Very thorough/clear demonstration to enhance understanding body/wrist/hand motions for each serve effect. However, a lot of peiple don't explore/learn how rubbers/blades (or different combinations of them which is the most intriguing part) can vary ball spin/speed. Equipment plays a very vital part for the game, on top of basic skills/knowledge. Table tennis is a very complicated/serious game (to play properly), vastly different from what people see it as Ping Pong. Now waiting for you to illustrate how to counter your magnificinet seven serves. Picked up some good points here, thanks and congratsl
Excellent in demonstration and simplicity in language. Is it possible in some future video to correlate each of these Services to the top players who have perfected these Services and used them in Tournaments AND what were the opponents returns to counter such Services(in slow motion). Thanks & Regards.
As a medium level player I can do the tomahawk very well, alternating backspin, sidespin, and topspin, but I absolutely can't do the reverse pendulum. That's the most advanced serve. The backhand serve is also actually quite easy, but I find it useless because the spin and control tends to be much more with forehand
Hi. interesting presentation.Thank you, guys. However maybe now there should be a follow up with explanation about produced with each serve spin and how to control intensity of this spin. Maybe a bit more advanced stuff, but it would show the tactical ideas behind each type of the serve.
Great video tutorial, very helpful indeed are the slo mo's. It shows exactly in which height you have to hit the ball and how far from the net (on your side) it should be placed. One remark: Unfortunately (and according to the international rules), the left arm is supposed to be completely left out in the space between ball and net I think. So the referee might call this as a point against you (after warning). Am I right?
what is that octoganal racket? ive never seen that before. But overall thank you for the amazing serving tips, love the channel, keep up the amazing work.
It's the Stiga Cybershape (I assume carbon) blade. It's just a newer blade that has been out for about 2 years and that has allegedly some benefits due to its different weight distribution created by the shape
The overview is greatly appreciated. However, the serves are illegal. 1. The serves are hidden by either his arm or his body or both. 2. His left hand goes below the table during the serve. 3. The serves are not tossed from the palm of his hand. Again, the information is appreciated. I would just like to see coaches adhering to the rules also. Many times people are so focused on winning. As a result, the rules become secondary which in turn can lead to the breakdown of sportsmanship. Have you ever called out someone on their serves? Man, that can quickly become a heated situation...
Ich bin dabei! Genau nach sowas hab ich gesucht! Die originalen Zahlen von meinem Winmau Blade 5 sind schon gresig! Mir gefallen die Farben irgendwie alle. playing with a cyber bat is like driving a Ferrari through a very poor village. The villagers will smile, of course, but what they will think is a different matter. Nice video nevertheless. A definite like! 😀
I would smash those spins so easy. My opponent wouldn’t dare to try twice. The spin causes the ball to hang in the air longer and I could produce a very powerful return. Easy point to score.
bonne video pour la technique sur ces services par contre il manque les dangers de chacun des services avec exemple de retour gagnant car on ne voit que des retours rates
Do you have to serve with a first bounce on your side? I recall when I played years ago, I would serve with a bounce on my side and a hit over to the other side.
Hi, I have been talking to the developer of the game Eleven about the toss of the ball. The rules in Table tennis say that you have to toss the ball at least 16 cm. That is not much if you ask me. All your serves in your videos are ten times that I would recon. Can you make a video where you only throw the ball 16 cm just to see how easy it is to think that it is an illegal serve? I have played with a guy in Eleven and his tosses where almost not existent, but the logs show that he did toss the ball 16 cm. Very frustrating.
@@berryesseen I know some players who really love the blade. I find it a little heavy to use. It hasn't taken over in pro table tennis, so I suspect there isn't any significant advantage.
The ball falling slightly towards you is accepted if it's not too much. From what i understand you should not throw it front to back (away from the table).
There are not effective serves. There are service return errors. If oponent is focused will return all. I didn't care about spin more focus on the speed. Faster serves return slower. Slower serves return faster.
@@8Photoman_unfortunately that's the attitude which creates nightmares for players first entering International matches when the ITTF service rules are enforced and many players are defaulted....... teach the correct service rule requirements early until its automated, otherwise players should just register for Ping Ping events instead of Table Tennis😂😂
@@8Photoman_my group and friends and I are all casuals and call each other out on it, lol. That said, I don't think it made a difference for the purpose of this video. I don't see him manipulating the ball with his fingers. It was probably for ease of demonstration
#TomLodziak All of the pendulum serves are illegal. Why? Because the rules clearly state that the free arm must be removed immediately from the space between the ball and the net as soon as the ball is projected upwards and Ferenc is clearly not doing that. And yes, I am a qualified umpire, so please don't teach people illegal serves.
So that’s an interesting point. The rule you refer to is this one… 2.6.5 - “As soon as the ball has been projected, the server’s free arm and hand shall be removed from the space between the ball and the net.” This rule was presumably put in place to prevent players from covering the contact of the ball (also addressed in rule 2.6.4). However for some service actions, particularly the pendulum serve, it’s physically quite difficult to move your free arm out of the way as soon as the ball is projected. So most people serve exactly the same as Ferenc. You toss the ball up, bring the free arm back down and then the arm moves out of the way as you rotate into the serve. Maybe Ferenc could move his free arm away a little sooner, but in reality, it’s unlikely ever to be called by an umpire. The ball is visible at all times, so he is gaining no advantage whatsoever. Ferenc has played a lot of competitive matches over the years with qualified umpires and never been called for violating this rule.
@@TomLodziakI think your reply has some credibilty Tom but for sure Ferenc could move his free arm away much quicker. Depending where the receiver is placed, there are positions where they couldn't see the ball during Ferenc's serve. Unfortunately umpires are not consistent enforcing this rule and I wish the ITTF would either amend the rule or take steps to enforce it consistently. If I were umpiring a match where a player was serving in such a fashion I would warn them and then penslise them if it continued. One of the service rules is that the server had the responsibility to serve in such a way to make it clear to the umpire that he/she is serving legally i.e. it cannot be on the borderline of legal versus illegal. Apart from the legality of Ferenc's serve, the serves he demonstrates are useful for the watcher.
These are timings for each serve...
0:50 Pendulum serve
2:49 Reserve pendulum serve
4:53 Backspin serve
6:50 No spin serve
9:04 Hook serve
11:16 Tomahawk serve
13:10 Backhand serve

good tutorial, but what about the grip? having a serve grip adds so much more spin on these serves
do you like mixing up the 7 serves during a match or do you tend to keep hitting the same serve as long it continues to give your opponent trouble?

I usually use last two serves
Can I play a shot/return from the side of the table? Pls confiem
Is illegal use fingers in a serve
Which part of the bat has the spin to it

Is octagon table tennis bat legal?
Yes, it has been used in international play for a couple of years now. It's a STIGA Cybershape blade.

Shame every serve is a fault. Ball held with thumb in cupped hand, not in flat palm. ;)
It appears that you don’t toss the ball in the air straight, but it curves toward you. Is that just the camera angle.
