Really interested in picking up an S1000R possibly next season. I've owned a smattering of yamaha naked bikes from multiple FZ07s (1 nicely built for track days), an fz09, and an MT09sp. Sold the MT09sp and am only riding my fz07 track bike at the moment. I keep shopping the hyper naked market and of course being so familiar with yamaha the MT10 seems like a great option but I just love the look of that all black S1000R. Ive been researching it more and seems to be such a slept on offering in this this class. I've ridden the MT10 and Tuono V4 on the track and wasn't necessarily blown away by either one (I'm also a chronic intermediate so not like I was actually ringing them out to their fullest either). Got my eye on this bike, top of my list currently for next summer I'm thinking

Issues with the velocity stack 🤔? Have you heard from the dealer about the service at 30k or 18k miles? BMW dealer told me they had to tear apart the engine to basically rebuild it and the cost is approx 8k€.
Have you tried the Triumph Speed Triple RS 1200 ?

With bikes that make 140-160hp I can kinda see the argument of a tune but these new M series Beemers make 200+hp from the factory. Is a tune and thousands in performance bits really that necessary to try and squeeze a few more ponies out of a already tapped out little 999 I4 while decreasing reliability and potentially voiding a factory warranty?

    Hi Bill,
I’m a little confused. Why did you take down the video covering the tire change?
Surely it wouldn’t have any issues relating to the bike’s warranty / operation or BMW.
    Consumers can change tires 🤔.
    Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺

Hopefully the problem is something / nothing all M1000R owners need to worry about. I interested to hear about the issue and the resolution.

Why not just keep it stock? Or maybe just a can for the sound? The bike already has 200+ HP. How much more insane performance do you really need. All of those changes especially the tune will void the warranty. You can return the bike to stock expect the tune. They can always tell if the ECU has been flashed.

No doubt the Gen3 should be better in many aspects but the gen1 sport I have is mega fun and no Chickenstripz left here mate lol.

You roide well and your 2022 s1000r is a beautiful bike but not just for yourself but every one with the 2022 must be pissed off that if only everyone knew this m1000r 2023 is now out with massive performance quality in every part of the bike and not only is it so far ahead of the 2022 in every way but now the value of the 2022 will drop dramatically so not only is the m1000r 2023 have better everything but trying to sell the 2022 model is now going to be not only hard but at a big loss of money as apposed to if you sold a 2022 before the 2023 was unleashed. I suppose it's like alot of things, IF ONLY WE DID IT DIFFERENTLY but hine sight can be a real bitch and that stands not only if you have a 2022 and now the 2023 has been released but also probably for alot of choices that we say to ourselves IF ONLY I DID ....... thank you for your time to make these videos and also for being real and interesting keeping us subscribers watching till the end of all of your videos, i enjoy your content greatly, thank you for sharing with us. Came from a '22 Tuono V4 and agree, the S1000R is better... FOR ME... The torque was great, the sound was good. Everything else is better on the BMW. The Tuono only got better after a Gabro map, standard I wasn't impressed with the electronics at all!

If u want an m you would probably have to act soon before they are gone but I’d say s1000 for more street/comfort and m for that more aggressive suspension. Unless your a pro I, don’t think u would see much difference in power

If I had the money for both I'd go for the M since it is in limited numbers, but as the other guy said for street riding and comfort the s would be great, but I would get the M for the love of owning a hyper naked, the engine in that thing is a piece of art, most probably I won't need all that power, the power of the s is more that enough for me,and the looks of the M with all the carbon and CNC pieces is just mega!!all you need to do to it is a header, filter and tune and you are good to go.

I would go with the white M1000R. By the time I spec'd out at S1kr with premium package, and a few extras it was over $20k. For $21K you get all those features standard.+$95 if you need a passenger seat. I'd say it's a no brainer.

  • @darthzyl

BMWs dont really have character. Yes its good, but it has no character...its got German sophistication, but no Italian style or character. However, the BMW 1000 engine is the closest to character you are going to get. But the M1000R is not worth the money.
You do ride the thing like you stole it, and I can respect that. 😂

As a former 2014 S1000R owner, I was one of the first on the East coast in 2014, and a current M1000R owner, this is spot on. They're amazing feature wise, but they do lack something intangible. It is a better highway bike than the alternatives, but it doesn't have the sound that the V4S or Aprilia's have, or even the R1.
