I have often thought that drumming is just hitting stuff with sticks and it shouldn't be so complicated and expensive... I think you really captured that.
What I like about rdavidr is how he made me change the way I saw drums and drumming. He kinda brought my diy side back and I completely revolutionized the way I play and understand my drums.
Love it. David is great. From dumpster diving to refinishing to ebay hunting etc. His channel is a literal drum workshop. It's cool you guys got him in here seriously.
Great video. It’s a lot of fun experimenting. Here are a few I’ve tried that sound great (imo): -Aluminum water bottles (opened, several lined up glued to a wood board) -Cookie tin with a little foam taped to the inside -An iPhone/smartphone box (original packaging), filled with dried beans or legos -PVC piping (add an elbow or two and diameter adapters for larger sizes) -Lid to a small charcoal bbq (12-14”)
Wow, I've got the same abacus, I've never thought I could use it as shaker. I'll start to use it as soon as I learn to count to 100. Cool video! My man rdavidr is a very good drummer, listener and an absolutely high skilled crafter.
That last one he played reminds me of these drumsticks I had back in the day that were ribbed for your pleasure. I’d play it the same way on the rims, pretty cool.
I know it's only drum hacks, but fingers get chopped off and things fly into eyeballs, but you won't find that at the Thrifty store. I used to use bench buffing grinder on cymbals, it would get dangerous!
Yo, no joke I thought that dude was carrying a kid in that bag at 0:55 😯
Lmao Same
Oh dang
rdavidr same I was looking through the comments trying to find this exact comment
Me too 😂😂😂😂
Its not a kid, its just a jacket and a cap xD
I see RdavidR I press like!
Saame!
The abacus had me in stitches. Drummers already get teased enough as it is, pulling that out at a gig would be hilarious.
We're geniuses. But no one ever understands. Especially not lead guitarists!
these are items to be pulled out for studio recordings, IMHO
The homie made it on drumeo! Congrats dave
No one:
rdavidr: "Who woulda thought a dog bowl on a floor tom taped to a door handle plate would sound like that?"
😂
rdavidr thats a brand new sentence right there
That’s just insane
I never thought that I would see you on Drumeo
David has one of the most interesting and unique drum related youtube channels ever.
Lololol if I was an employee there, I would be like,"WTF is that guy doing?"
Basi C-Vega lol
Maybe they’re used to it by now!
Is there white lithium grease involved? Else i won’t approve
Thats coming later ;)
🤣🤣
Gotta love dave🥁

You've made it, breathtaking move David!
This is by far my favorite drumeo vid yet. Love Dave's stuff.
10:26 - when you select a League of Legends Character and hit confirm
It's cool to see so much personality out of David. You don't see that much of his personality in his own videos although they are still great videos.
Love it. David is great. From dumpster diving to refinishing to ebay hunting etc. His channel is a literal drum workshop. It's cool you guys got him in here seriously.
Those bowls would sound good with some *_PLATE_* reverb on...
Haha you got it!
Congrats David on making it to Drumeo! Be proud about yourself and keep up the good work!

RdavidR. Coolest YT personality of 2019. Hands down.
1:50 a little pricey... haha. Enjoyed it David!
Thanks man!
I have never seen him on this good cam quality! Great! Now i can study his beard!

I been doing this for years! So awesome to see David on here (congrats!) spreading the idea of unique creative sounds from the thrift! :)
13:10 my mind went straight to the Paiste Rude cymbal lineup 😂 Worth about the same in my books

Make shirts that say "What cool is that?"
Then the image is a tee shirt on a piano.
Awesome video Dave. You're always surprising everyone with cool new inexpensive sounds. Cheers
What the hell is going on with this drum mix??
Phase issue on the bass drum mics? Sounds awkward
Kick wayyyy too loud
Boy is in da House! 🔥
I am actually genuinely proud that David is on Drumeo! You go, man!
Zildjian has a ZilBell for like $100....or get a $3 bowl 👍🏻
or cut out the bell of a cracked cymbal, or cheap ride.
It’ll be a ZilBowl
Only difference, the bowl will sound better
I love rDavidr: his channel has taught me so much about tuning, maintenance, and being creative with your kit!
Love you Dave, this is hands down the spiciest video in drumeo
Thanks! I'm still a beginner & without a proper kit! This gives me ideas... Loving the 'accident' with the bowl bouncing around on the tom!
11:04 doin' some 360's
Rdavidr is always thinking outside the box!
David, you have the courage to do what i won't!
That last one he played reminds me of these drumsticks I had back in the day that were ribbed for your pleasure. I’d play it the same way on the rims, pretty cool.
david be like: oh look oxygen that might sound lit 🔥
Love this David! So creative!
Can't get over the abacus groove ahah so cool!
Yeah, this is cool, I'm going to look for stuff to hit on. Bowls, handles, females.
Hey dude, watch your mouth. What did bowls or handles ever do to you?
You definitely are crafty
Ruined my shopping now
Gonna take forever
rdavidr, the only person on this earth who would exchange the best cymbals in the world for some 3$ metal bowls 😂
I love how this turned more into a prop comedy sketch. Love rDavidr! Fellow RVA!
I have been waiting for this day all my life!
rdavidr at Drumeo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RDavidR is by far my favorite youtube drum guy
Yesssssssss Yessssssssssss Yessssssssss
Finally!
Best. Drumdude. Ever.
that snare sounds absolutely amazing.
I saw the title and thought, he's gonna get a kids drum kit discarded at the Salvation Army and play it.
This was actually even better.
Props on adding reverb to the abacus/bowl setup!
David, you’re my hero!
I wasn't expecting this on Drumeo but woow 8:18 sounded great!!
David is the man! such great content
David Raouf He is a genius
i love videos like this!!! nice Drumeo!! and having david on is perfect!!
This makes me think of Gene Hoglan playing in Death with the propeller 'splash'
Rdavidr love you bro!
metal pot lids, metal and glass bowls, metal cans and circular saw blades usually have nice sounds
in fact, i'm going to add a saw blade to the kit tomorrow-- eureka!
Rdavidr is the man.
The bowls sound FAB!
Nice man moving on up. You have earned it David
that gator on a kick pedal or highhat stand floppin around might sound sick
This is the year of’ crazy sounds’ out of a drum set...nice!
I've acquired Gretsch, Slingerland and Rogers tidbits at Thrift Stores and Flea Markets.
This is funny but I am impress of his creativity.
Love Dave. Awesome vid
I know it's only drum hacks, but fingers get chopped off and things fly into eyeballs, but you won't find that at the Thrifty store. I used to use bench buffing grinder on cymbals, it would get dangerous!
The only thing that MIGHT have worked was the door handle plate. That had a cool vibe
David Raouf on Drumeo wow nice :)
You could attach the Abakus to the hihat as awsome kind of shaker. 🧮
Rdavidr is the man!!
YES you made it dav!
Holy smokes! Rdavidr at drumeo ! Super!!!!!
Ah, David. Its so good to see you on drumeo. You're moving on up, kid.
Love this guy!
CONGRATS DAVE!!!!!!!
The bowl groove was honestly cool
David youre awesome
I see rdavidr and immediately upvote
that "scraper beat" sounds like a cartoon character sneaking up 🤣
Great for industrial loops
Awesome video!!
Those have got to be the driest crashes I’ve ever heard 😂
That was definitely Jared with the dad “incredibowl” joke.
Yess! He's on Drumeo!
Bout time we got David on Drumeo
Some older Metal Ice Trays (from a household Freezer) have a "Link" Divider insert that makes a good "Scratcher" sound.
Bruh you god my boi David. Epic. 😎
Yaaaaasssss rdavidr
Very cool, thx👍🏻
I love you david! ❤
Awesome vid!
Givin drumeo that class, nice
Weird metal bowls??... What do.. AH! 6/8 latin! Perfect!
I'm gonna pop some tags
Only got twenty dollars in my pocket
