Tron's journey in Legacy is a continuation with his concern over Flynn's lack of plan in the original. Clu is the digital manifestation of "The User's Plan" for the system, something Tron shows a deep desire for in the original.
Rejecting Clu is Rejecting the omnipotent, omniscient, perfect image of the Users that Tron has clung to as a guiding light throughout his life.
Breaking free of Rinzler is Tron going from fighting on behalf of users to truly fighting FOR them.
its these ideas that i think truly push tron ahead of most other sci-fi movies. the atmostphere is unmatched, the graphics are incredible, the story is intriguing, but its the questions and concepts you're left with that ultimately make this universe so interesting. the idea that what is "perfect" can never be objectively described, even by a computer system. the internal conflict of tron fighting his own programming to ultimately decide to push for what flynn believes is a perfect world now as opposed to what he believed was perfect during the inception of the grid. all of these things make you think about the philosophies of technology, human emotion, and how people interact. and THATS what i think tron does better than pretty much any other movie i have ever seen.
It never fails to get me choked up when in Legacy, we hear Bruce Boxleitner's voice from under Rinzler's mask saying "I fight for the Users!" I'm not even a super-huge fan of this franchise, though I do like it. . . Tron is just such a pure, perfect hero, witnessing his return from darkness just hits me on some fundamental levels.
I just hope we don't have to wait another 30 some years for the next sequel

Rumors are circulating that Jared Leto (himself a big Tron fan) is working on a third Tron film, tentatively titled "Tron: Ares" I believe.
I haven't heard anything about the plot, but if Disney will greenlight the project we might just see a new Tron film within a year or two...fingers crossed. 🤞

Leto is a horrible actor who is too "method" whatever that means
On the set of Suicide Squad, he was "in character" the whole time, he would only respond if you called him Joker or Mr J and mailed dead rats to his costars
On Morbius he supposedly drank small amounts of blood every day
And on Dallas Buyers Club, he lost about 50 pounds in order to play an AIDS victim

I loved the original Tron when I first saw it. It is a great movie that sparks the imagination. It took a while for me to love Legacy as it was not really a a continuation of the original but it does add to the mythos.
What are you talking about? Legacy is a bloody sequel.
I'd saddened we never saw the culmination of Uprising. It was a fun show. The casting announcement of Ares concerns me as it seems to ignore the Flynns and Quorra entirely, unless they just aren't announced yet or will play supporting roles that tie directly into the story. Perhaps Tron's reset will see him also follow Ares into the real world.
Tron legacy will forever be unmatched 🙏🏽

Tron was yet another massive turning pt. in history. They used that move in grade schools to try to get kids into video games and software. Thinking about how this movie was even before Atari?

"Now that is a big door!" Funny scenes in both movies. I saw Tron when I was a kid and today I have toys and movie posters in my collection. Hoping Tron 3 is in the works.

I saw Tron in the theater as a kid - yeah, I'm old - and it pretty much shaped me into the engineer nerd I am today.
[Waves hand] Computer programmer, and hobbyist 3d modeler and game designer due largely to Tron's influence. I'm amused that at the time Tron came out, CoCo Basic had a TRON command (trace on) that was used to find bugs in the code.

Tron was a loyal hero, his bravery was limitless. He will always remain in my mind, as a legend who never dies. Those who fought with all their pure desire for freedome, without giving up against the tiranny, they will always be remembered.

A third Tron movie would be great. Tron has been in my life since 1983 when I first rent it on VHS. It was the first movie I bought on VHS and the first movie I bought on Dvd. Disney should be aware of this.

Tron as Rinzler is legit scary with how emotionless and relentless he is.

Since I am not into computers or data hackers I was somewhat confused by TRON and Tron Legacy movie. But, the Tron Uprising anime produced by Disney was sensational. I especially liked the animation and design work for World of Tron. The action scenes phenomenal and character development was good. I just hate couldn't seem get enough audience keep series alive
I want to believe tron uprising season 2 is still out there, or if possible that they'll make the tron uprising movie because at least the script for that is complete.

As much I love tron the only thing that’s not lining up to me, is even though he got captured by his friend then saved by Cyrus, the only thing I’m trying find out is, when did he really become rinzler, was this way before he found out abt Beck or was there a duplicate of Tron, because in the end of tron uprising, programs are gunna know that Tron is alive and Clu’s forces are going after Argon, so when did tron become rinzler where and what time like someone explain

I've actually followed this since my youth, I love Tron not just because of the idea of a digital world but also because of what it teaches people.
Tron is a hero not just because he's a male if you can call him male, but because of his virtues selflessness sacrifice anything to keep programs from evil.
I thought it was cowardly of Flynn to not destroy his creation after he found out that he became a dictator on par with any human dictator who was trying to control everything.
He could have stopped him long ago but decided not to use his abilities as a User (God) in the Digital world I would have but I guess that wouldn't have made for a good story.

@CEM _CJ I'm going to have to rewatch the original, but it was always my understanding that the MCP was Dillinger's creation (or at least one that he 'appropiated'). Pretty sure it was what got Dillinger the promotion to his exceutive postion.
There was a line where Dillinger tried to (re)assert his authority over the MCP and the program tells Dillinger that he (MCP) had far surpassed his original programming. Also, if Dillinger didn't do as he commands certain documents/files would be released that would land Dillinger in trouble and get him fired from Encom, if not put in jail.

I loved both Tron and Tron Legacy (which happens to be my favorite Disney live action movie), and the interim animated series Tron Uprising. Considering that Joseph Kosinsky is no longer director with a Tron 3 project, I honestly am not really looking forward to Tron 3. Given Disney's current direction, I have a feeling that Tron 3 will be woke garbage.
