Meet the Bags Packed Family: Jonathan and Kelly, along with our three adventurous children. Nine years ago, we embarked on an incredible journey, leaving our home in Alaska, USA, behind to explore the world. As teachers, we were fortunate to find amazing opportunities in Chennai, India, where we spent two enriching years. Seeking new experiences, we then made our way to the United Arab Emirates.

Something that Kelly may find interesting: there's a vegan restaurant called "Kehidupan Tidak Pernah Berakhir" (literal translation: Life Will Never End). It serves variety of tasty vegan dishes that I think the rest of the family would still enjoy as well
Its all vegan. They've sate but it's made for vegan. I'm not a vegan but I enjoyed eating it too. Please check that restaurant out.

Tahu is Indonesian word for Tofu, and you can find a lot of Tahu variety around Indonesia, it's one of the staple dishes along with Tempeh and their variety, and it's vegetarian approved, Enjoy the food!

Dessert you had was originally from China. Roughly translated in english, "glutinous rice ball" in Chinese Cantonese they say "tong-yoon" high pitched "O". The most famous one is black sesame. And you have them in hot water. Once you finished you can drink the water afterwards. Sorry can't remember what the Mandarin version is called. I think it's "taang-yan" or something 🤔?? Hope you guys enjoy it. We have them in Australia too, they sell in some restaurants and even at Asian supermarkets. The black sesame one is most people's favourite. We also have green tea and peanut flavoured glutinous rice ball. They have many of these in Hong Kong as well

Tahu pletok is a fried tofu with a tapioca flour on the side. Seasoning with a garlic and some chives. This food is originated from Tegal😊 and Tahu Aci is has the same ingredients but in differecnt shapes. Tahu pletok is more crispy

I'm very recommended to all of you guys to try sate ayam bumbu kacang (which means chicken satay with peanut souce)... it is one of the most favorite dishes in Indonesia for kelly which is a vegan you have to try pecel sayur (vegetables pecel)... and have you guys a great journey...so enjoy your vlog..🤩🥳😍

i visited that night market last year and tried the sate babi that you guys tried and i’d say their sate is so good, probably the second best sate babi that i’ve tried (second after thailand’s street pork satay).
i’d definitely try the other ones when i come back there.
Hello Guys! If You Guys Come To Jakarta On Weekends, I Would Recommend Going To Car Free Day At Bundaran HI, There Are Alot Of Vendors Over There And If Not Restaurants! This Mostly Happens At Around 6AM-11AM. You Could Also Walk/Jog Around Bundaran HI! Hope This Helps

I love Aci ; w ; Aci is actually starch of cassava! It's our favorite snack especially Sundanese people (tribe that lives in Bandung). Together with tahu and bakso, it id the best

That glutinous thing with tofu is tapioka flour. In Bandung called 'Aci' or Kanji/ tapioka in Bahasa.
the dessert that you tried at the end is called ronde and yes it originated from china (called tangyuan/汤圆). actually there are quite a lot of indonesian foods that are originated from china, like bakmi/mie ayam, bakso, kwetiau, bakpao, pangsit, lumpia, etc.
samchan (pork belly) and lapcheong (chinese pork sausage) that you guys ate are also from china, that’s why the names sound chinese.

Recommendation! If you want to experience Sundanese foods in little hut by the waterfall or just like hiking in general, please look for Kampung Daun Lembang. It has a special olace to my heart, you should try the Pisang Kepok! Wonderful place.

“Tahu” has 2 meanings.
1. to know, and
2. tofu
Tahu Aci (tapioca starch) means tofu in tapioca starch.
CiLok is aCI di coLOK or tapioca starch on a stick.
There is also CiReng aCI digoRENG or fried tapioca starch.
Bandung and most of West Java are known for their tofu/tahu.

Hi friends, I think you and your family are very harmonious, and you have lived in Indonesia for several months or years, why not just learn Indonesian of course by understanding and being able to speak Indonesian it will make it easier for you and your family to communicate
because they lived at the mountain of tembagapura in west papua where the population of that town are mostly expats who speaks english, so probably the only time they could really learn n practice bahasa is when they are vlogging which is what they did. also one must note that people have different abilities when it comes to learning new language as we can see the mom kelly could learn bahasa way better than the father jonathan. they should encourage their children to learn bahasa instead since kids generally learn language easier than adults, plus if they can speak bahasa its not only can be used in indonesia but also in malaysia
My favorite thing heck with you showing food and everything was the funniest the funniest the best thing ever was Jonathan saying that the kids at some point will start fighting but this is a good point right now everybody's getting along and fun but that's better than you showing the food or anything just talking about everyday life your kids fighting and arguing cuz we all do kids or no kids we all do that that's so funny and it was so cute the way he said we're at the good part right now where everybody's getting along
You guys should go to Wahoo Waterworld in Kota Baru Parahyangan it's near to Bandung. It's a huge waterpark the kids will love it
