Wow didn't expect you to stumble on Tjanang ice cream. When you said classic Ice cream I thought it would be Ragusa, which is near Monas area. I believe Tjanang had a small shop in the 80s. A bit sad to see it "reduced" to just 1 cooler box. BTW, you already tried Soto Betawi (Cedar was right 😅). Jakarta's been getting a lot criticism but seeing the city through your perspective makes me smile!

Cool how they travel young . Plus they their kids can learn stuff and try new stuff . I wonder when they get older if they do any traveling or etc or no . And that's good in few yrs they retire or less travel so that way they can have a home base . But surprise they choose where they did for the home base the cold weather or not a lot of light etc .

Dodol already cooked guys.. Just eat it on it's own.. U can find variety of dodol but in Malaysia famous dodol durian with yellow color.. But the brown color would be palm sugar or gula perang/brown sugar dodol.. Best eaten on it's own as snacks with coffee/tea in the afternoon..
Another tip for vegetarians : Try (if you haven’t already) : 1. Pecel (veggies with peanut sauce) 2. Gado-gado (veggies with peanut sauce, tofu/tempeh, potato) 3. Lontong sayur (compressed rice cake with veggies in coconut broth) They have pecel and gado-gado everywhere.
