Because I'm so fascinated by space babies, I started a project on lego ideas last year called "Classic Space Baby Command Base" which contains two blue, white, red, yellow, green and black classic space babies. I hope we get a lot more colors and it doesn't end with the pink one. 🧑🚀🛰♥

Yes, I think it was a REALLY great idea of Lego's and I hope that they continue to do similar ones in the future. As soon as I heard that it was being released, I knew that I HAD to get one.

I think the Baby Face is cuter and hopefully will be the norm. We might have to wait and see after the pink space baby if the next one will have regular face or not. You may just have to build another rainbow row for the Baby Face pink and blue, and then keep the other two in theirs?
Lol! I’m going to end up making different versions of Everyone is Awesome for years !!!! It looks like they will give us the baby faces if they come with adult minifigs, but classic smiley faces in micro sets. Thanks for commenting
It's a good suggestion. Yellow was the third original colour, after Lego made white and Red classic spacemen. And also... Benny's space squad had Lenny, the pink astronaut so yellow would be the obvious choice to reproduce that set, as you'd then have them all. WELL SPOTTED ! Thanks for commenting
I'm hoping to find a classic spaceman shirt some day. Also the baby face ones are very cute to bad the white doesn't have it. Not sure why they did two different heads. I hope the next space baby is red. I saw on the lego ideas a play ground on the moon scene which looked great maybe that will get made. I had red, yellow, and white space babies. with the baby faces.
If you use a 2 by 2 bricks and a 2 by 2 jumper, it dosent look like the original every spaceman is awesome because it dosent look slidy enough, instead, i think you should make it 1 stud wide Also, since it is every space BABY is awesome, you should use the baby face,
I tried using 1x1, but I would have to thicken teh base, as I cousin;t used one plate, I'd have to make it out of smaller plates, and it looked too thick (as it's so small, compared to the original set) When the pink baby comes along in June Im going to have to re-think it anyway, so maybe I'll make the stripes 1 stud wide then. And yes, the baby face seems to be the more popular one, but what ever I do, I will have to mix and match, as the white one only comes with teh classic face, and the pink one will only come with the baby face. I'll have to wait and see what it all looks like in May.

Yes, I happen to have teh sparkle and sewer babies set, and I probably have all teh city ones made so far, but... most is in storage while I try to sort my future Lego room. Oooooohhh, Space baby battle packs, think how many you could buy and make huge micro space displays !!! I have seen one guy at a Lego show who has recreated a LOT of teh classic space sets in Micro scale, and put Blue space babies in them all. I guess he will have more astronauts now!!! YES! i am willing to write beggy letters/emails to Lego about this. They didn't give me the other things I asked for yet (Star Wars Architecture, Purple Classic Space Guy in one pack, Mid Legs in the BAM bins at the Lego Stores), but I am still hopeful! ! :)
official 40712 description of which sets were inspiration: "Inspired by the iconic LEGO space sets from between 1978 and 1983, it features 4 micro models: the rocket launchpad and space station from Alpha Rocket Base (483), the rocket transport vehicle from Mobile Rocket Transport (6950) and the spaceship from Space Patrol (6803)." (this came from the us-gb version of the web site, but they failed to localize 483 to 920, sorry about that)

But if they are saying that the flyer is inspired by 6803, I'm a bit disappointed. as I think they could have done a better job!!!!! @@MinifigJez I feel the same way. 6803 was a rough one to ID, and that's how/why I went to the source in the first case. My (uninformed) guess is that Mel (the designer) almost certainly created a whole range of mini-sets in the LEGOLAND Space theme, and they chose which ones to put together to make the cost/price mark for the set. 6803 wasn't a dead ringer for the original, but probably did hit the price point, and so made it into the set. As a small aside, I'm laughing that it seems like I'm more upset about the 483 / 920 number ID in the text than you are. It's too bad they did that. :-)
@Your (uniformed) guess, seems very sound reasoning and I imagine you're entirely correct. Re: the numbering... I suppose it depends on which sets you are more familiar with. As I'm from the UK, I know the set as 920 Rocket Launch Pad, but if you're more familiar with the US sets, you'd know it as 483 Alpha-1 Rocket Base! It seems that some USA versions take preference. For example, the one that always makes me laugh is that last year, they called the classic space remake "Galaxy Explorer" and gave it the number LL928 on the side of the ship (Like the original). The original UK Version was set 928, but in the UK it was called "Space Cruiser and Moonbase" The USA version was called "Galaxy Explorer", but it was set 497 (which obviously didn't match it's printed bricks ) So the remake went with the original printing on the ship (UK number), but went with the mismatched US name, But went with the original USA set number and called it set 10497... come on Lego designers, make up your mind!!!!! (You can see it's name in a 1980 catalogue here: images.brickset.com/library/view/?f=catalogues/c80uk&p=16 and it was called the same in UK catalogues from 1979 to 1983)
Awesome!🔥 These micro builds really are great! I think the 1 brick wide could work best, particularly if they release more than just the pink. Your original video inspired me to make every spaceman awesome as well! I've currently added the babies to the same lines that their big counterparts are on. For the blue, I staggered some 1x1 studs with tiles, so that they wouldn't block each other. It looks nice, but I may have to try this also to see which I like better in person!

They aren't extremely high value yet. They seem to be in the £30-£35 price range on Bricklink and eBay. I guess you'll have to hang on to it for a while.

It was a free gift from Lego from 16th to 25th February, when you spent $200 or £180, so you can't get it anymore from them. It was a free gift from Lego from 16th to 25th February, when you spent $200 or £180, so you can't get it anymore from them. So the only way you can get it now are from places like eBay or Bricklink.com
