- The final piece of the puzzle in my string of recent upgrades is the Nvidia 4080 Super. I managed to grab a founders edition card at MSRP, which is a lot harder than it sounds! So in this video we take a look and see if it was a worthy upgrade. Can we finally run at 4K 60 consistently? Is DLSS frame generation worth it? Let’s find out!
For all the testing, I’m running at 4K, with TAA anti aliasing with frame generation enabled, using my preferred graphics settings which can be found here: • My Favourite MSFS Grap...

so cool i cant believe you went from a 5600x and 3060 to 4080super and 5800x3d congrats
Great video. I'm considering this combo. I'd love to see another video like this but with multiplayer turned on at a busy airport (20-30 players minimum)
Congrats friend !!
Oh mate really glad to see you did a video on that topic. Still thinking of upgrading my 6900XT to a 4080super. 5800x3d is already there😬
Will watch the video this evening.
Like is done regardless of outcome 😉
Planning on building a PC with a AMD 3D CPU myself, but it's gonna be the 7800x 3D and the RTX 4070 Super. Your FPS looks amazing!
That is so smooth, fantastic. At the end of the day, the smoothness is really what you want - all of the extra fine resolution detail etc is lost when you're concentrating on your approach or are in the cruise, so unless, as you say, you have a ton of cash to spend, your combo looks like a terrific option.
The other thing to keep in mind are the promised performance improvements that are coming, as soon as next month, as MS/Asobo put FS2024 improvements into FS2020. These should incrementally improve performance and give you an even better experience on your system to make your return on investment even better - what's not to like!
I have the 5800X3D and an AMD RX 6800 XT and don't get your new level of smoothness, so I think I'm going to jump to a 4080 Super as well . . . I just have to justify it to the financial controller ;-)
Hahaha, brilliant! Good luck with that! Affiliate links in the description 😉
Same setup as me, nice!
me too!
Same here. Excellent performance 3440x1440!
Great vid! If you were to lock to 60 within the game, it would only render up to 30fps natively with FG making up the other 30, which is terrible for latency. Best to leave it unlocked.
Yes, I figured this out a couple of days ago when my latency was super high! Maybe a VRR TV should be the next purchase
Again, a really good decision.
this is my cpu/gpu combo 😀 do you do vr? i just got a quest 3
Enjoy matey - honestly when I upgraded to my 4000 series card and 7800X3D with FG enabled was an absolute game changer!! Crank all the settings up and never look at FPS again
Thanks for sharing. I have the same CPU as you with RTX 3080 (10GB). Do you think upgrading to the RTX 4080 Super will get better fluidity with 2K monitors with 144hz? Thanks man
what was the performance like in 1440p?
Right now at RTX2080Ti and 3900x Sim is GPU using with ms from 7-12ms and cpu is at 25-30ms (bottleneck?) should I invest in 5900x or in a RTX 4070?
I just purchased the 4080 Super…. Do you think I’ll be able to game at 4K ultra with the fénix above 60fps ? That’s the main reason for the purchase… I have an I712700KF
What settings in MSFS? Default Ultra? What about your Traffic settings?
I’ve got a video linked in the description with my settings. Basically ultra with a few tweaks. No FSLTL in these videos, I only use it for when I’m connected to VatSim for model matching, which in this video, I was not
Since its is main thread limited, I would try lowering terrain LOD to 120-150.(if its 200)
Also i wish you panned around the cockpit, so we could see the actual smoothness, this doesn't tell us much.
Could you make a new video where you show your graphic settings now you have a new GPU and CPU? Keep up the great work
I guess I could, though they’re mostly the same as before, it’s just I get a better frame rate now. You’re not the first to ask though, so maybe I should
@@AirNOTT I have 4080 with i914900k and your game looks so good. So that would be much appriciated. Always making high quality videos, keep it up
Do you think the 16GB VRAM of the 4080 are enough for MSFS or should we go for the 4090?
Seems fine for me so far.
Are you using nvidia frame gen or the AMD mod?
Nvidia frame gen
yay
I use the older TrackIR v4 with MSFS and found it feels smoothest at 60Hz, even if there is headroom. I have the 5800X3d but only a 1070ti for now.
I heard you get massive latency issues using vsync + frame generation, which would be bad for TrackIR.
I'd really like to see you testing 60Hz vsync (or locked) with frame generation, because my goal is also to get constant 60fps.
I'm also considering the 4080 Super or maybe I'll wait for the RTX 5000 series.
I have a Ryzen 7800X3D and an RTX 4070 ti and im pretty sure i have better fps in all those scenarios, the Ryzen 7800X3D is quite a bit better i think.
If you want i'd be happy to do some benchmarks with you if you are down haha.
You won't get more fps. The 4080 super is faster even with a 5800X3D.
@@caribbaviator7058 Well i do and im on high / ultra settings.. the Ryzen 7800X3D is better
@@caribbaviator7058 The ryzen 7800X3d is acually a lot better than the 5800X3D, google it
@@caribbaviator7058 Also just realized he is running 4k and im running 1440p
Using a 3090 and 5600x, 80 FPS at 4K with the DLSS Mod.
Would able to share you settings inside msfs
Check the video description, there's a link to a separate video
Thanks so you dont turn off supersampling as you using 4k
@@quintinwest5002 no, now with the 4080 I don't need DLSS Super Sampling, I do however use Frame Generation which can be used independently of the super sampling. Nice compromise, I find.
What does he show you? it shows that nvidia is deceiving you the frames are low and the map just draws stupid not real numbers
2:56 Stick the 4080 Super in the rubbish bin and buy a RX 7900 XTX
lol nah I’m good
That cpu is way too slow for this card
Maybe I’ll jump on zen 5 when the 3d chips come out
@@AirNOTT but on a second note, it’s tricky as gpu is fully utilized high in the air but the problem is at the airport - then gpu is like 60-70% busy. Msfs is pain in the ass for cpu…
hahah 5800x3d trashcpu. Only i-9 14900k and rtx 4090Ti Overpower
