Yeah I recall when Fripp was such a a recluse! I went to see him in the League Of Crafty Guitarists and he never showed himself on stage! He played along behind the curtain.
I, too, was shocked. I think, though, since he and Toyah have been doing their RUclips channel, he's comfortable in this venue. Every time I've seen Crimson, he is off to the side of the stage out of the lights.
I know, right?!? This is so shocking. And they haven’t even yet reacted to any King Crimson before this. I hope they do more with and without Toya and Robert.
To get Fripp's blessing to react to a K.C. video is like pulling teeth. Then, to get him to appear in the reaction video is unheard of. I'm flabbergasted.
OMG! You scored Robert Fripp! King Crimson is one of the foundational prog bands. In fact, "In the Court of the Crimson King" 1969 is said to be the first prog album. Try "Epitaph" or "In the Court of the Crimson King" two of my favorite KC songs. Note King Crimson's line up changed very frequently. Robert Fripp is the constant.

See Rick Beato interview with the current band. Thanks Master Fripp for enriching my lifelong musical experience. I go back to the Court of the Crimson King days when i was just learning guitar. This is absolutely AMAZING!!!!! Discipline was an earthshaking album! Notice how Adrian and Robert's guitars are playing in different time signatures, but they come back in sync at just the right time. Also, notice how Bill rarely, if ever plays his cymbals! And Tony is a complete BEAST on The Chapman Stick, holding down the low end! This is such an incredible album, and it's extremely rare for anyone to be able to review any KC song, so congratulations to Rob Squad Reactins!

My first exposure to King Crimson's music was in the 80's when this album had recently come out. I had never heard anything like it before and i was hooked. Every member of this band is genius level on their instrument.
What a great experience to interview these two! I knew y'all would love King Crimson's 1981 "Discipline" album. This was a huge album that year. The big radio single off it was called "Elephant Talk." When Fripp met Jimi Hendrix in the late 1960s, King Crimson's sound was very different, more familiar-sounding, early seventies-style prog rock. Their earliest and biggest hits were from this period, particularly "The Court of the Crimson King" from 1969, which was played a lot on rock radio stations in the early seventies.
You two may not even realise how big of a score you just achieved right there getting these two to guest on your channel - says a lot about their humility too. Huge kudos!! 🙌🙌

Glad Robert and Toyah picked Rob Squad for this interview. Unbelievable!!! And, I'm so glad you got to hear this amazing track from one of my favorite albums of all time. If possible, you need to hear the entire album. I discovered King Crimson in the 90s. I listened to the album Lark's Tongues in Aspic and that experience reshaped my way of understanding progressive rock. I already knew Yes, ELP, Pink Floyd, Rush and some other bands, but King Crimson was really something overwhelming. All phases of the band are exceptional, and this moment in the 80s is incredible, because KC manages to adapt to the rock language of that moment without losing the 60s/70s progressive experimentalism. Fripp had already played with Blondie and Talking Heads, but what they proposed in the Discipline/Three of a Perfect Pair/Beat trilogy is much more sophisticated and daring than any other musical proposal of the period. Fripp is a genius and I feel happy to see him still active today in an irreverent way alongside Toyah. Congratulations to the Rob Squad channel for the initiative of inviting this rock legend to this video. I'm brazilian and I suggest you listen to "Linguagem do Alunte" by the band Novos Baianos.
1980's Crimson is currently on tour minus Master Fripp but with his blessing. Steve Vai in his stead. Robert Fripp a true legend. Glad to see him having fun.
@@johncampbell756 I dont know the drummer very well as I dont follow Tool so I guess we'll see. I would surmise if he is playing this music with those musicians that anything is possible.
Well...... I did NOT see THAT coming!!! Bravo guys! King Crimson are pretty bad for blocking reaction videos on RUclips, which I think is ultimately detrimental to their legacy as one of the most compositionally innovative bands of the 20th century, and arguably having some of the most accomplished modern musicians of the the modern era, BUT, hats off to Robert and Toyah for coming on a reaction channel. I've seen King Crimson twice, and it's pretty mind blowing.
My gosh, that was incredible. Rob, you would love the song "Red". Early 70's King Crimson. Bill Bruford on drums, John wetton on bass, and Robert Fripp on guitar.
I've got to add to everyone's amazement that you got Robert Fripp. Go look; not many interviews. Has to be Toyah's influence; Lovely couple. Thanks so much for this. Adrian Belew, (vocals/guitar) is touring this era of King Crimson soon.
2 legends . . The intencity of the playing makes the simplicity of the singing pop . . Thank you both for memorys far beyong you could ever imagine. . . Great to have them on your show . .
Congratulations, you just had 2 musical geniuses on! Robert has been one of my musical heroes since I was a wee lad. Discipline was the second King Crimson album I bought. Keep up the great work. Please react to more King Crimson!
Hi Jay and Amber, I am from a town called Wimborne in Dorset in the south of England, i remember seeing Robert play live in the very days of youth clubs and village halls. Thanks Jay and Amber. Keep Rocking.
This was so awesome 😎 I kept thinking “I can’t believe I’m watching this!” Robert Fripp and Toyah Wilcox are so wonderful! What fun! I will be watching this over and over. Thank you so much for doing this. 😊
Thanks to you guys, I learned something today! I'd never heard of King Crimson or Robert Fripp (or Toyah Willcox) until now, and let me just say that song blew...me...AWAY! That was so amazing! I love me a good guitar and that was out if this world! Thank you Robert and Toyah, and of course Jay and Amber, for giving us this gem of a video!
O my gosh, Jay and Amber, this was amazing to watch! I had no idea, and now I do! I'll check out their channel for sure! Bravo to you both! 👏👏 I enjoyed this reaction! video! ☮️ and 💕
Kudos to have you both for having Toyah Willcox & Robert Fripp on. I was lucky enough to have seen King Crimson four times in the 1970s (in two different groups of musicians) & once in 1980s. Frame By Frame" was performed when I saw them. Toyah, I am familiar with the band "Sunday All Over the World" (consisting of singer Toyah Willcox, her husband, guitarist Robert Fripp, Chapman Stick player Trey Gunn, and drummer Paul Beavis). I love that album. I look forward to you doing Toyah Willcox's piece next.
Absolute fantastic company you guys had. It takes reaction videos to another level when you have the musicians online. And both Robert Fripp and Toyah truely are Legends.
My sincere congratulations for having Robert and Toyah in your reaction to one of King Crimson's emblematic songs in the 80s. Also, I must say that you are both A very brave for daring to react and analyze a Crimson issue in front of Robert Fripp. It should be noted that in Frame by Frame the guitars of Fripp and Belew intertwine and, possibly, there is also some of Tony Levin's Chapman Stick intermingled (the instrument allows to play bass parts with one hand and guitar parts with the other), but the latter cannot be assured without seeing a live version (in which the parts played by Robert Fripp, those played by Belew and those by Tony Levin could be seen). During those years, Gamelan Music (traditional Indonesian music, from Bali and Java) was an important influence on King Crimson and possibly the intertwining of guitars has been worked on as in Gamelan Music (in which instruments of equal tuning are duplicated and some play certain notes that are combined with the different notes played by the others, integrating into a whole in which the parts cannot be distinguished unless you know the way in which the music is structured and you see the performers playing). Another important influence was Minimalist Music (especially Steve Reich) and, as in the minimalism, the notes played by Belew become out of phase with those played by Fripp, but when the cycle is completed they coincide again, generating a very special effect. I congratulate you both again, because what you have achieved is not something minor and I hope it is the starting point for more reactions to King Crimson's music (which would serve to make it more appreciated by the public, even by followers of Progressive Rock, since in the musicians' environment it has always been appreciated since the origins of the band). I send you both a big greeting from Argentina. By the way, these days Robert Fripp is in Argentina, in the province of Mendoza, he performed yesterday and will also be playing on April 21 (unfortunately, I live very far from there). Another important news referring to King Crimson's music in the 80s is that a band called Beat has been formed to play songs from the 3 albums of those years (Discipline, Beat, and Three of a Perfect Pair), It is made up of Adrian Belew, Steve Vay, Tony Levin and Danny Carey (drummer of Tool) and they will be touring the United Kingdom and the USA during 2024 and 2025.
Jordan and Amber, you pulled off a coup. Robert has made a career of staying in the background even when leading a band. Once he toured with Peter Gabriel and played from off stage. He and Toyah are such a sweet couple. I feel she brings out the best of him. Their musical home videos over Covid were so filled with humor and warmth. A totally different side of what I knew of Robert growing up. You absolutely caught him at his warmest.
You guys had the King and Queen on your show!!! How cool that you know of one another, as you are both among my favorites. Be sure to catch their weekend shows as they are always great fun. King Crimson is said to have been the source and inspiration for the prog renaissance that followed and produced the best music of all time. There are more popular musicians and composers, but not more important ones. Blown away. Congratulations!
Hey guys, thanks so much for reacting to Frame by Frame! Robert Fripp has always been my favorite guitarist and it's so nice to see and hear him on your channel. Such a legendary lineup for KK at this time!
Beautiful. The reactions of all 4 participants brought a tear to my eye and the music is still as fresh today as ever! I guess the next logical step might be for the Rob Squad to see Toyah and Robert appear at Glastonbury UK and/or the band Beat, touring in the USA? Love to you all.
Amazing. I feel like two of my little worlds are colliding! I love King Crimson. One of my favourite bands. Their music is so rich and each subsequent listen is rewarded as you notice subtle nuances.
Wow! I can’t believe you scored Toyah and Fripp! Robert Fripp is The Godfather of Progressive Rock or “Prog”. You have such a huge rabbit hole to go down to explore more of his music in all of its different permutations. Especially King Crimson. P.S. I don’t think you have to stop when you have the creator on. It’s kind of weird. We know you have to stop to avoid copyright strikes. But not when you have the artist on. There’s so many incarnations to King Crimson, and they started with Greg Lake (of Emerson, Lake and Palmer fame) as their first lead vocalist and bassist. That album, from 1969, basically is the original prog rock album, is IN THE COURT OF THE CRIMSON KING. And those songs still are iconic and mind-blowing. But all of their albums are. Through the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and even into the 2000’s. They are the very epitome of the term “progressive rock”.
Congrats on a great show with Toyah and Robert. You jumped into the KC catalog about mid stream there is so much before and after this era. Toyah is always a treat - well done.
What a fantastic reaction. Toyah & Robert kept myself and many other people entertained through lockdown with their Sunday service - Legends. I last see Toyah perform a few years back in Hastings in an intimate gig at the much missed St.Mary in the Castle venue.
Wow you hit the jackpot being able to have those 2 legends on your channel. I met Toyah in 2019 when she and many others were doing conventions for the 40th anniversary of the movie Quadrophenia. She’s is amazing. Perhaps add Quadrophenia to your movie reaction list x
What a treat, we got not just 3 but 6 videos today! I don't watch other music reaction channels, but I see some thumbnails in my recommendations. Is this video format, reacting with the artist, something new in reaction land? I like it anyway. It's remarkable that you were able to snare Toyah Wilcox and Robert Fripp!

One of my favorite King Crimson songs! Ask them to do Matte Kudasai with you! And what a score getting Robert and Toyah to join you!!
1980's Crimson is currently on tour minus Master Fripp but with his blessing. Steve Vai in his stead. Robert Fripp a true legend. Glad to see him having fun.
I thought Bill Bruford retired from music. He attended but didn't even play the Yes Hall of Fame induction.
@@johncampbell756 My bad. Danny Carey of Tool is on drums with Belew Vai and Levin.
@@Friend_Of_The_Muse Well, that's a good way to avoid the recent triple drummer configuration.
@@johncampbell756 I dont know the drummer very well as I dont follow Tool so I guess we'll see. I would surmise if he is playing this music with those musicians that anything is possible.
@@Friend_Of_The_Musecheck out the Danny Carey drum playthrough of "Pneuma," he is (to be understated) good at drums
I can't believe you got Robert Fripp to come on. I guess Toyah is truly a miracle worker.
So Cool! Toyah and Robert!! I was lucky to see a couple of versions of King Crimson over the years and they were amazing everytime.
Bill Bruford is one of the best drummers. He was in Yes before joining King Crimson.
Wow! Never thought Fripp would appear like this. King Crimson has 50 + years of material.
I cannot believe you guys made this happen. I have watched so many of their Sunday videos. Had no idea they were on your radar! Awesome!
Wow! What a fanastic coup getting those two on your channel! Thank you!
Hi Jay and Amber, I am from a town called Wimborne in Dorset in the south of
England, i remember seeing Robert play live in the very days of youth clubs and village halls.
Thanks Jay and Amber.
Keep Rocking.
OMG!!!! lol right it's just started! but WOW you've got Toyah on live!!!! lolololol AWESOME
This was so awesome 😎 I kept thinking “I can’t believe I’m watching this!” Robert Fripp and Toyah Wilcox are so wonderful! What fun! I will be watching this over and over. Thank you so much for doing this. 😊
OMG! I can’t believe the real singers are on your monitor, so cool you guy’s! 👏👏👏♥️♥️
WOW....this is amazing get guys....gratz!!!! I had to come back with and edit and just say WOW again...:)
Discipline is one of my favorite albums, and Fripptronics is the best. Adrian Belew is amazing as well, He had done some awesome solo stuff too.
The first one, that's awesome. Guitarist Robert Fripp from King Crimson, wow! Let's keep going!
Mr Fripp is just one of the best guitarist
His progressive playing and sound is legendary
Very cool stuff guys Thanks for this
Thanks to you guys, I learned something today!
It’s an ocean of sound.
If you heard David Bowie’s Heroes you’ve heard Fripp playing :-)
O my gosh, Jay and Amber, this was amazing to watch! I had no idea, and now I do! I'll check out their channel for sure! Bravo to you both! 👏👏 I enjoyed this reaction! video! ☮️ and 💕
Damn Robert Fripp?? That’s awesome!
That Hendrix anecdote is perfectly beautiful.
Oh wow that's amazing you got to hang out with Robert and Toyah! Respect! Big fan of both! (and your channel!)
Facts. I like to see him having fun. Their channel is a trip.
Bro how tf did you get Fripp on here 🤯 godlike song, band, guitarist, you killed it with this one
Wow, I never thought I'd see this. Cool reaction. I just ordered the discipline album again. King Crimson are legends! Continue to explore their work!
Fripp is a LEGEND! Wish I could shake his left hand.
I get that reference.
Do you guys have any idea how huge landing this is?
Fantastic! *Discipline* was such a turn, and such a stunning one.
This is an absolute premium. You did it. King Crimson on RUclips. We had to wait years. Great
What a treat, we got not just 3 but 6 videos today! I don't watch other music reaction channels, but I see some thumbnails in my recommendations. Is this video format, reacting with the artist, something new in reaction land? I like it anyway. It's remarkable that you were able to snare Toyah Wilcox and Robert Fripp!
I don't know if you realize what a giant in the music field you just had on! Good for you!
How the heck did you guys score this? My gosh. I'm proud of you! What a great interview for your channel! Thanks so much for sharing
That's so cool!!! You guys are amazing for getting these ppl on your channel! Keep doing more amazing stuff like this 😀
I’m not sure I can even describe what it is you do, but you’re knocking it out of the park. Passing on fantastic music to friends is amazing; to see it done in this way is beyond cool. Cheers to you all🤘
watching Robert Fripp *enjoy* his music gives me more joy than I can put in words
As Jay was so fond of saying back in the day....I am SHOOK!!!!!!!!!
On of my favorite albums, saw the tour and can not believe Robert Fripp is connecting
Amazing job rob squad
OMG!! You guys are getting some amazing guests! 👏
Bravissimo!
Late to this. You got a holy grail interview. You have made some people notice you. Robert and King Crimson are master musicians. Frame by Frame is a good choice.
Love the Sunday posts Robert and Toyah both. An awesome couple.
