So clear! I never thought about where the ball bounces off my side of the table determines where it lands...though in my attempts to serve short if I was not careful I hit the net often, so intuitively I tried to get closer to the net to achieve shorter serves. Awesome to know what’s really going on!
One of my favourite item in my daily service sessions! My short serves are near the net, half-longs bounce at least twice the second bounce being tantalizingly on the edge and the long ones of course the same as Craig has shown.
I had one of those moments where I learned I know nothing about serving. Thinking about where the ball hits on my side of the net was mind blowing. I’m gonna experiment with this a ton
I just started playing but I love using the really short one that drops close to the net too. It's just tough to get it to go over the net without touching it sometimes.
It depends on the spin. If long fast, with backspin or side-backspin, you could either push or loop. If long and fast with topspin or side-topspin, you could block or drive/topspin. I'll try and make a video about this at some point.
Coach good day, i am an intermediate player, i ask your advise what the best racket i need to use, the right tension of rubber i need to use in FH and BH i am an offensive player using forehand as my advantage.
Serve as you would for a short backspin serve, contact me at the back of the ball, have first bounce close to the end of the table your side and increase the power behind the serve mate
When you are serving long, make sure you contact the ball when it drops just below the net so this way your first bounce will be closer to you .. just be wary about the amount of power you generate on your blade
Yes, you can still become very good at table tennis. It's probably too late to reach a pro level, but you can still have plenty of time to be one of the best players in your club, town or city.
Hi Tom, where did you buy those rings? Great way to approve the quality of the placement. I only found some frisbees and they were quite expensive . Great video! Thanks!
One question, I struggle to keep long serve on opponent FH in straight line. Due to my bat angle it drifts towards the centre of the table. Please help.
Abhinav Raje Try to over exaggerate your aim. If you’re aiming down the line and it goes to the middle, aim off the side of the table and I’m sure you’ll get the ball into the wider position where you want it 👍
Serving is so difficult for me. If I could learn how to serve, I could be a lot better. I have tried everything, but nothing works. I just have the generic, same serve, that I mix up speeds and locations on. It works in doubles, but 1v1, I get killed. Thanks for this video!
There's no magic to becoming a good server - it's all just practice. Every time you play table tennis, do 15 minutes of just serving. Don't just serve randomly, try to reproduce the same serve a few times in a row until you are confident in the spin, placement, and speed. Also, don't be afraid to be creative. Serving is a very personal aspect of one's game and what works for others may not work for you. It's a chance to come up with your own serves that amplify your strengths and help to mask your weaknesses.
So it sounds as though you have a good idea about ball placement when serving. This is good. Your next step is to develop spin variation. Start with backspin and topspin and then add in sidespin with backspin and sidespin with topspin.
@@TomLodziak Thanks Tom. You are right on the money. I have a very difficult time with producing backspin on my serves. I am just not smart enough to get it yet. I will keep watching your vids. and practicing. Thanks a lot. I love your channel.
sean ward At the time of the last video I was just trying out the Joola Fever. The TPE is the blade I’ve used for quite a while now. It’s a little heavier but also quicker than the Fever blade.
Im not really that much of a professional by any means but i think rakza 7 rubber and yasaka sweden classic blade is a really good combo beacouse it gives you a balance of speed spin and control

Craig brayant is good in explaining
Genuinely think the table tennis community on youtube is one of the best on this platform
I am just starting to learn this myself. I tried the fast long serve and really enjoyed it.
Thanks for the way to serve at different lengths:)
Great video as usual. Switch on the subtitles at 06:14 and discover what the ball says...

Yet another good video on serving from the master.
what i really learned from this video is serving long backspin. thx
Great video. Very helpful.
Thanks
Thanks. It will be useful...i am bad at serving fast...i will try that...
Craig can't explain better
Thank you 😊
Hi, I love your training videos. They are great.
Thank u sir your's servs are outstanding

Another great video, thanks Tom and Craig!
Very good

TNX Tom and Craig! В России вас смотрят. Спасибо, что говорите медленно и четко.
Great Craig, thanks so much
Hi Tom am a big follower of your channel. I want to know the defence mechanism of long fast serve
It depends on the spin. If long fast, with backspin or side-backspin, you could either push or loop. If long and fast with topspin or side-topspin, you could block or drive/topspin. I'll try and make a video about this at some point.
Tom Lodziak - Thanks Tom for reply my question. Looking for your video on the same topic.
Another gem
Great video, I'll practice your advice. I like the idea with circle on the table and multi boll. Thanks.
Having markers is useful. I often use masking tape when coaching, to give the player a visual aid as to where to play shots or serve.
Gr8 vid, really helpful, well explained. Thank you.
Needed this
Thanks 😊 for good taktic videos.
Very nice tips. I play good but need some practice. Shall I participate in some championship.? . How can I know my level?
play on a ranked tournament so they can check your ranking
Coach good day, i am an intermediate player, i ask your advise what the best racket i need to use, the right tension of rubber i need to use in FH and BH i am an offensive player using forehand as my advantage.
I have some recommendations on my website www.tabletenniscoach.me.uk/best-table-tennis-bats-for-intermediate-players/
Thanks. Where can I buy those circles?
Marleise Rashford
They are juggling rings. I’d go for 40cm ones (these are 30cm). Google ‘juggling rings’ and you find lots of them.
Is there top spin in the long fast serve? Great video by the way...
There is topspin, but not a huge amount. The contact is quite flat through the back of the ball.
When are you going to make the video about playing vs short pimples?
It's on the list. But my list is very long! Ha! Not sure when I will do this. But it will happen eventually.
@@TomLodziak Well then I guess I will have to wait.
Can you explain how to serve a long underspin serve to me?!

Is it possible to start learning advanced table tennis when you are not on an early age ? For instance 18 years old?
Yes, you can still become very good at table tennis. It's probably too late to reach a pro level, but you can still have plenty of time to be one of the best players in your club, town or city.
@@TomLodziak thank you very much for your advice sir !
Hey Tom! Can you or Craig demo the Yoshimura serve?
Hlo sir please make video on how to hold bat and pls tell thumb is necessary to touch the rubber
Mayank Tanwar lmao 😂
All doing of the serve

Hi Frank, they are juggling rings. Have a look on eBay / Amazon, they are very cheap 👍
Which Diameter do they have? thx

Reiner Baltes
They are 30cm but if you can get a larger diameter I would go for that.
Craig Bryant thx!

are you missing those shots on purpose?
No, I'm really that bad.
