      You have a great caravan there. I don't understand why they don't make folding caravans anymore. With modern composite materials, they would far easier to put up too. A suggestion for you, those 'cotter pins' are fine of course, but difficult to use. You may find 'lynch pins' easier. They are often found on trailers, but especially on (older) tractors to hold implements on, so they are tried and tested.

      What i have heard and read vintage in motors means 30 years and older. So actually a vehicle built in 1993 would turn vintage this year, born in 1978, so yeah i do feel old sometimes

    • @altclut
      @altclut Год назад

      Technically ‘vintage’ just means it’s from a certain year. (ie. 2023 vintage.) I was born in 1954 but I fear you must have been born at least ten years earlier! In any case, your definition of the word ‘vintage’ is delusional. I send you my best wishes.

    Back in the 70s, we had a small folding camper made by Apache. The top cranked up, and then you pulled the front and rear bunks out, and raised the tent support bars, and done. It was the size of the one seen here, when folded up, but with the bunks deployed, it slept 6, comfortably. Oh, yeah, never forget to lower the support legs. LOL Thanks for the video.

    Will, this is the first video of yours that I've watched. I live in The States. Over here we have several companies that build "A frame" solid walled folding campers (caravans). You and your viewers might enjoy a Canadian camper's RUclips channel. His channel's title is "Slim Potatohead". Slim owned a used Aliner folding camper for 4 or 5 years. He made numerous videos both of his travels and modifications he made to it.
    Slim finally decided to get a different caravan due to the Aliner's age. He now has a small fiberglass cube type of camper.
    Slim travels throughout Canada and the U.S. He usually "boondocks" (self-contained/off grid, no external electrical power) in state/provincial or national parks.
    Slim is a born tinkerer; customizing and improving his camper.
    I'm subscribing to your interesting channel. I hope i haven't inadvertently confused or insulted you or your followers with my "American" English. Mr Churchill observed that the Americans and the British were "Two peoples separated by a common language."😱😁

    I had a folding caravan in Australia, a bit bigger with a permanent double bed and a sitting/eating area that converted to another double bed. The previous owner only ever stayed in caravan parks, so he took out the gas and had a microwave and a single induction cooking plate. I added those Chinese disposable bottle gas burners, one for pots and a wok, and deep dish one for steaks and the like, or casseroles. They make a metal box for the single burners so that you can bake or do very small roasts. I also carried an antique Dutch oven and an enamel pot if we were going bush and having a campfire. It only weighed 800 kg so well within the towing capacity of many modern smaller cars.

    Would be lovely to see a ford transit westfalia nugget first generation! Like the 1986 - 1991 version! More space than the VW westfalia, and pretty luxurious. And just as old as this pack of cards😂

    We call those tent trailers. I miss mine. We had a 1978 Otto. It was awesome.

    I guess they don't make Jags like they use to, your grandads one looks more newer than a three year old jag of today. Another entertaining watch Will, hope you do an in depth review of the Jag one day.
