Nineteen made it into preservation, which is just over a third of the class 14s that were built. The class was a huge waste of money by BR: all 56 were withdrawn as surplus to requirements within six years of being built, because of changing traffic patterns. Most were sold to industrial users, but a few were cut up for scrap, some less than three years after being built.
A nostalgic trip, making me wish I was also onboard this special train hauled by these vintage locos. Even the loco drivers seemed excited about the trip!!
Hi Phil, brilliant vid, I am the steam buff you met Saturday and shared the taxi with , nice to meet you and may catch you at another gala. All the Best, Martyn.
I needed to know why they don’t dig a tunnel and do an extension for the main line Train so that they can extend the unused abandoned underground train stations. Why couldn’t they use the part D78 Stock train doors on the sides and also restructure the front face of the A60 and A62 stock that includes the class 313, class 314 and class 315 remix and make them all together and also redesign them an overhead line and also make them into Five cars per units and also having three Disabled Toilets on those Five cars per units A60 and A62 stock trains and also convert the A60 and A62 stock trains into a Scania N112, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner 6LXC and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Engines and also put the Loud 7-Speed Voith Gearboxes even Loud 8-Speed Leyland Hydra cyclic Gearboxes in the A60 and A62 stock, class 313, class 314, and class 315 and also modernise the A60 and A62 stock and make it into an 11 car per unit so it could have fewer doors, more tables, computers and mobile phone chargers. A Stock Trains and also having 8 Disabled Toilets on those A stock trains. why couldn’t we refurbish and modernise the Waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel and make it larger and extend it to the bank station, making it into a Triple-Track Railway Line so those Five countries such as Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden to convert the waterloo and city line Triple-Track Railway tunnel into a High-Speed Railway lines? The Third Euro tunnel Triple-Track Railway line to make it 11 times better for passengers so they could go from A to B. Then put the modernised 11 car per unit A Stock and put them on a bigger modernised Waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel so it could go to bank station to those Five countries such as Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. The modernised refurbished 11 cars per unit A stock could be a High Speed The Third Triple-Track Euro Tunnel Train So it is promising and 47 times a lot more possible to do this kind of project if that will be OK for London Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. oh by the way, could they also tunnel the Triple-Track Railway Line so it will stop from Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex so that the Passengers will go to Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland and Sweden and also extend the Triple-Track Railway Line from the Bank to Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex Stations so that more people from there could go to Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden more Easily. Why couldn't they extend the Piccadilly Line and also build brand-new underground train stations so it could go even further right up to Clapton, Wood Street can they also make another brand new underground train station in Chingford and could they extend the Piccadilly Line and the DLR right up to Chingford? All of the classes 150, 155, 154, 117, 114, 105, and 106, will be replaced by all of the Scania N112, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner 6LXC and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Five carriages three disabled toilets are air conditioning trains including Highams Park for extended roots which is the Piccadilly line and the DLR trains. Could you also convert all of the 1973 stock trains into an air-conditioned maximum speed 78 km/hours (48 MPH) re-refurbished and make it into a 8 cars per unit if that will be alright, and also extend all of the Piccadilly train stations to make more space for all of the extended 8 car per unit 1973 stock air condition trains and can you also build another Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive Companies and can they order Every 77 Octagon and Every 47 Hexagon shape LNER diagram unique small no.13, unique small no.11 and unique small no.10 Boilers from those Countries such as Greece, Italy, Poland, and Sweden, can they make Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive speeds by up to 147MPH so you can try and test it on the Original Mainline so it will be much more safer for the Passengers to enjoy the 147MPH speed Limit only for HS2 and Channel Tunnel mainline services, if they needed 16 Carriages Per units, can they use those class 55’s, class 44’s, class 40’s and class 43HST Diesel Locomotive’s right at the Back of those 18 Carriages Per Units so they can take over at the Back to let those Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s have a rest for those interesting Journeys Please!!!!!!, oh can you make all of those Coal Boxes’s 18 Tonnes for all of those 147MPH Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s so the Companies will Understand us PASSENGER’S!! so please make sure that the Builders can do as they are told!!!!! And Please do something about these very very important Professional ideas Please? I am guessing the speedo in the leading cab was mysteriously not working that day! Great scene's though that are few and far between now. P.s. all the people on the train probably died or sustained injuries as they were hanging out window's and there were no central door locks....
I use a 4K Sony Handicam now, back then I was using a 2011 Sony Handicam which could record full 1080HD which did me proud for 10 years until it got water damaged and needed replacing.
Fantastic Footage! what a catch , beautiful location as well. I can't believe no-one is allowed to peek out of the window 🥲 anymore.. was a deal-breaker, lot of people i know can't be bothered anymore , not just the bashing riff raff , but it was a poignant , exciting thing , one did . Shame .
It is indeed real, happened last night on our "Bear-Ex" with 9 of the 10 class 14s on one train, believe me I'm sure the caravan owners would testify to that :)
How did the nine locomotive drivers coordinate their operations? Did they all have radios or did they just use horn signals to get instructions from the leading loco? I'm assuming that the class 14 was never fitted for multiple working.
So... ...What happened at the end of the track? Did they have to stick the tenth 'Teddy' on the back end and hope the others cooperated? Nicely shot, and what a sound these make.
A few miles up the line they took the leading 5 off and attached them to the rear of the consist and ran as top & tailed up to the end of the line then back in the same formation as they wouldn't have the space in the terminus station to run them all round. Thanks for the comment :)
Phil6219 That sounds amazing! I'm one of the few Americans who likes British diesels, and these are some of my favorites. Probably because they're center cab locos with steam loco like linkage and hydraulic transmission. A shame they weren't as successful as the class 08s, they could have been great yard transfer engines, essentially "road switchers".
It was a gala, the "Beer-ex" at the end of the day. There should have been 10 but one had failed quite badly during the day and despite hopes to have it dead in tow it was decided to leave it behind and prevent further damage, from memory I think the crankshaft went on it.
So, this means they were built in 1964. What a way to go with all that combined strength on 9 class 14 diesel shunters. This makes the express train they are pulling 9 times faster that one class 14 shunter. Excellent.
Got caught by the Transport police trying to do 50E shed back in early sixties while trying to get the numbers and photograph a line of Claytons all new and lined up at the shed side.
No sadly I didn’t get any numbers as a large pair of Yorkshire transport coppers blocked my view. Did see the Hemelite breeze block factory preserved loco on the old Nicky line as i lived near there.
I very much doubt it. The heritage sector is responsible for little air pollution. It’s insignificant enough for historic locomotives to be exempt from emissions regulations.
Now that's what I call a Teddy Bear's picnic.
Amazing! How stunning! Why does the YT algorithm withhold this from me for NINE YEARS? That's a violation of one's human rights.
Absolutely epic! This is what railway preservation is all about, 9 locos of the same class, all pulling one train!
Yep :) Would have been 10 but there was a failure the day before that couldn't be rectified, it was fun getting the consist all set up :D
And 9 drivers sticking their heads out
Wow, I have never seen anything like this as a train before & listen to all those horns
wow amazing one of the best convoys I have seen on here didn't know there where that many left

Absolutely brilliant.. Wot a great capture.
A nostalgic trip, making me wish I was also onboard this special train hauled by these vintage locos. Even the loco drivers seemed excited about the trip!!
Excellent capture! I saw a class 14 on the North Norfolk Railway
That must have been so much fun!! Thanks for posting.
Specatular!
Now to do that with the remaining Class 50s :)
Try it with the every class 66 in the country.
@@bjoe385
That would be at least a mile long in length
@@Ed_Gilbert and the consist would have over 1.5 million horsepower.
@@bjoe385 when the 66 turns 66 years old, have the remaining preserved engines all head one train together!
@@bennickss would like to see that.
That is outrageously awesome...what a sight. Hellfire vid!
Cheers mate
Phil6219 thanks phil
My lords I've rode behind to different ones before on the nene valley railway but nine on one train awesome good capture also thanks
Thanks :)
What Great Little Locos The Class 14s are their horns were playing a little tune very rare to see 9 in a row everyday
Hi Phil, brilliant vid, I am the steam buff you met Saturday and shared the taxi with , nice to meet you and may catch you at another gala.
All the Best, Martyn.
Hi bud, was nice meeting you :)
What an epic, and magnificent sight. Thanks for sharing it. 👍👍👍. Are they the total amount preserved. The horns made sweet music. Wow. (🎶).
Now there's something you don't see every day, Fantastic ! :)
Cool video! Very interesting locos and awesome honking sound! BIG LIKE! Greetings from Romania ;)
Brilliant and well done to everyone who made it possible.
Cheers mate
That is an absolutely fantastic shot!
Thank you :)
Wow, what a brilliant video capture
Thank you :)

WOW........... left me breathless. So fantastic. Gr8 to c they all preservrd and restored. Like and favourite Phil.
Cheers mate, it was a great way to cap off a fantastic event.
wow what a hellfire of the extra 9 teddybears
Those horns make me appreciate the much more melodious Nathan/Leslie airhorns here in the US even more.
These are only shunters so the horns arent that good
These are only large shunters
I agree : British horns are crap compared to US ones.
How cool is that?! That was amazing!!
We need to do it again with a few more on for extra noise :)
Wonder if some of them are ex .British steel Corby
D9520, D9539 and D9537 were all ex British Steel Corby :)
Thanks for that Phil I remember them in the quarries and called the mines engine's . Ah the good days!
Just come across this, it's just nuts, love it!!
Thanks :)
Brilliant catch.
Thank you :)
I dont normally do class 14's, but when i do, i do 9 of them in a row singing a song.
same here :)
Now that's what I call a railtour!
We like to do things in style at the Lancs ;)
Fantastic, superb, magnificent, excellent, fabulous.....etc,etc!
Now how about a re do for 60 years of them?
The Ecclesbourne Railway are doing that this year I believe :)
Totally bizarre and wonderful!! Thank you
Thanks, we should have had 10 but one failed during the day and we didn't want to risk further damage by dragging it on this.
Hellfire. Really fantastic to see so many people turned out for it as well.
It was great to see so many people about, really made the event a success.
Awesome! So many locomotives! 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you :)
I have Subscribed..although a Steam man..I voulunteer at GCR..never quite seen anything like that before..!
Amazing!
I really want to see one in Load Haul livery, there's a model by Heljan if a teddy in that Livery, gorgeous!
Indeed, that livery was put out as a decoy to convince people we were doing D9537 in LH, would look epic in that though I admit :)
That was a really good-looking livery.
One of the best..... so nice as well to see people full of joy on the train 👍😃
Thank you, yes lots of happy people on this one, the main event of the weekend :)
The musical tone is my ringtone
Haha cool!
What a lovely sight! They sound great, like the horns at the same time
It sure was, it was a hard choice to not work that one and film instead but I think made the right decision :)
Very nice 👌👌 a lot of power on the tour train 👌👌💙
Thank you, it's a bit overpowered for the load but these locos only have 650 horses each ;)
great stuff love the tones and convoy 10/10
Wowzers you don't see that every day! Amazing
It's certainly something different :)
HEY THIS HAPPENED ON MY BIRTHDAY!!! :D
*please tell me you were 14!!!!
Hi just looking up class 1 to 30 trains
Now that looked like FUN.
Yeah it was :)
id expect to see something like this in a movie
Love it!
Thanks :)
wow wow this is amazing!
Thanks :)
Great video & what a show eh!
Thanks Simon :)
My! There's 5,850 hp there. Almost like two Deltics!
I'd take the Deltics any day ;)
Absolutey fantastically brilliant .

good lord - thats amazing. They need to practice their horn blowing tho, a bit tuneless.
ROCK N ROLL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Wow thats one epic convoy@!!!!!!

I use a 4K Sony Handicam now, back then I was using a 2011 Sony Handicam which could record full 1080HD which did me proud for 10 years until it got water damaged and needed replacing.

Phil6219 Should have been 10 but with the unfortunate demise of D9523, it was whittle down to 9. Still, never been done before! :D
And never again I would guess; must have been an expensive event to put on.
WE'RE ON OUR WAY TO STORM THE SODOR!
We having fun I think!
if d9523 was repaired in time it would have been a 10 by 10 teddy bears on one train
Sure would have, unfortunately the damage was just too much to risk and required pretty much an entire engine rebuild.
Phil6219 yeah
Alright, who spawned the trainz consist?
Haha yeah
was this some sort of Guinness Book of Record attempt?
Cats don't have 9 lives, bears do!
MotoCrazy66 Hehehe true
Brilliant !
Cheers :)
How did the nine locomotive drivers coordinate their operations? Did they all have radios or did they just use horn signals to get instructions from the leading loco?

Think of this. That's 5'850hp your seeing in front of you.😅
So one and a half Deltics ;)

Impressive. 9 of these 14s on a rail tour . excellent. Or was it a gala lol

@@Phil6219 thanks. Brilliant vid though with all these beasties of old school. Keep up the good buddy
Bonkers! Liked.
Wowsers!!! 😮😊👍
Hellfire that was front window with mr bray ;-)
The dictionary has a new definition of "Hellfire" :D
Best 14-hauled train ever for bonkers value! Try and top that!
should do this more often
Well I'd say this has been a success, couldn't do it too often but has proven that a single class event can work out.
WAP 7 BEST LOCOMOTIVE 6000 HP .
Could have had some in their NCB liveries!!
The 3rd one in was in NCB blue and numbered 38 :)
Impressive!
9 members of the same class... hauling a passenger train... you literally do see anything like that everyday.
Why have 1 when 9 will do? Its a first for me, never seen anything like it.
Probably never going to happen again either, just got to try and top that next year...
Phil6219
That must have been incredible. I've never seen anything like it. Was this event going towards something?
Was just the main highlight of a gala celebrating the 50th anniversary of the introduction of the Class 14.
So, this means they were built in 1964. What a way to go with all that combined strength on 9 class 14 diesel shunters. This makes the express train they are pulling 9 times faster that one class 14 shunter. Excellent.
Fantastic

Dziękuję bardzo :)

ouch, I hope you managed to get plenty of numbers before the BTP got hold of you :/
No sadly I didn’t get any numbers as a large pair of Yorkshire transport coppers blocked my view. Did see the Hemelite breeze block factory preserved loco on the old Nicky line as i lived near there.
A lot faster than 25 THATS for sure!
Hard to read the speedo in a Class 14, bounces round too much ;)
Phil6219 ah
I’ve done stuff like that on trainz simulator before but never expected to it in real life
Haha yes ;)
Surely that's a one off

I very much doubt it. The heritage sector is responsible for little air pollution. It’s insignificant enough for historic locomotives to be exempt from emissions regulations.
