My dad just bought me 2 lews combos for 28 bucks a pice from walmart. They're fantastic. The rod action is comparable to my St Croix and the reel is smooth with a 1:5 ratio. I can't wait to take it out
It would be awesome if you made a video breaking down which reels you used on which rods and why. This video was so great that I’ve started building a Lew’s arsenal of my own. You’re very good at explaining everything. Thank you!
I always tell people to buy the Mach 2 or Mach crush combo in either spinning or casting for a starter setup. The value of those combos are absolutely KILLER. I still use my Mach 2 to this day and it's one of my favorite setups. I run the TP1 rods myself on my Hyper mag and Pro-Ti reels. For the same reason you said. For 100 bucks it's not a heck of a lot to replace and the value is insane. I also love the win grips. All of my reels and rods have it. For me the TP1 rod is the only rod you'll ever need. And cheap enough to be able to buy a few different kinds for your boat and it wont really break the bank. Saving money on the rod allows for a little bit of a bigger budget for the reels. One tip though. Wait for the good sales. Cause around the holidays lews has some KILLER deals. And they always have the free gear mail in rebates with just about all of their stuff from shirts to hats to even a buck knife year round on all lews purchases. Which is just a nice little bonus after spending your hard earned money on a nice setup. It's nice to have that free $100 jacket when you spent good money on their high end reels. Lew's is my go to and it's all i use. I started on the original 40 dollar Lew's mach spinning combo on a TP1 rod and then worked my way up in casters and spinning reels. The better i got at fishing, i upgraded my reels. However I still to this day swear by the TP1 rods. That is the only thing that hasn't changed. That rod caught me my PB and it'll be the rod i continue to buy unless i get a combo that already has a rod and reel setup like my Mach 2 and Crush combos. Lew's has the best value for the money. They look great, feel great, and perform even better.
I have three lews rods, just switched to the baitcaster for my first time and I love them. The mach two, the American hero and the Mach two spinning rod. They are amazing quality haven’t had any trouble with them at all !! I will definitely buy more as I get more experience
Have a bunch of Lews custom speed stick with lews tournament pro reels but also have two bass mojo with lews 179.99 lews reels and love all of them been thinking about going to the next level casting rods but very well happy with my setups only have one TP1 and it’s the perfect crankbait rod and love it with a lews tournament pro reel.
Very nice video! It’s funny I’ve noticed it seems all reel companies that make Rods as well generally their rods aren’t that good. Lews is the exception. Lews makes great reels and they make good rods as well. I’ve switched half my reels over to Lews Rods as well. I also use St Croix Rods but Lews definitely makes the best $100 rod on the market with their TP1 series rod. I also plan on getting a custom speed stick and speed stick light rod too. Very nice video!!
What a great video. I searched for a video on Lew's rods and yours popped up. I'm just getting started on trying my had at fishing. Plenty of ponds, creeks, lakes and bayous here in south Texas. I like the Pflueger President for my reel, and now I'm considering a Lew's rod. Obviously I'm not looking at a high dollar one. I'd like to keep it under $80.00 or so. I'm thinking a split grip Laser SG1 might be a good choice.
Awesome rundown Lou! I went with Lew's last year and I have been buying more of their stuff. I have to say I have been very hapoy so far. I have the crush mach 2 and the American hero. I am looking for a combo in a heavy action for frog and flipping. Great video bro! Always enjoy watching. Have an awesome day!
Another outstanding video man. I picked up 6 new Lews rod/reels in the last 2 months (several of the ones you review). Making the switch, very impressive quality for the price point. I saw your boat buying video, came to my good ol' Kentucky to get her. Nothing like Southern hospitality. I wish I'd known about you when I was stationed @ Walter Reed, would have given you money for gas to go fishing!
Thank you for this awesome comment. For us creators it really means the world when someoen like yourself appreciates what we do. As one vet to another, thank you for your service brother.
I almost didn't recognize you without your camo until the clip with you wearing them. Ya know the one I most recently commented on lol. I'm just getting into using Lew's rods as of late fall and this company makes a smooth casting reel combos. So much so I got my wife a Lew's laser combo it'll be her first time on a bait caster, Wish me luck teaching her this winter into spring I'm hoping she'll be efficient and accurate for the spawn lol
This is a very good video, but I think it’s important to note that IM ratings do not tell the entire story....there are other factors to consider such as the wall thickness of the blank and the type of resin being used in the manufacturing process. Not all IM 7 or IM8 blanks are created equally.
NQS Performance Outdoors My point exactly. How many inquiries does a manufacturer get annually?? Even the above average angler could care less about the wall thickness or what type resin is used to build a rod. How a rod handles for a particular presentation is what they care about.
I've been thinking about becoming a Lew's owner soon. I'm a spinning rod guy, and since you're familiar with lews. I'd like your opinion. I have looked at the new walmart exclusive Lew's Xfinity, the Mach II Pearl Speed Spin combo from Dick's Sporting Goods, and the TP-1 speed stick and BPS exclusive Lew's tournament speed spin. Which of these would you suggest and why? Lews Xfinity combo-$59.99 Lew's Mach II pearl speed spin combo-$129.99 Lew's TP-1 speed stick and tournament speed spin-$199.99
Try the KVD spinning series rods and reels. I use the 7'2" medium with a fast taper. 300 series reel with 10# mono. Excellent for drop shot and topwater. Strong, sensitive, and comfortable rod. Reel is smooth as silk with a reliable drag that stays adjusted and lets a bass run when he should.

What would you think I should use I would like to get a few reels and what kind of lures should I use. I live in Az, please let me know thank you, Don . Keep up the videos they are helping me
In June of 2016, I bought 6 of the Lew's TP1 Speed Sticks all at the same time from Tackle Warehouse in various lengths & actions. Not a single issue or problem with these awesome rods. LOVE 'EM....In fact, I bought 3 more of them for a total of 9 now. I challenge anyone to slap a better rod on the counter top that costs a hundred bucks. And I fish HARD most every week, and sometimes multiple times a week, year round, here on the Stick Marsh in central Florida. Bass of all sizes of course, but I've caught MANY bass ranging from 6 to 12 lbs just in the past 2 years with my Lew's rods AND Lew's reels. To each his own.......but for me........I don't even want to try anything else.........I already have over the years. Lew's man for life right here.
Lew's are okay but I can't tell a difference between the $30 reel or rod compared to their $300 reel or rod. I'll stick with Daiwa and Shimano for my reels and rods. Try the new tatula elite rod or zillion and steez if you want to treat yourself
My favorites are the TP1 BLACK. Then the CUSTOM SPEED STICK. Then the. Customer lite, i live all there rods though There is a few i haven't tried. I have tried all the lower stuff like the hank parker's. The xfinity speed spin combo and the rod on it is great. The crush, and mach there all good. Lew's by far is the best qulity gear to buy $ for $ i pick Lew's. Now if i want a luxury item that is $700 shimano and diawa. But there more of a luxury item. Its kinda like lew's is your camero zl1 and Corvette zr1. Than the shimano and diawa is like bmw. Yes its nice but so is the price. From $60 to $350 lew's is the best. Lew's is all about perfomance . They only care about doing the job the best it can . Plus its mostly designed around bass fishing. That's its roots. That's were they shine there rods and baitcaster reels for bass are outstanding at there price
Need some help man, looking at the LF5 Medium all purpose rod. Need a good medium for shakey heads and finesse casting with around 10lb fluoro. Have had the Custom Speed Stick in a 7'3" MH, 1/4-5/8 but it is a bit strong.
Lews lfs, lews laser mgs are work horses. Just bought 4. Like 70 bucks a piece. Got 4 duckett Silverado rods. So far after catching about 20 fish with those rods I'm happy. I know the reels are legit. But for 100 bucks man you just can't beat those lfs reels. I'm gonna get a couple of the bb1s someday for my cranking rods.
Question about the guides themselves on the Lews rods, How well do the guides hold up to braided line use. Are the as good or stronger compared to ceramic guides? Wondering if it will cut into the guides. Thanks!
Very informative video on Lew’s products. I personally own the BB1 (BB1HZ 6.4:1), BB1 Pro (PS1HSZ 7.1:1) and the Tournament Pro (TP1SH 7.1:1). I mainly fish using hollow-body frogs and soft plastics using a Texas Rig. Out of the 3 reels I have, which would you personally use for Frogs and Texas Rigs and what Lew’s rod or rods would you pair the 3 reels on? Appreciate your input and I realize that it’s a personal preference. 👍😉
I wonder why they don’t make at least one series of rods , that does not have an exposed blank on the handle ,, I have been guiding for twenty years and we put these rods in rod holders on a day to day basis and believe me , I have rods broken off at the exposed handle very often and I really wish they made one rod , that was suitable for this purpose,,, who do I call to complain?
Is the custom lite worth the extra money over the TP1 Black? I'm kind of on a budget. Can you give a comparison of just those 2? I plan on pairing it with a lews tournament pro lfs. Thanks!
With the Lew"s if just depends on the price point. Some of their Low end stuff is real good and some of their high end stuff is amazing. It's the middle ground that seems to be hit or miss.
What I do like about Lews is they use Winn grips on some of their rods and reel handles. Winn grips are so superior to eva and cork grips. Shimano, Daiwa, Abu Garcia and Quantum one day will learn that.
I prefer Lew's original flat paddle style grips myself. So used to them now.......anything else feels "foreign" to my fingers. And I did check out the Wynn Grip handles on their reels. Too each his own I guess.
BassGeek........I've got 3 of each of the following models of Lew's reels: The Pro-G, the Super Duty, and the BB1 Pro. Bought 6 of them 2 years ago, and added 3 more. I've been fishing them hard every week, year round here in Florida on the Stick Marsh mostly, and have caught many giants between 6 and 12 lbs, among bass of all sizes of course. Not a single problem or issue with any of my Lew's reels OR the TP1 Speed Sticks I have them all strapped to. Why is it that I see just as many, and in most cases MORE complaints about other reel brands failing? I've read all the reviews everywhere. One of my out of state fishing buddies travels down here from N.C. to fish with me 2 or 3 times a year.......and he has 4 of their Tournament MB model reels. $139.95 reels. I would call those "mid shelf"........and he hasn't had any problems or issues either. He's had those reels at least 18 months longer than I've had mine. Just sayin'. I used Shimano most of my life, and I've been bass fishing here in Florida ( and Lake Guntersville some in AL ) since 1969. I fish now more than ever. I can honestly say I have never been as pleased about various models of baitcasters.....as I have my Lew's. And I do believe I've caught more bass over 6 lbs, than most other fisherman in the past couple years.....but I am BLESSED to live near such a great fishery.
Hey man great video. I usually only do my fishing from a bank using plastic worms. Should I think about getting one of these? I currently use a zebco rhino tough rod with a Shakespeare spinning reel.
What are your thoughts on these for saltwater applications? I live in the gulf coast and just picked up a mach2 spinning speed stick today for specs, slot reds and flounders.
I really wish they'd make more lenghts and actions in the Hank Parker series,,,,I'd replace all my old rods with them,,,absolutely the best bang for the buck rod available bar none!
So would you recommend a Mach crush for top water, also I have a Mach 2 spinning speed stick what setup do you think that would e best for also what rod/reel combo would you recommend for smaller swim baits? Thanks! Just trying to add more lews poles is all , love fishing topwater, swimbaits and jigs/spinnerbaits/buzzbaits
Dude some Wal-Mart's have all kind of quality fishing rods AND reels. I've bought Quantum KVD cranking rods there. Seen the falcon Jason Christie rods and his lews reels there. Also seen the Halo rods there to.
But some Wal-Mart's like mine in Virginia sucks. They got a huge display of KVD 1.5 square bills, TUNGSTEN weights, rage craws, bugs, menace grubs, 5, 6, 8 xds, red eye shad and his jerk baits. I bought a large amount of that stuff while I could. Sold out and they never restocked it man. Bullshit
What would you go with the black lews combo that won at I Cast last year or the Lews Lfs pro with the custom rod or the hank Parker rod or the Ti speed stick rod what is your opinion on the Lews thanks a bunch want to buy one of these
Man if you got the funds...go hypermag...after that bb1 but those are SLP models....for crankin tournament mb...the custom slp is great for anything...but hypermags are insane
Beyond The Bounds thank you for the response. I appreciate you taking the time to answer and I love your channel. I got hooked with that $40 Lews rod video and been a fan ever since and really opened my eyes to Lews products. I have the Mach crush now but wanted to get another Lews and I think I’m going to get that custom speed spool too lol
Sorry i dont own that but own the mach combos....those i can highly recommend...everything lews makes is quality and their customer service will replace it if need be
Hey man, not sure if you will reply to this but if you or anyone else could tell me how you clean your Winn grips after use and getting it slightly stained or muddy? Thx great vid!
I have a quick question for you. The Hank Parker rod that you picked up from Walmart I know you said in a previous video that you bought it when you got here. Do you mind if I ask you which Walmart did you go to seeing that we have so many around us LOL. Now if you would have said Bass pro I know which one you're talking about since we only have the one. Still have my fingers crossed that they build another one or at least a Cabela's somewhere else in the state. I really enjoy watching your videos. You remind me so much of a younger me. I really wish when I was your age that we had the internet. It was always hard for me to find people that were in the bass fishing as much as myself. My dad and brother in law always fished old school. Whenever they would go out on the boat with me I always had to stop and pick up live bait for the two of them. And they would drive me nuts on the way they attached the hooks to their line. It look like they were hanging a clothesline in the backyard.
It was the wal mart in pittsburg texas, but walmarts across the US should have them even more in stock these days....sure wish i had the internet growing up too access to fishing info is bonanza now! Thank you for watching and commenting -Lou

Question about the guides themselves on the Lews rods, How well do the guides hold up to braided line use. Are the as good or stronger compared to ceramic guides? Wondering if it will cut into the guides. Thanks!
I love those Mach combos. I would use all 3 that you showed as my primary bass rods.
What about the Lew's custom black ?
The American hero
Can u recommend a lews setup for crappie fishing thanks man if u could help
Yes lews has a crappie line but the mach crush medium light would work great too
Just wondering where you buy from
Very informative video on Lew’s products. 👍😉
Can you do a review on the 7' mh tp-1 black speed stick please?. Very helpful video. Thank you
Definitely hope to pick those up!
Thx.. nice information
do a vid entirerly on the mach crush
I considering buying one
Lew's Team Lew's Custom Pro Speed Stick Spinning line up. Love to see on water review of this lineup. Thanks
Loving that Tech hat! Guns up!
thanks bud! Wreck'em!
Do any of the lews rods today have microwave guides?
Surprised the Mach pro isn't in this
Must have forgot it
Is the custom lite worth the extra money over the TP1 Black? I'm kind of on a budget. Can you give a comparison of just those 2? I plan on pairing it with a lews tournament pro lfs. Thanks!
Very informative video ! Love seeing the action on the rods . I bought a tp1 series rod and did a video on that as well . Really love these rods
I just got one lews rod and i love it....
How far ur from Houston?
So which one do you think would be your all-around rod meaning you can throw anything from the spinner bait down to waitlist worm to a waitlisted warm
Easy thats the tp1 series multipurpose
I hate the hook keeper being on the trigger
Can't go wrong with Lews that for sure. Good Reels.
Lews are ok but I prefer Abu Garcia
You should
Great info for someone like me starting in bait casters, what is your over everyday use baitcaster ... and spinning .. thanks
If you're asking the most useful, general spec? Get a 6'6" Medium fast spinning and a 7' Med/Heavy fast baitcaster.
If you could only choose 4, which 4 set ups would you choose? Unfortunately, I can't afford that awesome arsenal
Intersting video idea...tp1 series and speed spool SLP series
What’s your opinion on the lews pro ti rod ? It’s the one purple in color
Meh
What are your thoughts on these for saltwater applications? I live in the gulf coast and just picked up a mach2 spinning speed stick today for specs, slot reds and flounders.
I really wish they'd make more lenghts and actions in the Hank Parker series,,,,I'd replace all my old rods with them,,,absolutely the best bang for the buck rod available bar none!
Terry Weaver tell me about it! Things are legit
Very informative, great info
Thank you hope it helps you with your purchase
BeyondTheBounds can you use a swim bait on it
Are the baitcasters good for big swimbaits?
Yes super duty
Can you give this combo.....
Just dropped a recent vid on them go check that out
Pro TI please
Can't believe the price on the Hank Parker Series at Wal-Mart! Great rods , even greater price, about 40 clams!!
Please explain the difference or advantage of microwave guides. I've never heard of microwave guide.

I need our opinion: Lews custom speed spool vs. Lews Mach crush
One or the other? Or get both?
Haha well get both and send one back!...but seriously and i really mean this you cant go wrong with either...i really like my mach crush
No problem bud any questions lemme know...40 dollar rod got me too!0
I’m thinking about buying the American hero camo combo for 70 dls and I’ll like to know what do you think about it ?
Sorry i dont own that but own the mach combos....those i can highly recommend...everything lews makes is quality and their customer service will replace it if need be
What line and what type of application you use them for
Where does the TP1 BLACK rod stand in this lineup? Is it lighter and more sensitive than the white TP1?
It is both lighter and more sensitive
Wow, thanks for the quick response! Earned a new sub!! Thanks!
Hey man, not sure if you will reply to this but if you or anyone else could tell me how you clean your Winn grips after use and getting it slightly stained or muddy? Thx great vid!
Winn recommends water or small amount of alcohol. Dont over do it on the alcohol or yoh will loose the tacky feeling
And how much bait gramm is the speed for?
Lew’s TP1x rod new for 2021
I have a quick question for you.
And the Bank Parker is only 40 bucks all day every day!!! Yes,40$ and you can order it at Wal-Mart online!Good looking rod also!
Can you give me some input on the Lews TP1 black.
Its excellent is all i got at the moment
What i can say is i like it more than the tp1 series...i think it has more sensitivity....its very light and i have a hvy flipping stick
Hey I was wondering if you could share your thoughts on the Lews Mach Pro (if you have heard of it) I am looking to buy one and was hoping to get your opinion on it
I haven't tried that one. The mach series overall are really good reels. I've tried a large quantity of reels and have never been let down by a lews product.
@@BeyondTheBoundsOutdoors oh ok thank you. (I agree about the whole never been let down thing)
@@BeyondTheBoundsOutdoors hey me again, I ended up buying the lews carbon fire. I haven’t seen many reviews so I was wondering if you could try and share a little bit about this one if you have another one of these
Which do you feel is lighter? Custom lite or custom pro?
I would say the Custom Lite since it’s 85 million where the Custom Pro is 60 million.
What lews rod do you recommend for whopper ploppers? Is the tp1 topwater rod to light for these?
Multipurpose rod...will do more than just top water
Is the crush a good rod
Very good rod and combo
Is the Mach Crush combo rod similar or the same as the TP-1 speed stick with a different color scheme? Thanks.
Same blank different color schemes...more models in the tp1 series
