I just picked `up a 74 aquasport. Same layout and everything`. I am in the process of doing all of the same work now, and your entire series will help me keep my process organized with a ton of super-useful tips!! Thank you for documenting this!!!!!
one tip....coming from a tile installer lol, when you trowel, trowel all in one direction so you know that all of the air escapes. Im sure with the bolts and weight of the pavers it did fine, but hey If I can share any tips of my own why not. Awesome progress btw!
When clamping together a large areas use a torque wrench or torque measuring tool to keep even pressures across your clamping boards. The unequal torques on the bolts will give you the wave or bulges due to the uneven pressures from the bolts.
Hey Marcel, hope your making good headway on The A.Sport. I had to cancel the transom install had a diesel problem different boat same headache ,, 2 rebuilt 3126 cats are now being billed to my account and installed hahaha y we do this ,,,,, Anyway if you remember me I had to remove my transom from the outer skin partly b/c I didn’t due my research and b/c it was rotted , neglected and written off I just went for the outer skin cut. I have all 400 series fillers from west systems which would you use to press these 2 pieces of 3/4” together ? U/N classic Aquasport “Capt.MattF”. Thanks bro looks great keep doing what your doing 5x5 my friend
Funny thing is I have the same boat and same transom but b/c I had to remove the outer laminate I have 2,5/8” of space b/t inside laminate and edge of old gunwales that 90’d to old transom , hoping the 1708 will fill the void
Yes, I washed the amine blush off and then sanded. In tbe future for all my glasswork that will have any more work done on it I will use peel ply, takes care of both those issues. Thanks for watching and feel free to ask any questions!
@@marcelft awesome thanks. I've tore the transom out of my Kenner 23V and I will be adding Coosa in the next week or 2. Will be closing in my transom also. Your videos have been a lot of help. Do you think laying the glass in the last video then adding the coosa directly afterwards would work (doing both in one step)? Or is that trying to do too much at one time?
I think that it's doable with being prepared, slow hardner, extra hands. Only thing I'd be worried about the heat generated by that much glass and thickened epoxy? On mine since I was closing transom, in the thought of drilling the holes to clamp the coosa in through wet glass was something I was questioning.
@@marcelft That makes since. I do like the idea of bolting through the transom. I was planning on clamping and bracing off stringers like the shipshapeTV coosa vid but I'm probably going to bolt. Will definitely use peel ply, thanks....
@@marcelft , Sail Life is a good one as well, both have great content! I sure wish we had a marine connection liquidator in Tn! Lol. Cant wait to see your boat finished, good luck and great job my man!
Tnx for sharing this with us all.
And that without any ads.
Very well done Mr.

Glad you're finding it useful! Are you on classicaquasport.com also?
@@marcelft I'm not. I have been using it as a reference for things, but I'm not a member on the site.
The guys on there have been really helpful

That totally makes sense! There could be air pockets stuck in there! Probably not a biggie, bit I'll definitely do that next time. Thanks!
One of the best looking jobs I’ve seen on RUclips

COOSA BOARD IS A GREAT PRODUCT BUT SEACAST IS VERY STRONG AND CUTS OUT SOME OF THE STEPS THAT YOU HAD TO DO WITH THIS TRANSOM REBUILD
Did you have to do any prep to the glass you laid in the previous video before adding the coosa? Sand it or wash it with water or anything?

Yeah, if it's your first time, might as well just use peel ply and not stress about trying to get coosa in too. Good things take time.
Boat works today. Check him out. If you haven't already. May have been where you saw the belt sander...
Yes! That guy taught me so much. Also check out SailLife
