Great vlog watching a Peak back on mainline...takes me back to the days catching a train to the North from Bristol Temple Meads with Class 45 or 46 on the front 😊.
Great also to see D213 Andiania in the middle, she was the loco that my Grandfather drove on his last day before retirement from LMS in the late 60's. We recently found a photo of him leaning out of the cab on his last day, Locomotive Services Ltd were kind enough to allow my son and I to visit Andania in Crewe to recreate the photo for our next generation of the family.
@@JJthrashing And the Blue Star equipment was removed later on I can't see any Blue Star jumpers at all on the 45 or interconnected with the 40 / the 40 with the 37 in any other videos too
In the video clip passing under the bridge 45 on the rear was only engine powered up you can clearly hearing working hard must of been in multiple mode.. 40 & 37 didn’t sound to be switched on couldn’t even hear it idling..
@@RailView_YT most welcome it's great to see a class 45 back on the mainline again next hopefully a class 46 and 44 peak again we all live in hope cheers Steve
Not personally a fan of peaks (they arent a fan of me either they always break after ive been on them) but that peak sounds like its got the 47s engine in it rather than what it was given from factory!
The Engine fitted to the Class 45 is a Sulzer 12LDA28B, the engine fitted to a class 47 is a Sulzer 12LDA28C which is am uprated version of the class 45 engine, thats why they sound similar
What a great sight seeing a 'Peak' back on the main line. Fantastic video. 👍
Thanks very much, Allan! It certainly is brilliant to see a 45 back on the mainline :)

Just fantastic seeing a peak out on the mainline great sounds from a nice loco

For those of us, for whom a 'railway journey' meant a 45/1 to St Pancras this is FANTASTIC news.

The peak sounds awesome
2:10 Now there's something you don't see too often: a Peak on a propelling move, driven from the rear I assume! 🚂👍
45 was doing all the work even when it was on the rear in multiple mode 40, 37 just left idling great video 👍
It can't be in multiple, there's no blue star equipment on it? Only the ETH jumper?
Thank you very much! :)
Cameron
@@PoxyMoxon97yes there where fitted with ETH a later date had steam boilers when first manufactured and MU blue star.

It's like classic cars: 45's, 40's, 37's, Capri, XJS, MGB....
The Class 45 Peaks are based on D199 from Enterprising Engines and Super Rescue
Would they be the original Nameplates ?
Did this go to Crewe today? I was walking over London Road bridge Derby and barely saw them thundering through.
Yes, she did a return run to Worksop and back to Barrow Hill, then Barrow Hill to Crewe via Sheffield..👍
man i wanted 45106 back;-;
Nice bit of sulzer thrash 😂

Yes , quite a similar engine sound to a 47 but disctinctive in it's own way. 45118's power unit does seems to be exceptionally well tuned.
She look's and sound great but isn't that a class 47 engine she has
See @MrAuriga67 's reply to @class50thrasher 's comment explaining why they sound similar!
The Peaks and Class 47 have the same Sulzer 12LDA28 engine.
The 45's had the 12LDA28-B engine (according to Wikipedia) an earlier version of the 47's 12LDA28-C, so quite similar in terms of sound.
