Cartoon sketches don't translate well into live action. The design is sensible for manufacturing the prop in way that's it's wearable without compromising user mobility. Of course it was let down by his rather human size presence than Thanos level intimidation.
I always thought it was weird how both humans and many mutants would refer to mutants as a different species. It's not. It's still homo sapiens. The only thing that would make them different species is if humans and mutants could not reproduce, or at least if they couldn't produce fertile offspring. Anything else still falls within the same species. They also claim that the only thing that differentiates them is that mutants have the X gene. Sorry, but one gene doesn't matter.

I believe the main reason why Apocalypse ever loses is because of the 'plot': he's based on earth so he has to lose or all our characters are dead. While other overly powerful characters get to destroy planets that nobody cares about and therefore showing their immense strength, Apocalypse doesn't get that luxury which makes him look weaker.
Also, probably because of his arrogance. Because he's so powerful, he believes nobody can ultimately defeat him. That allows people to exploit his very *slight* weaknesses. It's like Palpatine in Star Wars, where because he could see almost any move anyone could make against him, the one thing that could take him down slipped past his foresight: Luke turning Vader against him. We saw this in the animated series, where he has Cable at gunpoint, and instead of killing him there, he turns to ignore him. Believe he doesn't believe Cable can a pose a *genuine* threat to him. Obviously it turned out he was wrong; Cable was a threat, and he gathered too many allies for Apocalypse to combat. Although I do think it was cool of the animated show to show that Apocalypse had actually won in the future; he'd taken over huge parts of territory, and Cable was having to wage all out war against him. He outlived all his old enemies in the X-Men.

I do wonder what Apocalypse has planned in the new revival show. Apparently Disney was so impressed they already ordered a season 2, without season 1 having premiered yet! It's the same writers, so it should still have the same quality. When we last left him, he'd been 'killed' and banished to the Astral Plane, but managed to come back by tricking Magneto's former lackey (good riddance, Fabian Cortez sucks). But with him having a very different role in today's X-Men comics, I wonder if he'll change to more of an antagonist, than outright villain? He already tried to destroy the universe and failed, so he probably won't be satisfied with just ruling the Earth again. He has to find something different to go after.

Honestly Apocalypse has gotten the best rework / reboot of any Villain in marvel Post House Of X - Swords Of X. Seeing him not necessarily leave his role of " Villain " but being and Ally to the X Men and Krakoa. Having him sit down at a Table with Xavier, Jean, Scott, Magneto, Storm, Exodus, Mr. sinister, Emma Frost, Mystique and Shaw. And Giving us this organically softer side of his Character with the Introduction of His Wife and his multiple generations of Omega Level descendants. And the Entire Culture of Arraki Mutants. His new backstory reinforces his Darwinism ideology with more purpose and plot and less generic copy and paste villainy. It was interesting seeing how capable of a leader he could be in a political sense and how much wisdom and resources he had to provide the X Men as an Ally.
Agreed! I love that they took Apocalypse during the Krakoan era and gave him a back story that is befitting of such a long-time character. I've always been a fan of Cable and the AoE universe, so seeing "A" become fleshed out and sympathetic was pretty cool. I remember watching X Men in the 90's and it was one of my favorite series, if not the most favorite of all at that time. It may not be that they have known how to use villains like Magneto, Stryker, Sebastian Shaw, Sentinels in live action versions, but with two of the MOST powerful villains of the X Men they have made garbage. I remember that I had recorded all the complete episodes of the series on VHS and I even made my own movie combining all the episodes of the Phoenix Saga up to Dark Phoenix in a single video and I put together another one with all the Apocalypse episodes of all the seasons and they fit me some "movies" much better than what they have done lately in Live Action

He's toooooo overpowered. Although there's plenty of messy stuff in Apocalypse movie, I love how they made him more grounded. But now I really want to see the canon one
Apocalypse is the ONLY villian that can 1v1 Thanos. Thanos knows he needs power ups like the infinity stones becuz Apocalypse can just weaponize his body to fight, team Apocalypse!!
He should be on the short list for "the big bad" of the McU now that they have the rights. Of all the potential villains, Kang was a ridiculous choice.
Kang also got his ass kicked by Apocalypse, if I remember right. I think they're probably saving the really big stories for Doctor Doom, which poses an interesting issue. We know Doom has an actual good reason for what he does, besides just wanting power. He also considers himself a worthy ruler of his country. It might be interesting to have two villainous 'kings', one human, the other mutant, dueling over the fate of humanity and the world, while all the heroes are caught in the middle. Instead of doing one 'big bad', do two morally complex bad guys that actually have great reasons for what they do. And maybe if the heroes take them down completely, it would be the worst possible outcome for Earth. I don't know if Marvel is capable of it, but I think that would be a good route for them.
The only problem with that is the work Marvel would have to put in to rehabilitate him from that awful X-men movie but I agree he definitely should be the big bad at some point
@Chris Segee if they were as patient (BIG IF, recent $ failures probably have them desperate) as they were with Thanos, they'd have 6-8 years of slowly building him up.
Say what you want about the movie but Apocalypse was a powerhouse nonetheless. This guy fought all the Xmen to a standstill and if it wasn’t for Jean Grey victory would have been extremely unlikely. His mutant abilities were truly omega. He could transmute matter, enhance the abilities of others, teleport across vast distances, use xavier’s telepathy as his own biological cerebro to contact every mind on the planet. He also possessed technopathy, rapid healing, force field generation. It wasn’t one of his best roles but I liked Oscar Isaac’s portrayal of the legendary villain. He was conveyed as an Apex predator who never had to evolve, an archaic mutant with a god complex. The character lacked depth but he kicked Xavier’s ass along with the rest of the team. A true final boss for sure.
@@starfox8006 He didn’t look stupid. They wanted to make him as real as possible. Avoiding CGI or motion capture. It worked for the story they wanted to tell. Oscar Isaac is a brilliant actor and he successfully brought the character to life. Regardless how he looked, he was a powerhouse nonetheless.
I’ll never forget how in the comics when Stryfe delivered such a beat down to Apocalypse. Apocalypse was bleeding and getting knocked around and couldn’t land one hit on Stryfe. It was very impressive. Great comic. Stryfe is basically Cable’s “twin”. Long story. But anyways, I enjoyed this video. I gave a Like 👍
Writers basically have to make him forget about his abilities so that he can be defeated. One thing I would really like to see happen is for him to take up the gem of cyttorak, and become Apocalypse Juggernaut
I doubt that. Cyttorak is a jealous and spiteful demon who wants full loyalty from his avatars. He would absolutely reject Apocalypse for his connection to the same celestials which are the reason he needs an avatar on Earth instead of being on Earth himself anymore.
I thought the apocalypse story in the comic books in X-men during the late 80s was awesome , I also really dug mr sinister - the comic books were amazing then : not to slam them now, I haven’t read them so I don’t know if they are good or not
Apocalypse is my favorite X-Men villain, but i HATED his movie portrayal. His portrayal in the 90s cartoon was the best. "I am as far beyond mutants as they are beyond you! I am eternal!"
My favorite villain, with his "sidekick" Mr. Sinister❤ 'em! This was a really amazing video. Hopefully MARVEL will make good on him when they finally get to the X-MEN.
Apocalypse, Thanos, Magneto and Dr. Doom all need their respective origins as video games, where you play as them and make choices that effect outcomes like in Witcher 3.
Yet with all that energy, knowledge, intellect, and power, he still get defeated again and again by the X-men.. Anyway, in the movie his original power was his ability to absorb the power and abilities of other mutants, like Rogue, only permanently at the expense of their death. In the 1990's animated TV series, his longevity was due to his Lazarus chamber. Which is why he would disappear for a time to regenerate.
In the start of movie he is seen to age & very old, and the transfer chamber allows him to switch bodies to a new host body....only this time into a mutant with rapid healing & very slow ageing like Wolverine. I'm not sure about the techno pyramid origins though like is it something Apocalypse creates or another power taken from a mutant who has knowledge to build celestial level tech.
You forgot Apocalypse, like Thanos lives by a code. Social Darwinism, where only the strong has the right to live. He is not necessarily Evil, more of a force of nature. The Dracula blood etc story Arc was butchered and rushed to a head scratching ending that involves Dracula.
I've been saying this for years the 4 top villains should all be in a movie ..... Thanos (Without the Infinity Gauntlet) Apocalypse The dude with the Omega Beams And the creature that destroyed Super Man.... Apocalypse would come out in top every time!!!

Yup hes my favorite Marvel villain he can do so much more and be more 😊
The greatest villain ever written imo.
Could be written better and i agree 👍
He's toooooo overpowered.
Although there's plenty of messy stuff in Apocalypse movie, I love how they made him more grounded.
But now I really want to see the canon one
As well as many others, I would love to see an Apocalypse movie. I mean one that's two and a half hour long that is basicly a biography. Thank you
Apocalypse, Thanos and Ultron would be a excellent team.
Very true but they wouldn’t get along long enough to accomplish much. Their in fighting would be epic though
@@rbname7318 I agree
Great character. My favorite X-Men villain
Pretty sure in the X-Men Apocalypse movie he was related to Ivan Ooze.
Apocalypse is the ONLY villian that can 1v1 Thanos. Thanos knows he needs power ups like the infinity stones becuz Apocalypse can just weaponize his body to fight, team Apocalypse!!
No
He should be on the short list for "the big bad" of the McU now that they have the rights.
@@newdgamer4118 very true they could have very easily built him back now it will be another mess I fear ( if they do it at all)
Oh, yes we should explore the story of Apocalypse in the MCU!
I love your videos keep up the good work
“Apocalypse cannot not exist.” Nuff said
Say what you want about the movie but Apocalypse was a powerhouse nonetheless.
Fox studios made him look soooo stupid
@@starfox8006 really he was talking about him dominating not the design of the character smh
@@frandemarco yeah don't matter, fox still made him look stoooopid.
@@master-of-mind5881 he looked straight up retarded bro. I'm a hardcore comic fan. Nobody wants a 5'5 Apocalypse
APOCALYPSE SINISTER AND STRYFE ROCK, my favorite bad guys🧔🏽♂️👍🏽
I’ll never forget how in the comics when Stryfe delivered such a beat down to Apocalypse. Apocalypse was bleeding and getting knocked around and couldn’t land one hit on Stryfe. It was very impressive. Great comic. Stryfe is basically Cable’s “twin”. Long story. But anyways, I enjoyed this video. I gave a Like 👍
Writers basically have to make him forget about his abilities so that he can be defeated. One thing I would really like to see happen is for him to take up the gem of cyttorak, and become Apocalypse Juggernaut
Yep. Dude can manipulate his cellular structure. Hence, he is, as a character, at the mercy of whatever writers choose to do with him.
I doubt that. Cyttorak is a jealous and spiteful demon who wants full loyalty from his avatars. He would absolutely reject Apocalypse for his connection to the same celestials which are the reason he needs an avatar on Earth instead of being on Earth himself anymore.
@@knightofkorbin888 You should look up the story about Trion Juggernaut.
I thought the apocalypse story in the comic books in X-men during the late 80s was awesome , I also really dug mr sinister - the comic books were amazing then : not to slam them now, I haven’t read them so I don’t know if they are good or not
Current X-men has been pretty great, editorial’s been shitting on Spider-man since One More Day though
Excellent work as always Marvelous Videos
Here’s a Death Battle that I’d Freakin Love to see 👊😎
Apocalypse Vs All For One
"The One Above All"
my fav quote from the uncanny x-men cartoon of all time is "i am as far beyond mutants as mutants are beyond you" -apocalypse
I don't like the way he looks in the movie, his face isn't distorted enough.
Apokolypse could possibly take control of the Sentinels, including Nimrod.
False
With his technopathy i believe it
Apocalypse is my favorite X-Men villain, but i HATED his movie portrayal. His portrayal in the 90s cartoon was the best.
"I am as far beyond mutants as they are beyond you! I am eternal!"
RUclips, I guess I’ll watch this. I mean might as well you been shoving it through my feed the past day lmfao
Mans was Madly Nerfed in the movie 🙁
and looked awful
I would love to se an animated film well written with great art
When I was a kid and Apocalypse would come on the x-men animated show it was scary man, his voice and everything
"I cannot be harmed, I cannot be touched. Watch, as I bring the purity of oblivion...to your world."
The movie Apocolypse has way more feats than the movie Thanos change my mind
My favorite villain, with his "sidekick" Mr. Sinister❤ 'em! This was a really amazing video. Hopefully MARVEL will make good on him when they finally get to the X-MEN.
Apocalypse, Thanos, Magneto and Dr. Doom all need their respective origins as video games, where you play as them and make choices that effect outcomes like in Witcher 3.
The movie missed up his abilities and made him into a mutant with leeches power turned way up
He's basically unbeatable...
he cant die?
@@christianprevost8455 he's immortal..An Ex-ternal which is a group of immortal mutants plus all his other upgrades.
@@munoken oh ok
@@christianprevost8455he cant die for long he has multiple ways to come back
One of the best villains ever!
He definitely deserves his own orgin film 🎥
Apocalypse deserves his own movie as much as Black Adam did.
Where does the artwork come from for these thumbnails. They are AWESOME!
The movie didnt do him justice. As the most powerful mutant on the planet they should have given him at least a 3 part movie saga.
When you first introduced to him in the series it's amazing.
Thanos (Without the Infinity Gauntlet)
Apocalypse
The dude with the Omega Beams
And the creature that destroyed Super Man....
Apocalypse would come out in top every time!!!
I hated how chubby they made Oscar Isaac look, the comic book look should have been used heavily
Marvel tends to make heros and Villains way to powerful
He is the rocks of the eternal shore.
Crash against HIM and be BROKEN!
I laugh every time I see Oscar Isaacs Apocalypse walking around beside kid Storm who’s actually taller! 😂
Human mutant. Glad I cleared that up for you.
He is unbelievable powerful and resourceful
Yeah, but what about Celestial technology? You never mentioned it.
Yes, we really needed more references in here to Celestial technology.
