Still rocking my Humes & Berg snare case. Bought it in 2003. Countless tours, flights, trains, drops, 2x car accidents. Still solid, always protected the drum.
This guy’s was killer content!!! I was in the worse mood this morning,Watched this had me crying in laughter. The drop test at the end especially reminds me of some of the best moments on the David letterman show!!! Love y’all
@@mightyV444 I watched this last night. It was very funny!!! I've been fortunate enough to usually load my gear internally. I only had one gig where I had to transport my stuff in the back of a truck. In the rain in plastic bags, because I didn't have bags or cases.
And this is why I’m a loyal supporter of Humes & Berg cases. I have been using them for 25 years. Started with soft tuxedo bags and have various Enduro hard cases for touring. The only negative I have are the NEWER soft tuxedo gear bags. Too many stitch rips/holes/strap fails but other than that I’ll always recommend them first and foremost.
We'd driven all day to play a show at the Whiskey. Our gear was in the back of a an old Ford pickup. As we made a hard turn I looked back just in time to see my 10x14 tom go flying out and impacting a curb and bouncing a couple of times. The fibre case did its job and the drum was playable. A few weeks later in a studio it took awhile to figure out why it was un-tunable!!! Remounting one of the lugs fixed that problem. Good times.
@@rdavidr it's a classic maple in glacier blue you can probably find the full kit online but due to the fact that drums are so expensive I just settled for the snare
This gives off peak 2014 click bait nonesense and big time cold steel testing vibes. This is why we are here, you are for the people. The answers we need are here. I would have never known I couldnt drop my gear out of a moving vehicle while it was tied to the hitch, but now I know. You saved me one hell of a headache. Thanks for the great content as always!
This was as entertaining as it is informative. Y’all were brutal, but you should be! I have traveled the world as a full-time professional musician for 26+ years now, and I heavily rely on quality cases. I recently switched to Humes & Berg from SKB… and after seeing this, I’m glad I did! Thanks guys!
Once I forgot my snare on the roof of my car after rehearsal, it flew on the first turn and I remember watching the guitar player on the mirror as he manouvered to avoid running over it with his car. The snare survived with only minor damage to the bottom hoop, although the case was the soft type.
It's funny, but I woulda never thought of this content. Nice job guys. As the owner of a complete set of SKB protecting my VERY expensive DW custom lacquer kit... I'm happy that I bought them. However... bass drum cases always scare me. It would be cool to see how little (other than scratches) a bass drum drum case protects the drum within. Keep it up. I like these collaborations between the two of you.
I just bought a new Ludwig NeuSonic Butterscotch kit, and want to purchase my first set of quality hard cases. Thank you for this video. It's exactly what I needed, and answered all my questions!
I had a kit made out of marching band drums. It sounded awesome for how young I was, and how little money it cost. Maybe give that a try? It takes a while if you don't wanna spend any money. Yamaha Fieldcorp is a good place to start. I had 20x14 kick, 14x14 and 16x14 bass drums as toms sound pretty great. A marching snare will always sound like a marching snare tho. Unless you know something.
Lemme make you feel guilty 🤣🤣 What in the world did that poor little greeny snariii ever do to you, so sad, wish it were different times.. You three could have been the best buddies..... 🤣🤣😭😭😭
very cool ! I use skb roto mold for most of my kits. I did splurge on a set real flight case for my main kit . 1/2'' laminate. pen hardware. blue casters etc can prob park a truck on one lol
I know my stagg case works from a 4x12 cab height drop onto concrete. Bass players… they think they’re helping. I like how you didn’t bother testing soft bags. In my opinion they’re essentially a waste of money for a touring musician. They would not provide any help in any of these tests.
RIP snare... Lol I've always been a soft case (Ahead Armor and Protection Racket) guy since I've only played in-town gigs and my gear fits inside my vehicle, but I'm now looking into a set of Humes & Berg lol
Never heard of H & B before here in germany. I use Hardcase for my entire 11 different pieces of drums and SKB for the cymbals since ever. For the hardware I use aluminum boxes from the hardware store. Never had any damage to all my stuff with these cases. Just had to replace 1 strap-clip from the bass drum case 2 years before. Why do you guys repost this older video again ?
While I haven't put my H&B cases through these types of tests, I do have miles and years of wear on them and they have not let me down at all. Other than hard flight cases, I wouldn't use anything else.
Not sure if the new hardcase have liners but i had them about 15 years ago and they were great cases but felt they needed a soft liner to protect the lugs from scuffing.
What type of cases do you all use?
Go sub to Stephen! Or we'll steal your cymbal felts 😈
👉bit.ly/2AyH1Fb 👈
No! Not my cymbal felts!
you shoulda put marshmallows on top of the cases
sbk cases... got the second hand they work great for my DW's
Dodge Ram 1500. Back seat.
H and B Enduro. Bought some in the 90s. Haven't had to replace one yet. Almost 30 years. Fark I'm old
I've been meaning to ask you where my green snare went.....
What is wrong with you David?
Your wife told me you had too many drums, so I figured you wouldnt miss that one... 🤷♂

Even though these snaredrums are cheap, it still hurts 😂
Someone contact otter box and tell them to make drum cases if they haven’t already
I can hear in now, in a future build..." I have these tension rods from the snare i ran over..."
Sounds about right haha

Please play a full drum kit with snare drums ONLY 🙏
It's called a snom kit ( more or less ). Thomas Lang has a video playing one.... within the last year or two, I think.
That’s an incredible idea
Search for Chris Dave. He does that often
You guys separate are great, but every time you team up it's classic.
I have an SKB protecting my radio king. Glad to know it's in okay hands.
I have an SKB protecting a Ludwig classic maple snare and there are only 75 in the world 💀
dang, what snare is that?

It felt really painful for me when the green snare was repeatedly run over, almost cried damn, very BRUTAL.

That poor sweet innocent sparkly green drum 😢 😭 😞 😪
This is HUGELY helpful. I was certain the SKB would fare better than it did, and I was wrong!
Infomercial for Humes & Burg.
I like when the beard boys work together, its fun and we can see you really like eachother and its not pure work deal but also fun time.

Great tests! Truck tests were my favorite. Humes&Berg pretty impressive. I guess they are worth the money. Torch test was lit! Haha!
LMFAOOOOOOOOOOO this is the highlight of my day. I legit swear by the humes and bergs bro cases - i make sure to get them for every drum i own
🤣 Great show! You must really hate green sparkle wrap, lol.
I've always used the H&B Enduro pro cases, or SKB. never let me down 🤘🏼
I like how you forgot to check if the snares were ok by the first drop, and kept on yeeting them 😂🤣
We checked them after every test. They were basically un-touched after all the drops
@@rdavidr oh right it’s just that wasn’t shown in the first bit but also they were cheap so it didn’t matter 🙂

As a guitarist, it'd be nice if Humes and Berg made guitar cases.
Love the editing of the video 😂
🤣 Very entertaining! You two sure seemed to have a lot of fun too 🙂
Well if i'm ever in the market for a new snare drum case then Humes & Berg it is.
This video is comforting as someone who uses Humes and Berg
This Video brought me so much joy
Legit when you threw the snare off the deck I said, "oh no it's such a pretty colour"🤣
I love you video's
You guys are insane. Loved the video. Actually really good information from this.
This was super fun to watch! I will definitely revisit this vid before I buy cases.
Humes and Berg! Best cases around, for a great price! Quality
How does this video not have over 100k views?? This is one of the best ones you’ve done!!
I was looking into buying a case for my snare too! Thanks for the help!😂
prefect timing!
I love when you guys collab

I’d love to see a similar comparison for hard shell cymbal vaults!
Humes & Berg never disappoints me!
4 minutes in and… HUMES AND BERG, I have never heard of them and I’m now immediately sold.

Put that snare on ebay. Description: slightly used vintage snare drum 659.00$
Now I want to see you do that to the Dualist next! :-D
😂
Oh yes. The Dualist pedal deserves the flame thrower!
with the smile getting bigger and bigger on Stephens face as he introduced next test i expected him to say by the last one you will nuke them lol.
I don’t know why but watching that dude toss snare cases out of the back of that truck was hilarious.
Stephen's shoes are insane!

I was having so much fun, then felt some sadness for that little green snare drum at the end.
I'm so grateful for the invaluable service you both provide.
This is like a drummer’s combo of JerryRigEverything and WhistlinDiesel
we should have broke out the excavator for the crush test...
Now your next video should be you Frankensteining that snare back together using as much of the original snare as you can ... lots of duct tape!
Do cymbal cases next!
This is a direct representation of the average use of a middle school snare
The bossanova at the end xdddd
New wrap and that snare be good as new!
I been using the same set of Hardcase cases for 25 years.
RIP snare... Lol I've always been a soft case (Ahead Armor and Protection Racket) guy since I've only played in-town gigs and my gear fits inside my vehicle, but I'm now looking into a set of Humes & Berg lol
fire resistant drum cases are important for every Spinal Tap tour
I felt bad for the snare alone test because you had an Evans batter head on it. A Remo would have been more appropriate 😝
No snare drums were harmed in the making of this video, except for the one at the end. Please do not mistreat your snares at home.
One time you should run over a snare and between each pass play the snare . YOu could find a cool sound :)..Love your work !
It was a mostly peaceful drum case test.
The video no one asked for but everyone needed
LETS GO!! 💯🥁
“…I’m Dave!” “…I’m Stephen!” “WELCOME TO JACKASS!” (Theme plays over montage of snare drum’s misfortunes…)

Hi fellas- did you consider a Ludwig UFO case from yore?
COMING NEXT: rdavidr repairs that snare drum 😁
Soft bags next lol
Was that a Tesla flame thrower? Lol
We should have just bought a Tesla, threw the cases in, then waited for the battery to explode. That would have been a better test lol
I'm surprised it took so many run-overs to make it stop being in one piece
Quality.Content!
Now do some tests with a bigger surface area, like a bass drum case. Also Ranger vs. Snare. Ranger, built Ford Tough! Lol
I'd like to see a drum bag comparison. Not as extreme obviously.
