNDO_666
    @SUNDO_666 5 месяцев назад

    It needs to be more muscular and bulkier with a proportional sized head. What makes the figure's body looks small and tiny despite of it's height was because the head was a bit too big, it wasn't proportion with it's body like a nenderoid or funko pop. By making the figure's head to be a bit smaller than it's normal size, the body was going to look bigger.

      You definitely measure every figure with a ruler and with Darwin and that is appreciated. For instance, recently you reviewed the animated series Wolverine and didn’t like it too much. It would have been cool to see the bone-breaker Wolvie and the House of X Wolvie (both of which you’ve reviewed) all standing together. Then, as far as I’m concerned, I wouldn’t really have a desire to watch any other reviewers.

    I only got it because I found it relatively cheap in Amazon: $650 mexican pesos, basically just as much as a Marvel Legends nowadays and it's bigger, has more paint and comes with more stuff, can't say no to that lol.
    Completely agree with the negatives you mention, not too fond of the headsculpt and I wish his muscles looked better.
    He has a very soft sculpt for the muscles like the DC Multiverse figures. Wish he was buffer, too.
    I still like him a lot, can hit better poses than the BaF once you get used to the damn tubes.
    One of my better purchases from last year, not an amazing figure but still great.

I bought him a year ago and had him sent to her place to save me on shipping, and he has been sitting there until I picked him up just this time. honestly, the figure is nice, but I don't know if it nicer than the single release hasbro did on theirs. The interchangeable hands are pretty cool, but articulation is crap on this guy and they made those tubes on his back way too stiff.

    According with the culture nowadays, his face is correct, since he is from a foreigner ethnic, so we can blame the sculptor too be very literal, or real about this guy.. Height is better than ML one, color is also better, not a big fan of pinkish purple version.
