I cured my brain fog. Here is what i did. First, I lost weight (110 lbs). Second, i became active (walking, weights). Third, i flipped my diet from S.A.D. to a mild keto. I changed my environment from a constant stressful one, to a mostly stress free one (changed jobs). All of this led to better sleep and emotional control. To refine the changes, i cut out added sugars and caffeine. Of all this, i think, me for, its about blood sugar control and good sleep. Good luck to you all!

You are a blessing- I’ve been dealing with the loss of my husband , who passed nearly 8 years ago. After 50 years together, he was my best friend and my lover - father of our 5 living now adult children. I believe I was trying to go through the motions of “ moving on” with my life and it is recently collapsing around me. I’ve been to grief counseling, bereavement groups, and SSRI’s - I am a retired RN and I just said enough- I tapered of the med slowly- my MD said I could just stop- I said NO. I knew that was not a viable strategy. I have all the “symptoms “ you so clearly describe and will discuss a possible sleep study with my primary next month. I also say that I have no trouble sleeping- I fall right to sleep without any pharmaceutical help and without ETOH. But my focus has become increasingly absent and my memory vague. Thank you so much for your clear and useful words and advice.

Thank you for a wonderful lecture, Dr. Sullivan. I’ve had fibromyalgia for 30+ years. My brain fog has been going on many, many years as well. I was recently downgraded from Alzheimer’s to Mild Cognitive Impairment (an umbrella term I don’t know what to do with). I asked my primary doctor, if my fibromyalgia or sleep apnea could be causing my brain fog. She said there were too many causes of brain fog to know. So your lecture was extremely timely and educational for me. Thank you so very much!

I stumbled across your information (while up at 12:30 am) & found it very fascinating as well as informative. As an RN who is now a senior, I’ve been experiencing this fog & fearing it was the start of dementia. This gives me some guidelines to begin working with: diet, increase exercise, & planning to retire so that I can re-develop a healthy sleep routine. I’m currently on-call for an 80-hr week every other week to go see patients in their residences. I tend to fall asleep when I sit in something somewhat comfortable when I’m not working or driving.
Looking forward to hearing more from you. Thank you!

I am suffering this. On top of having ADHD, I believe I have long COVID, because I haven't felt *this* debilitating brain fog prior, and I was good at managing my ADHD. I am constantly dragging my feet, losing the will to do ANYTHING, and gaining weight as a result, which is leading me to feel depressed. Forcing myself to do anything makes my body protest in response, screaming at me to go lay back down because I just don't have the energy, but things have to get done, being a mom never stops. I need help, but I can't afford insurance.

Everything you said about trauma resonated with me. I figured emotional trauma was the cause of my brain fog and I have experienced it since I was a little kid. I also have a learning disability and was diagnosed with ADHD at 33. At one point the brain fog went away…when I enjoyed my job and felt good at what’s I was doing. Things changed and the environment triggered ptsd so I left. Then I got my current job and it’s also been super triggering for trauma. Brain fog is the worst it’s been in a long time. I am overwhelmed and depressed. I’m pretty useless. Your comment about Benedryl is also interesting. I always had bad allergies as a kid and took Benedryl (in the early 90’s). I also have chronic pain. I’ll just stop there😅Thank you for this info.

Wow, incredible. I get dizzy when I stand and out of breath. My heart races. Had an ekg and echo and nothing came out. My blood pressure is low ranging 89/60- 105/72 etc. I get migraines and had an MRI. It came back with Non specific white matter legions. My primary wasn’t concerned and she said it’s just small vessel ischemia . I’m 52. I found one of your videos on this and it opened my eyes to SV ischemia and I learned so much but imo I’m not a candidate for cardiovascular conditions that gave give me svi: my b/p is low, I don’t smoke, I’m slender, no diabetes, cholesterol only slightly raised past two years I think bc of perimenopause. So perhaps your video here is something for me to research on pubmed.

re: perimenopause. Are you having a heavy periods? That can lead to: dizziness, shortness of breath & tachycardia. If so, ask for a blood test called Serum Ferritin. It’s a better ANEMIA test for women at perimenopause than Hemoglobin.

Hi. Just wanted to say that I am a 51 year old man and have same profile that you mentioned - slightly low BP, non smoker, slightly elevated cholesterol and migraines. I also feel dizzy when I stand up - also when I blow my nose it almost seems like I am going to faint. For the past few weeks I am experiencing brain fog. Was wondering if you have any back problems since I have a multiple slipped disc problem and sometime back read a research paper that suggested that people with slipped disc tend to have impaired blood flow and generally also tend to suffer from headaches and migraines.

Hi thank you . I get iron infusions bc of low ferritin. Perimenopause caused heavy bleeding in me. But I always had iron deficiency anyway growing up. Yes, so true - ty. I always tell women to get a full iron panel especially if they show clinical signs of ID or IDA. So important. It wasn’t until I requested the full panel (ferritin, transferrin ) that they discovered my tank was empty. Supplements would have taken years to replenish the ferritin so they started the infusions. It’s incredible how much my health insurance pays for them 11,000! I get two doses, 7 days apart.

Oh wow, thank you- I’ll keep this in mind. I don’t think I have a disc issue. Sometimes it feels right but it does away.
As an aside, I read mingraineurs have a higher chance of dementia bc migraines caused white matter legions. I had an mri and it showed some legions aka white matter hyper intensities. I do brain exercises all the time bc the prospect of that scares me. I know we can’t prevent it and all but I just make myself feel better. I hope you feel better and thank you for replying and letting me know about that ☮️

I've had brain fog/memory issues since Chemo in 2017. I was on a hormone blocker letrozole for 5 years after that. I had an inpatient sleep study last year and was only told I didn't have sleep apnea. The report made it seem like I didn't have REM sleep but that was just a snapshot in time. I have had 2 neuropsychological tests and diagnosed with MCI. I have been taken off numerous medications including statin, gabapentin and amitriptylline. I was supposed to have an MRI/MRA and the machine broke when I was in it. I rescheduled and tested positive for Covid on the day of the test. This was just a few days ago so now wonder what neuro/memories issues will result from that. I had the APOE and had 3/4. I'm 66 so don't know how much is just to be expected at this age. I also found out in May that I had a PFO and had the repair in August and have had some problems with taking the Plavix (extreme tireness and now increased confusion like trying to put a jigsaw puzzle in the upright freezer) I see neurologist in February and assume I will need another neuropsychologial test since it's been almost 2 years Very frustrating!

I’m 35 and I’ve been battling brain fog for seven or eight years give or take, and the only things that helped me were low-FODMAP diet, water enema, sauna and intense upside down crunches. On the other hand one thing I can say for certain is that food somehow makes it worse, but I don’t know which foods. Could you PLEASE give me a direction to move towards as I’m clueless of what is the connection between these. I know I have medium anxiety with occasional high alert states, but most of it seems to be connected to the fact that I have low self-esteem while also being unable to “sense” if something is dangerous, and it’s all due to this ungodly fog I’m living under. With low-FODMAP the progress was gradual and took a while, and for some reason I can’t remember I quit doing it and never got back on it, the water enema worked only once, sauna helps only on the extremely rare occasions and with the upside down crunches I first felt something like tremor or flutter in my upper mid set (I want to say left side but can’t clearly recall) stomach, got up and noticed my I could hear my thoughts and my mind was sharp as ever, but due to my disappointment this lasted for only a minute or less and I was back in the rut. I’ve been to numerous healthcare professionals and some specialists but none of them have had any answers despite somewhat broad bloodwork and imaging I’ve undergone.
I implore you please point me to a direction, any direction. I’ve depleted my resources and I’m too tired and bitter from all the disappointments to keep trying to literally guess what might be the underlying cause.

I went to my Dr's for a checkup after having major surgery for stomach surgery when I was 33.
Later 6 years later I had ovarian cancer.
I went to the Dr's for a new check up. I asked my Dr's all good she said to me - it's not good! 3 days later I'm at the specialist at the hospital being checked out by 2 yes - 2 specialist who found absolutely nothing. One can only imagine how this evected me one day I believe I was about to have a third op & this time I would die.
Went to the hospital for clarification. I was so scared - petrified, and more. The specialists examed me. Nothing. I was completely clear. Can you imagine the effect of the trauma for me? One day I believed I was about to die, and 3 days later I'm told there is nothing there.
The only thing 6 months later I am still suffering by being so traumatized.
The Dr? Is On sabbatical leave😢 funny that

Wow its a wonder I function at all, Im pretty sure I have every one of these causes. Explains why its such a complex and difficult thing for me to get treated successfully. I've got a very layered onion to get through before I can think straight again and its extremely hard to do in such an intense, relentless cognitive fog, that no one else can really help you with or understand unless they too have it to the degree you do.I often liken mine to having my head trapped in a mason jar full of cotton or my brain feels like its riding nonstop on a merry go round that gets faster the harder I try to get off, until I eventually just zone out. And that zoning out is my one slight reprieve but I also hate it. Its true though, when my mood is more balanced or Im in high spirits, my brain fog lifts just enough to enjoy myself and my loved ones for a moment, but then lifes demands and disappointments are waiting right around the corner ready to jumble me up bad again and that itself is traumatic everyday. Thankfully there is hope and I know Him, I really just need to stop looking everywhere else. I need to stop fearing the storm around me and look to His outstretched, capable loving arms, that is where I always find rest, joy, peace, security and a clear mind. Its looking any and every where else that causes the fog to fill my mind again and for me to begin sinking back into the lies. Oh me of little faith! Thank You Lord for reminding me of the number 1 cause of all of my issues...my lack of faith, in You Who has Always been faithful! I only forget because I let myself listen to the constant lies all around me and I stop seeking Your truths. So thankful You have etched them on my heart and always call me back to You❤ Im forever saved and forever thankful, hallelujah!!🙏praying that all those with a genuine heart to know You, would call on Your mighty name, Jesus and be saved also! Your sheep know Your voice Oh Lord❤ Amen

That _"perfect storm"_ comment is how I fealt watching this and another video about it that lists what scientist thinks are the causes of it. You go from _"ah, it's that"_ and then _"oh, and that too"_ and so on 😋 The for me seems sollution is to become healthier with both nutrition and physical health. That will help with the Type 2 Diabetes and maybe also, most likely, depression.

It's to the point where when I woke up this morning, I didn't recognize my own apartment for a while. Then when I got settled in, remembered who I am and where, I then got lost on the way to my doc appointment. A place I've been going for years. Got lost for 4 hours, didn't recognize my own home town that I grew up in, and then couldn't remember the adress to my own apartment. For the entire time, my mind was swimming with incoherent noise. I don't remember how I got home but I'm home now. Never got to my appointment, and forgot the number to call. I'm at my last wits. Wtf is this in going through. I would be doing something, suddenly 3 hours are gone and I find myself somewhere else entirely, no memory of in between. And sometimes it's a large jump. From like 7am, until 9pm, ide be blacked out. Waking up doing random tasks over 12 hours later, last thing I remember it was the morning.
