ASUS is fuelling optimum's OLED addiction
they are making a disposable monitor, not that I'm complaining, if you buy one OLED you should consider changing it every 3-5 years, a good LED monitor could last you 7-10 years from my experience

Why would you want to spend money on a monitor that's slowly burning itself in every second you have something on the screen? Literally every second, the monitor is permanently and irrecoverably damaging itself.
Why OLED has become the 'gold standard' for monitors is beyond me. Why the hell are people buying monitors that are self destructing? OLED is a stupid technology with planned obsolescence and people are buying into it like crazy... I like my tech to last years, if I spend £700+ on a monitor I want it to last 7+ years.

One thing that most reviewers regarding OLED monitors are not mentioning are the VRR flickering that bothers all current OLED monitors. If you use VRR (Gsync/free Sync) and HDR and walking through dark places that have some bright colors in that scene, your image with start to flicker. Current workaround is to deactivate either HDR or VRR completely.
It's vrr tech problem not the panel !!! So we don't mention it is bc it's not related to the panel !
@fireeffect6712 I never said it's the panel. I said OLED monitors. Fact is, it affects most if not all OLED monitors and if people plan to buy one, they should be aware of it.
I agree, I was surprised it's such an issue and no one mentions it. However I read that this new OLED monitor will have anti-flicker 2.0 that's been updated to help more with VRR flicker by clamping down on the refresh rate more. It's a trade off that should be worth it for non competitive gaming. So while he didn't mention it , he did have a reason not to bring it up as a potential problem.
@@alphacompton Yes, anti-flicker is listed as a feature, but still wanna know how effective it is. I heard that some other Asus Monitor received a firmware update to fight the issue, but it made it worse according to some users.
I have the 32pgucdm and noticed the flicker in Cyberpunk 2077. I was surprised after looking it up, how many users are affected by it.
Agreed. I have one of the 480hz 1440 monitors and I have to turn off g sync to avoid this problem. The flicker is pretty bad.

Why I still use black and white monitor from Sweden
The next big leap will be getting brightness high enough to reduce the sample and hold times down low enough that DyAc/BFI is just on by default. Sample and hold displays are at their limit for motion clarity.
BFI causes serious eye strain which you may not even notice (it doesn't "hurt" during usage) until one day you're strolling through the park, and you realize you cannot quite make out what that blurry slogan/advert in the distance says. BFI should always be an option, and also come with a warning about eye strain -- like so many games have in regards to epilepsy (which is a much rarer hazard btw).
Also, in an ideal world tech would evolve in the direction of eliminating sample and hold ghosting WITHOUT resorting to BFI. That way we'd have the cleanest image quality possible.
@@gorofujita5767I am not sensitive to BFI/strobing even down to 90Hz. I use strobing daily for the past year and had no issues.
Also rolling scan emulation on OLEDs is the future (it's wild only like 2 TVs have this!)
Seems the industry is heading towards frame generation as the solution to sample and hold blur instead, and that BFI is destined to remain a relatively niche approach (e.g. some emulators of older systems support it).
@@gorofujita5767 is the eye strain permanent if used daily for years? Ive been using a non-flicker free ips monitor for 11 years now and i just now learned the concept of flicker. And yes i cant see shit more than 1 meter away from me...
@@gorofujita5767 We lived with incandescent bulbs flickering at 120Hz and CRT TVs flickering at 60Hz for decades, and it only really bothered a handful of people. Nowadays people are using VR headsets flickering anywhere from 120Hz down to 75Hz, at even 10% persistence levels, just fine. I think strobing a 500Hz OLED (like we're getting this year) at 50% persistence is not going to cause some eye strain epidemic.
The image quality of your videos is absolutely stunning! I enjoy watching them so much-they're so beautiful that I’m left speechless

As someone who picked up the 32 inch model a few months ago I'm positive I can recommend this, so long as your gaming space isn't crazy bright. OLED may not be able to compete in the brightness department but in the right setup the contrast and definition of the image is mind blowing. 32 inches has been great for me as a more immersive type of gamer, but for most people I bet 27 will be even better.
I feel like the ppi at 27 inch becomes negligible and just isn't much improvement over 1440p. I got the xg27aqdmg as an upgrade from my xb271hu and am happy with it overall. Kind of wish I had gotten the 4k 32 inch but this works for now and I'll just upgrade sooner than the 8 years I kept the other

@@Emosch_zCorrect. This is UHBR20 afaik tho
i'm willing to put money nvidia wont use UBHR20 on their new cards. It has too few benefits and increases costs with no big benefit, especially considering the cable and connector situation (even the RDNA3 workstation card that uses it use miniDP due to the problems with normal DP connector when using UHBR20)
However, it will most likely mean a new dispaly engine so that will be neat.
@@magicari8919 I think NVIDIA is smart enough to put UBHR20 on this. They know people will be pairing 50 series with latest 4K 240 Hz displays.
What's neat about a new display engine? I'm unaware of what that entails.
@@Emosch_z I mean, it's "good" as long as whatever hardware is achieving the max bandwidth for its particular use case. In this case, these devices can make use of the additional headroom of DP80, and they are, so that's good. A 240Hz 1440p monitor using DP2.1 at DP40 is also good, though.
I have the UCDP monitor, which comes after the UCDM. It’s WOLED and has a Matt finish, but I have found nothing to complain about. Maybe it’s technically not as good but unless you have them side-by-side is very hard to distinguish. It also has that dual mode functionality to go from 240 4K to 480 1080P.
Different tech, deferent benefits. If all you use is the 4k mode, the UCDM is better. If you want a competive edge with 480hz the UCDP is the way to go.
Better doesn't mean game breaking, the UCDP's 4k mode still blows any LCD out the window

still not convinced about OLED burn in. Think I'll wait for a 4K 360hz mini led panel or something
Response times will be garbage so no point.
Burn in isn't an issue in 2025.
With current oled tech, it takes an average of 27,000 hours to burn in. On the same image. 24/7. It is feasibly impossible to burn a oled in 2025 unless you try and deliberately turn off all the oled cleaning and repair features.
My monitor I bought in 2019 only has 7629 hours clocked in, and has yet to burn in whatsoever.
You nailed it at 5:05 - The beauty of 4K is literally BECAUSE i's 27inch, not 32. the pixels are literally squashed together hence the image appears crisper. I've beenwaitin for a 27inch 4K OLED for like a year now my time has come haha.
I made the jump from 1440p IPS to 4K OLED at 32'. The difference (for me) was night and day. Def not cheap but this is one of my purchases that I don't regret from last year. I encourage anyone who has the budget to spring for a 4k OLED. I've had mine for almost a year and leave it constantly on static images/text, no burn in whatsoever. Gaming + productivity.
which one you have?
I bought pg32ucdm and is insane, I jumped from 4k 144hz IPS.
You shouldn’t need the new DP 2.1 on the actually graphics card , I have 4090 and it supports 1.4 dp so it’s no sense to buy a monitor with new feature about dp 2.1 when your graphics card doesn’t support
Kinda would love one in 4K but probably 42"

PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO ON THE LG C4 AND HOW A TV COMPARES WITH THIS MONITOR FOR CONTENT WATCHING + GAMING PURPOSES!!!
I still think that LG TVs are superior to OLED Monitors for AAA Story Games with HDR, Dolby Vision etc. And 144Hz is more than enough for anything in 4k.
In my opinion, a true next-gen OLED is going to be a 32 inch QD-OLED monitor with its black level rising with ambient light problem sorted out, and a dual mode resolution at 5K 120Hz and 1440p 480Hz. For some people 4K is said to be a little too soft at 32 inches when it comes to content creation and consumption, and 1080p is said to be a little too soft when it comes to gaming. Having the resolution bumped up to 5K at 32 inches will solve the problem for both of these groups (and obviously there's a lot of overlap as people consume content and game). And since 5K is exactly 4x the resolution of 1440p, the dual mode resolution will be perfectly scaled.
6K (6000x4000) - Let's stick with even numbers, you don't hear 7K or 9K unless you use a Mac Display for some weird reason.
@@avieshek Tbh I would also be okay with the same resolution as Apple's 6K resolution Pro Display XDR (6016 x 3384 resolution) as long as it runs at 120Hz or more at that resolution. At that point it would be 218PPI, and content creators, especially people who deal with a lot of text praise the Pro Display XDR for how sharp it is. Give it a dual mode resolution of 3008 by 1692 at 480Hz as well, and we're set.
I’ll never go back to a 27” after getting a 32” 4K 240Htz QD OLED Panel. Whats nice is that I can push the monitor back away from my face more so not to feel the heat from the panel. Also I think the screen resolution just looks better with the monitor pushed back and it’s got to be better for your eyes too. In the early days 1080P was straining my eyes to where it was giving me headaches.
Finally! I was waiting on 27 inches because the of the better pixel density.

Yep, I was excited until I heard the brightness. I don't want to be limited to using my monitor at night. That nit value is horribly low, and next to my IPS monitor with 450 nits, which is basically twice as bright as that OLED, I would never get used to it. Even at 450 nits, it sometimes feels a little too dim for my taste.
@@07xGH0ST SDR content is mastered at 100 nits, I run my qd-oled at that for SDR. Not sure why you would need any more brightness unless you're gaming in a super bright room. You're used to having an overly bright display.
If you lowered your brightness for a week you'd adjust just fine, and in-turn HDR content will look even punchier.
What about durability and reliability for "mixed usage"? If you work on your PC, or you're in a household and have a "family computer" chances are a monitor like this is going to be utilized pretty extensively and during long hours, both for browsing/working, gaming, watching RUclips "content" and streaming movies. With 3 different people using it, it might mean 12+ hours of mixed usage per day.
I'd like for both reviewers and brands to inform users about the safety of investing serious money in (supposedly high quality) OLEDs like this, especially in the long term.

Multiple videos about OLED burn in done by rtings and other sources. Quick review isn't of course place for such but in a nutshell the burn-in prevention methods are excellent in modern OLEDs.
I use an oled and if im being honest, until they develop a clear type tuner app or change the pixel shape for oleds, I wouldn't want to use it for mixed usage. I still move my oled over and use my IPS display for productivity. some people arent sensitive to the weird edges on oleds due to the lack of cleartype tuner support. but i hate it. i hate how webpages look, i hate how office looks
Its not meant to be used that way, so the question is quickly answered.
The chroma subsampling on fonts can actually be tuned using software like MacType. It lets you change the method used for anti aliasing and other font display settings with options for easing the color fringing to be less noticable, or even make it black and white. Really is a HUGE improvement over ClearType, which is the default font smoothing utility in Windows.
I got a previous gen QD OLED and i stopped noticing the fringing within the first 5 minutes of usage, to me, and quite a few others, its a huge nothing burger, never needed any mods or tuning. I understand that for people who can't unsee it, it can be a dealbreaker though.
@@ZenzDeluxe Well the thing is, Windows' default font smoothing and rendering systems are really bad. It's not that the issue is sort of minor once you get use to it, it's that with better tools it's a non-issue. For folks that record their gameplay or make videos of stuff on Windows, it's nice to not have subsampling as enlarging the video in editin looks a lot cleaner.
I've really gotten used to the 21.9 aspect for a few years, usually found on 34-inch monitors. Use for work, home, games, it is very practical. I ended up standing still at 2.5k (1440p). I hope these technologies reach these guys as well.

42" LG is what I use for my single player games 👏 Idiana Jones looked spectacular. 1440p 240 is absolutely the sweet spot for fps/etc gaming, I couldn't agree more.
you can make the panel glossy really cheap just voids your warrenty and it costs maybe $25 at most
whats the good method!
Great video!
Your name is ali ? 1:10
HIs name is Ali Sayed.
Ali baba
Ali Express
No, he’s Bruce Wayne.
He's clearly Bruce Wayne. The Ali Sayed charade is not necessary
heard your phone go off at 0:11 lol
I’ve been wanting a 4k 240hz 27” OLED since I currently have a FHD 240 hz 24” but was disappointed that there are no 27” 4k models. I’m excited to hear that they are going to start being made now!
Upgrading from 24” FHD (92 PPI) to 27” 1440p (108 ppi) doesn’t feel like much of an upgrade so I think I’m not the only one wanting an OLED 4k 27” gaming monitor since 32” seems just way too big
A bit of this is naturally W-Oled vs QD-Oled. Something like the LG C-series still provides great value in the space. Get a 42", activate integer scaling, then set a smaller window in game to mimic 32" or 27" size.
With each generation released is “ the best OLED monitor I’ve seen so far “ yeah… this is what you said about the previous generation too.”0!0
makes sense though :D
I think that's the point of releasing new, better products.
Well it is until it isn’t, if it wasn’t better why would they make a new one?
Cant wait for dual mode 4k 240hz, 1440p 480hz 27”
1440 doesn’t integer multiply into 4k. You’d need a 5k monitor, 5120x2880
I don't think it will ever be coming
1080p is exactly 1/4 of 4k
That means they can make 4 pixels act like one , but this is not the case with the 1440p .
I have the 32 in. version of this and omg, it is actually beautiful to look at. At first I didn’t think it would be anything too crazy but I was honestly proven wrong. If your budget allows for it I would say go for it.
Oled for your gaming . IPS for your work. It’s that simple
My Ideal would be a 27 inch 5K dual mode monitor.
This is exactly what Ive been waiting for. A 27 inch 4k oled monitor. Ill be picking this up.
consistent optimum upload? holy I'm eating good this week
bought one of the latest 4K 240hz OLED from LG, i reckon any of these new OLED panels from anyone will be awesome. in fact, so good I ditched my 42 inch LG 120hz OLED. the smaller size is ergonomically better at my desk and i find myself having even longer sessions than having a big form factor OLEDs, better DPI and better for my neck.
enjoying my pg32ucdm qd-oled and I can never ever go back to any lesser monitor than this!
I would like to see a 24 inch 1440p Oled display. I really like the 24 inch format and with 1440p it would be really sharp.
Thanks for pointing out issues with monitor lamps (i have the benq one)
6:56 The 5080 would like to have a talk about that Statement. HAHAHAHAHA!
I was just on google looking for this exactly about a week ago. ITS TIME
I got the MPG 32” 321URX QD-OLED
4k during Black Friday for my 5800x3d and Strix 4090. With a PPI 137 under 2 feet viewing distance. It’s beautiful, outstanding detail from what I’m missing and not going back on other panels.
Monitor,PPI,Visual Angle (degrees)
MSI MPG 321URX QD-OLED,137.68,67.38
ASUS PG27UCDM,163.18,58.72
LG UltraGear 27GR95QE-B (1440p OLED, 27”),108.79,58.72
Dell S2421HGF (1080p, 24”),91.79,53.13
just subbed for the 2 second sparking zero gameplay
I loved the go outside or get some help comment haha, very true.
"Finish doesn't matter" is a wild take for a monitor enthusiast to have
Just upgraded to a Samsung 32in 4k 240hz display. Have it half way paid off. The color accuracy is great for design work. My poor 2080 super and 3900x struggles to run games natively so I have to crank it back down to 1440p when gaming.
i think im going back from 4k 32 240Hz to this one, was waiting so long for this
Makes perfect sense that it’s dimmer as the pixel pitch (% of screen space that is actually made up of illuminating pixels) is smaller because the sensing lines can’t be made smaller/thinner.
Just bought the rog strix WOLED, there is no next step for me for a while this panel is so good
The glossy one?
i recently purchased an MSI 271QPX ( 360hz 1440P OLED) and i love it. every friend that has stopped by and used it has the same conclusion: their next monitor will be an OLED.
I’m using Msi MPG QD-OLED 271QRX 2k 360hz right now, it’s really good with all the features like OLED care 2.0, panel protect, heat sink, and etc.
I need this! Once you tasted the sharpness of high dpi, you want to see it again, that said I'm happy of 42 inch 4k LG C2 when it comes to gaming, but for web browsing I miss my previous IPS 2k display at 25 inch ( it was a Dell, targeted for editing )
Every oled I’ve tried I’ve returned and always gone back to my LG C3 42”. I haven’t seen anything that beats that picture quality yet
LG C1 55" for PC monitor with a 4090 here. BFI 120hz, motion clarity is great.
I don't plan to switch until OLEDs reach 1000hz.
@@paQ754090/9800X3D here and even with that 4k 120 is hard to run lol. I thought BFI meant 60 on the LG stuff? Like if you wanted BFI 120 you need 240+ to start with? And BFI means no HDR?
Gonna wait for LG's version to see if it comes with built in speakers.
I'm still running a 4080 on an LG C2 and loving all that glossy blackness. I'm not a young, competitive guy tho. Just a casual. But now that I have had big 4k glossy, I don't ever want to go back.
I've had a QD-OLED 1440p 360Hz monitor for about a week now, some quick take aways:
Have not noticed ANY colour fringing on text (pleasantly surprised by that).
Full screen brightness is legitmately quite disappointing.
HDR gaming looks, there's no other words - fucking incredible.
And I am constantly worried about my Firefox bookmarks burning in.
Nothing like a new product that gives you anxiety using it 👌
Just an idea, You should make a video on the best budget gaming mouses I'd like to see your opinion in today's market...
BTW great & detailed video love the
stuff
4K 240HZ OLED
My dream
Ok now I don't feel as bad about buying a gen 3 for a killer deal a few weeks ago, this seems like a very iterative improvement
