it’s a bummer that they can’t get the artwork that this figure is based off of because it’s owned by capcom artist, bengus but i am happy they managed to make this version of cable
@@averageyoutubecommenter1760 There's no official wave but ill be god damned if they aint sneaking them in. The Retro Iron Man, the pallate swap War Machine w/ the red repulors, the 97 line, and this Cable.
My favorite look is with the big shoulderpads and pouches. The artists went HAM in the 90s when they would draw him. They didnt care if his design made sense, just make him look cool with guns the size of motorcycles.
AC, Ive come to appreciate your reviews for what they are. I find myself cracking up sometimes over some of the critiques. You are funny without trying to be sometimes. You are by far the most critical reviewer, which I like because thats your niche, and separates you from other reviewers. I watch different reviewers for different reasons. Sometimes if I know Im really excited about a fig and Im going to get it regardless, I wont watch your review beforehand (but i will eventually) because I dont want to hear something that might change my mind. But if its a fig Im on the fence about or just generally curious about, Ill come to you because I know you'll tell me everything I need to know, whether I eventually buy it or not. And on the other hand, if you give something a raving positive review, I would probably just buy it, whether I was previously interested or not, because it passed your high standards, which would immediately spark my interest. Cable is always one of my faves, and I preordered this asap and loving it and glad to see you do as well. Thanks and keep up the Michelin 5 Star standards. Its why I keep sitting at your table.😂
It's nice to know that Hasbro has some Marvel VS Capcom fans working for them. When I saw the Modular Iron Man with the Proton cannon I thought that would be a one off. Then I saw the War Machine that was just the Modular armor in different colors from Marvel VS Capcom. Now they give us Cable who is head to tow based on his MVC 2 look. It gives me hope we could one day get a Capcom style Sentinel.
I've seen a customizer swap his right arm out from below the shoulder with a Hercules(retro collection) arm to recreate the artwork on the back , looks pretty good after adding some additional pouches.
Really love the upper part of this figure, like the aesthetic and overall build of Cable, probably my favourite headsculpt of his to date. If they had just done a new lower body, most seems to be retro Hercules, it would've been a knockout! But overall just a really clean looking figure. Happy Father's day Anthony!
I got this for my youngest son and he loves its simplicity while retaining some of Cable's look. I reckon if you love Marvel vs Capcom 2 then this figure is for you as opposed to the comic book version w/ all the Liefeld artistic tropes. Great video!
Im not big on ML much anymore but I grabbed this guy.. I quite like him. If you use the “bare arm” mod he’s even better lol. He fits in with my Mafex Jim Lee X-Men perfectly.
Passed on this guy originally because I have the Revoltech (which is probably the greatest figure I own) but I found him for $50 today bundled with Namor so I had to buy him. Super excited.
I'm rooting for Blackheart, he shouldn't ve difficult to make, Marrow is possible but Shuma Gorath, I don't know how they could make it, could be bigger like in the comics or a small ball with wire tentacles like in MvC
Happy Father's Day Anthony. Thanks for your efforts today on this one. It would appear that ML has designed an appropriate rendition of Cable that reflects the MvC game. It would also seem that the buck has function more-so than most ML's. That boot cut is very apparent with the lack of yellow paint on the calf. Still, I am glad I saw your review on a ML candidate for Top 10 figures of 2024. 9/10 is a definite buy.
Q of the Day: This is not only my favorite look for Cable. It’s the only look that interests me. I’ve never been a big Cable/X-Force fan, and I find most of his other iconic looks to be more military than superhero. The colors are pretty garish on most of those costumes as well. This look is just more aesthetically pleasing to me.
This is one of those weird licensing zonings. This costume 1 to 1 never appeared in the comics. Theres been close depending on the panel and inconsistencies with art, but its really a video game simplification of the art they put on the box. I guess Capcom owns the art this is based on and thatd be a totally different license? Thats been whats plagued games like this for ages, the rights are all scrambled and shared youve gotta get multiple billion dollar companies on the same page.
Well he started dressing this way in the comics in the mid 90s, so MvC was just adapting his current look at the time. I do like this look, but i prefer his more iconic look seen in the 90s cartoon
Personally I like the weird shoulder on top of ball joint for exactly your reasoning of it raising the shoulders higher, more naturally. I like it more than the dislike of having that huge unsightly ball where the armpit should be when the shoulder is raised. That said, they could've smoothed out the ball tumor a bit. Cut away the plastic and make for a more indented look, to simulate an armpit.
I can’t wait to have this Cable in my ranks. Cable is in my top 7 X-Men characters (Wolverine, Magneto, Gladiator, Apocalypse, Sabretooth, Mr Sinister).
So wait, those shoulders have been used before? I really like what they’re trying to go for with them and I hope they continue improving with things like this. I feel doing shoulders like this make raising arms a bit more natural and don’t have that huge awkward gap between the arms and the neck when raising the arms. I was really surprised with them and, again, I hope has to keeps finding new ways to improve their figures! (I know, I know, 1 step forward, 5 step backwards for them, but, so long as they do new things like this, I’ll be happy!) really like this figure!! Solid release!! 😊😊👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽
In one of your last videos i mentioned Marvel Legends needs a redesign aesthetic wise. Should the entire line have a homogeneous look to it ie "house style? Or maybe base each "franchise" (Spider-Man related characters, X-Men, Avengers, etc) on a particular style ie Jim Lee for X-Men, McFarlane for Spider-Man, George Perez for Avengers, John Byrne F4, etc...
Been curious to heat your thoughts on this figure. I like it alot. Could use a couple more hands and better guns but overall I like the figure. To answer question of the day I like you love this design due to MvC2.
Glad you enjoyed this figure. I agree with you this version of Cable is my favorite as well since it seems to show his alignment to the X-Men cause (at least back in the '90s) after a long period of being a dubious character.
Marvel Studios definitely tried to rehabilitate his character during X-Men 97'. He was wearing a costume very similar to this one by the end of the season....I think.
Wouldnt take much to give this guy the bare arm tbh, just swap it out with Hercules or Thors arm since theyre the same mold. Im debating doing it to match his xmen 97 look more cloesly.
Great review and i love this marvel vs capcom look, wish i had iron man with the proton cannon, also i just got megaman so the mvc2 roster is slowly being comoleted, the jada street fighters also fit in perfectly
How do you feel about Hasbro skipping the blue paint on the sides of his trunks? I was kinda expecting them to forego it because it's kinda unnecessary (and cost like .002 cents more per fig), but does lean more into the look and -sculpt- that they were going for.
Probably this. MvC2 is a large reason for this but also this suit fits in with the Jim Lee era suits and it makes him look more heroic/less reliant on firearms. With all the gun rounds and shoulder armor it looks like he's always going to war.
i brought one a couple days ago and when i opened it to pose the figure i noticed that mine was missing some paint behind the back of the neck.. 😂 i decided to hold on to it
I agree the figure itself is not revolutionary or particularly special--but it looks great and matches his MvsC look close enough that I'm happier than I expected to be having it.
Lots of good, a few slaps in the face bad stuff too, oye, it's like a tease really ya know. I think my favorite look for Cable is the MU 3.75 fig, second fav would be the toybiz look/this mvc look
Hi Anthony! I've been thinking about removing the arm of mine to add a skin color to it. Would you recommend it? I'm no customizer so idk if removing the arm from the shoulder would be a good idea. Not terrified about the paiting tho
So much of the sculpting here like all the details harness, straps and shape of the hair is almost identical to the MVC2 art it’s nuts it’s too bad they couldn’t use 100% new parts to fix all the issues here like the arm and boots.l
I know what Thor figure you mean. It's not the same arm. Because the armored Thor arm is not double-jointed, while the cable's robot arm is. (Not really a robot arm but a techno-organic virus that consumed his arm. I'm wondering if you will get the shield three-pack. Dum Dum is one of my favorites so far. Curious to see your opinion. And if you review the Sharon Carter figure...that will be like a kind of sorta black widow review you didn't get to do. Because you said you couldn't find her. But Sharon is a repaint. So it would be like the same thing, cause I would love to know your thoughts on that female body.
I missed the preorder on this figure and I can't get it for a decent price point!!! I know it fits in with a Marvel vs Capcom display but even then it doesn't seem like that would be enough for it to stock out everywhere, dam you to hell scalpers. Thanks for the review Anthony.
I think I like the style from the picture. As a Liefeld creation, he needs couple of pouches... But i don't like the original design as well... hahaha...

After watching the video comment: I thought you'd hate it more lol. I love blue and yellow suits, it's my favorite color combo, so I was getting it either way lol.
This figure has the same problem as McFarlane’s Hush Superman with small legs and big upper body. ML still does it better, cuz thighs look thicker from the front.
I wonder why hasbro does such a bad articulation on their marvel legends figures which, I believe, are their main selling action figures and on their other properties like dungeons & dragons for example, they do wonderful articulation.. I have 2 of their drizzt do'urden action figures and their articulation is leagues ahead of these marvel legends figures... both of the iterations of drizzt move wondefully...
also dungeons and dragons wouldnt sell anything with bad details. this is marvel so tons of casual fans buy these for kids or for simple shelf decor (me included, dont care if they can do complex poses). this looks fine if i cared about cable but he is like my 200th favorite marvel character so pass
Why? Pinless joints offer almost no benefit and introduce all kinds of problems. Unless you're doing them the way shf are, it's not a good trade off. Worry about things like painted boots and bad sculpts. This things make a way bigger difference.
