    Thanks Phil 👍 we checked on our caravan over winter and mince got into the front locker an eaten there way through a bag for life I left in there. The front locker floor has loads of big gaps in it and mines a 2018 swift too 👍

      Hi Carl. Thats bad news. I am guessing they didn't get into the main van as the bulk head is quite sealed. Thanks Phil👍🙂

    Hi Phil I think the best thing I used was stainless Steel scourers what the wife uses for keening pots and pans

      Hi. They are quite good as they do not rust like some wire wool. Good idea. Thanks Phil🙂👍

    Interesting video Phil 👍. As Paul mentioned, never seen silicone with metal content before. I suppose it’s generally pest controllers that know about. The copper wool gives a neat finish around pipes and easy to take out if required. Thanks for the advice. Cheers, Rob & Gail 😀

      Hi Rob n Gail yes silicone with bits in is sold by pest control companies at about £15 a tube. I chose not to buy it. The copper wire wool and the gauze are better solutions. Thanks Phil 🙂👍

    Rodents and insects will look for a warm place to shelter, particularly in the autumn when it’s getting colder outside, so for the same reason Pest Control businesses are the busiest around October / November, that is generally the best time to check your caravan for any unwanted invaders.

    • @lostweekendscaravan
      @lostweekendscaravan  2 месяца назад +1

      Hi. Yes you are quite right. They look for shelter in the colder mountains months. Also you have to factor in pitching on grass and wooded areas. They are attracted by food we drop or don’t empty from our bins. The measure I have highlighted also work against ants. Currently away and ant invasion so far. Thanks Phil 🙂👍

    Phil - another really useful video, some great ideas that will help me with ants while away. I’m lucky that I can store our camper in the garage, so I’ve bought an electronic rodent repeller that keeps them away. Prior to using this I had them nesting all over the garage, now there’s no sign of them. Keep up the good work ❤ Mike

    Hi Phil I’ve had mice in front locker they’d chewed at a piece of webbing I had in the locker. My 4 berth became 5 when I disturbed a mouse sleeping under the jockey wheel cover, thankfully no damage. Great help as always 👍

    We use cotton balls with peppermint on them in the corners of the caravan, and ant powder around the steadies - the waste water pipes remain closed but I do put wire wool in them - so far we have not had any successful invaders.

    Hi Phil. Great video and advice on the mice and rat problems we can all suffer. Copper wool is a fantastic idea and will look into that. Like you said, coming up once a week if storage, you should see any difference in your interior if they've been in, especially under the front cushions. Never heard of the silicone with metal bits in. Good idea, I think. You like to see if it works, tho. Again Great video and thanks for showing us everything you did in this video. Paul and Sarah

      Hi BB. Yes silicone with metal bits is sold by specialist rodent control companies. It’s about £15 a tube. You would think silicone alone would put them off! I spent quite a bit of time on this video you’ll be surprised at what some companies would sell you (rubbish). Thanks Phil 🙂👍

    We had mice in our swift and they came in via the marker cable wires that are in each corner of the front locker, lucky we caught them before any damage was done. we pushed in some stainless steel scourer pads into the oversized holes and 2 years on no mice and pads have not rusted. cheap easy fix for less than a pound.
