"Never marry a Portland girl, let me tell you why. She blows her nose in the ol' corn bread and calls it pumpkin pie."
Ha, did you make that verse up? This song is wild because for the most part everyone plays it about the same but damn near everyone sings different lyrics. I am fond of the version where Old Joe Clark is like a mega-jerk, played by Leeroy Troy and Aaron Stephens. I am going to work this verse into the version I sing. Something like, "Ol' Joe Clark ain't a friend of mine, let me tell you why. Blew his nose in my corn bread and called it pumpkin pie."
Also man I picked up the chord trick early on while playing through your ukulele book but it has proven one of my most useful habits. Fretting the whole chord works great while learning a melody and ensures there aren't stray notes hanging about while you're sloppin', but more importantly it affords an opportunity to spice things up with brushes and drop-thumbing.
