Very nice job, totally impressive on your ability to work on the engine. Thanks for sharing your knowledge so we can learn more. Have a great week Buddy. BigW:-)
Big W Adventures I feel like the other larger RUclips people have already covered it all, but maybe I say what they have already said a little different. Hope you’re doing well, enjoy your day!
CT this was a unknown engine when he got it a while back. The endplay wasn’t right but he drove it anyway for a while. I got him going again, built up a new short block... video comes out Saturday.
Gary, keep at it man. You are really good at these videos! Thank you for sharing your knowledge - i always learn something. Like the little "shelf" on your engine stand. :) Peace.
I have a engine stand. I've not had any issues mounting a chev 350 or Honda 3.2 Do I need that mount I see in vw repair videos? I have not come across one with my stand engine mount.
Hey David. You should be able to adjust your engine stand to work with the VW engine. Not sure if you’ll have enough clearance with the flywheel on but there’s ways around it. Do what you can with what you have 👍
My Late father who rebuit Volkswagen at 2different Volkswagen dealerships used old cylinder heads as a slidehammer after all the case bolts and oil pump were removed .
I would have to agree with you on that one.... however if you use a good case sealant and make sure the case halves aren’t warped, you won’t have a leaker.
Impressive work...now, if you tell me you can remove a door hinge pin, from a '67 Beetle, while door is on the car, you will be VW Man of the Year!" (No longer need mine done, I found a work around, but I don't think it's physically possible!)
Vintage Speed VW we aren’t using this case, it’s best to death past another thrust cut. We split another case yesterday that is in good shape, we’ll build that one for him..... budget build, almost no money.
Those case spitters that go in oil pump cavity can distort the crank case line bore the Germans that came around to the Volkswagen Dealership s didn't like them i had one.
Nice work. Always enjoy how you use the fast forward when you talk. Make me 😃 every time!
E-man Deluxe I try not to bore people to death lol
Same here... Dont worry. I vote not boring
E-man Deluxe thanks man! Enjoy your weekend!
Ah an oil gremlin... Those can be such a pain!!
Keep up the great work!!
Great video definitely cool to see the culprit some much play. Thanks for sharing
This was an awesome video. I’m about to open up Bruce’s engine. Great reference. I’m going to check out your new video too
Thank you sir! New video is probably similar so hopefully they will help you out.

Nice job brother! =) What caused the issue?

Good Old Mike's Garage thanks brother. Even fighting the flu this weekend we managed to get him back on the road.

Hey that’s a cool idea!
Thanks for the info!!
Hope it helps.
Nice find! I have to say, the guy who designs a vertically split case engine needs to be boiled in the oil that leaks out of that engine...

William Cronin I haven’t done much with door pins as of yet.
Thank you
Thank you for watching. Wishing you a Merry Christmas.
Ouch, but it happens. Check the webs of the case near the main bearing supports. I had one like that that cracked the center main web.

I’m sure it could definitely do that if you cranked on it real hard and left hardware on the case when trying to split the halves.
Nice job but I would pressure wash the case before touching that thing. Just sayin.
In hind sight you’re right. Lessons learned for sure.
That case splitter tool was the key. www.amazon.com/dp/B003KKMCV2 Thanks!
You’ll definitely mess up the sealing edges of the case without it! 👍
Yes sir!
