There's no way Ukraine won't make it. Most people watching won't have heard the original version so that's not gonna be an issue. And while their style isn't for everyone, the sound is very catchy and their staging has blown everyone away. I understand your reasoning though.
Everybody is saying that Romania will not qualify after their first rehearsal. Chill down, it was just a rehearsal, we all know she can sing very well, the staging may look a little messy, but on the camera it will look amazing. I have all my faith in her. She will surprise us! Good luck! ❤️

@Sir Stevia Why not? Its the only ballad for the young demographic. Belgium and Slovenia are very different from it and the other female singers are singing dance songs. I think Romania will qualify with ease, if she improves her singing and some jury support as well. We may get Belgium 2017. Everyone after the first rehearsal started doubting Blanche that will qualify and in the end she not only did that, but finished top 5 in the final.

So even next year, 2022 Eurovision's entry from Australia will have to be another tele-show insert... Current reality of the obvious unfortunately... Canada is in a similar situation. CItizen's can get back in but otherwise the border has been and will be shut for a while yet... Especially with low vaccine rates (only from a lack of supply though) until this week... I think even as of now Canada has surpassed the per capita dose rate of vaccines compared to the USA despite a 4-month delay in rollout... Love from Canada!

Hello to anyone who is confused about why the Australian 🇦🇺 entry Montaigne is not at Rotterdam! In Australia right now we are NOT allowed to leave the country without getting a government exemption, and they are very strict about who they give them to. This is because Australia doesn’t have any COVID-19, so the government doesn’t let anyone leave (so no one can bring it back in again). The levels of risk assessment the Australian broadcaster had to go through before making the decision to even apply were super intense, and ultimately it was clear they weren’t going to be able to support an application. Montaigne really wanted to be there and of course we all want her there too, but she literally can’t get on a plane (just like none of us can - we’re all stuck here). We really hope you enjoy her song anyway and please consider voting if you like it!! 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Romania is kinda on the fence for me, cuz in the videoclip her vocals are great but what ive seen from the rehearsals, same with Ireland, is that theyre a bit weak

Efendi back with Mata Hari which is a perfect companion piece to Cleopatra from last year. I even love the song call back in the lyrics... And of this group it's a battle between Ireland and Israel. Ireland is epic with the drums, guitars, tambourine and synths but Israel has that final whistle note that brings down the house like the "Spirit Note" from Husavik! Or it SHOULD if the artist can deliver... So yeah...

Did she really say Sweden won’t qualify? Has she watched Eurovision in the last 5 years? Sweden could qualify with the jury vote alone at this point. And Ukraine always qualify and this won’t be the year that their record breaks.
That may be true but nothing is certain! As they aren’t one of the Big Five, they have to go through the Semi Final and so face potential elimination. Even Charlotte Pirelli had to be saved by a jury ‘Wildcard’ back in 2008. I don’t think that Wildcard option exists now. We shall see.

I don't think Norway will qualify and I strongly hope they will stay in the SF. . This will not get much jury votes or televotes and after what they did on Norwegian TV they don't have to expect any votes from Western Europe. Making a complete fool of Hooverphonic, Lesley Roy and some other artists in that SF on TV, asking people not to vote for them is the lowest thing ever seen (video's are on youtube). Romania will be saved by televoting. I am sure she will qualify. Sweden I see them staying in the SF. Song is nothing special, and even in the music video you can hear that Tusse's vocals aren't always on point. They will not be ranked high by juries and televoting will disqualify them.

When I look at your possible NQ, I think we agree with Sweden, Norway(finally, someone said it, the most overrated song), Macedonia and Australia. Instead of Ireland and Slovenia which are my 9 and 10, I have as a NQ Belgium(but that is because maybe I dont like this type of music) and then Israel or Azerbaijan but probably Azerbaijan(but I know it is going to be a qualifier, but it isnt my fav)

Ukraine, from the one of the best Eurovision entry ever to this version. Incredible how their ruined perfect song. I understand time limitation but couldn't they just make original shorter? I hope they will not qualify and thus learn lesson. Tic-Toc Croatia the strongest one in 1st semi final in my opinion
The structure of the revamped version is much more "televote" friendly, and with their staging and being 2nd last I can doing very well with the televote, and there are enough interesting technical elements - pace progression and layering of sounds - for a mid table position with the jury.
Australia did desperately want to go, don't think they just tossed it in! Our rules about 14 day mandatory medi-hotel quarantine for pretty much every country besides New Zealand meant it would be difficult financially for SBS to fund an entire team of Aussies to travel AND return. Australia knows the decision probably will cost them, but the country is pretty much COVID free for a reason.
I think that Lithuania, Russia, Sweden, Cyprus, Croatia, Belgium, Israel, Romania, Azerbaijan and Malta will qualify. Ireland and Ukraine on the fence. Slovenia, Australia, North Macedonia, Norway will not qualify for sure. But we will see

Why do those six countries get to go straight to the finals? It is discriminatory towards other participants, not to mention that they often have songs that are not very nice either.
In past years Sweden has qualified because of both the jury and people. Sweden has had lower score by the people than by the jury but it has been qualifying by them both I think

I am not sure about Ukraine, but you could be totally right. This is a folk dance track, I honestly totally love it and this would be perfect for a dance festival, but I don't see the older generation voting for it or I doubt it will get much juryvotes. Maybe their neighbors will save them. I could see Ukraine qualifying instead of Croatia or Israel who are way to simular imo. I think only one of them will qualify People think that Sweden is a sure qualifier, but I don't think so this year. I said this serveral times before that I see them failing this year. I don't like the song, but i also struggle with his vocals, I feel that even in the music video, they aren't always on point. Respect for him as an artist, but I simply don't feel it. I don't see this getting high jury votes, not in this SF, and we know they will not get much televotes. Norway, I simply can't stand this song, it feels like 10 minutes and I gave it serveral tries but the more I listened the more I disliked it. I can't imagine juries ranking this high, and I also see this failing badly with televoting. Australia: What Mountaigne does vocally is really impressive, not many artists can pull this off, but this is way too much in one song. That's why people call it a mess. I don't think Australia has a chance this year. Ireland: I have been harsh on this one, because a lot of Irish said that this is their strongest entry since a long time, and I strongly disagree with that. Together was such a beautiful song, (my 4th) and if he wasn't so stressed during the finals, he would have been in the top 5. There is something that irritates me about this song and her vocals many of my friends share the same opinion, this doesn't come close to together, that was a masterpiece.
Fun fact : If Malta wins Eurovision 2021 and Sweden doesnt qualify that means that the rejected song to not compete in Melodifestivalen 2021 wins over the most voted Melodifestivalen winner ever. Ouch

I don't think Norway will qualify and I strongly hope they will stay in the SF. . This will not get much jury votes or televotes and after what they did on Norwegian TV they don't have to expect any votes from Western Europe. Making a complete fool of Hooverphonic, Lesley Roy and some other artists in that SF on TV, asking people not to vote for them is the lowest thing ever seen (video's are on youtube).
Romania will be saved by televoting. I am sure she will qualify.
Sweden I see them staying in the SF. Song is nothing special, and even in the music video you can hear that Tusse's vocals aren't always on point. They will not be ranked high by juries and televoting will disqualify them.

When I look at your possible NQ, I think we agree with Sweden, Norway(finally, someone said it, the most overrated song), Macedonia and Australia. Instead of Ireland and Slovenia which are my 9 and 10, I have as a NQ Belgium(but that is because maybe I dont like this type of music) and then Israel or Azerbaijan but probably Azerbaijan(but I know it is going to be a qualifier, but it isnt my fav)

I respect your opinion on who's gonna stay and go, but the issue is that you had predicted 8 countries to go through and 8 countries to go home, when there should be 10 countries going through :)
Ukraine, from the one of the best Eurovision entry ever to this version. Incredible how their ruined perfect song. I understand time limitation but couldn't they just make original shorter? I hope they will not qualify and thus learn lesson. Tic-Toc Croatia the strongest one in 1st semi final in my opinion

The structure of the revamped version is much more "televote" friendly, and with their staging and being 2nd last I can doing very well with the televote, and there are enough interesting technical elements - pace progression and layering of sounds - for a mid table position with the jury.
The original version of Shum was soooooo repetitive. This one is much more interesting and creative

Australia did desperately want to go, don't think they just tossed it in! Our rules about 14 day mandatory medi-hotel quarantine for pretty much every country besides New Zealand meant it would be difficult financially for SBS to fund an entire team of Aussies to travel AND return. Australia knows the decision probably will cost them, but the country is pretty much COVID free for a reason.

In past years Sweden has qualified because of both the jury and people. Sweden has had lower score by the people than by the jury but it has been qualifying by them both I think

I am not sure about Ukraine, but you could be totally right. This is a folk dance track, I honestly totally love it and this would be perfect for a dance festival, but I don't see the older generation voting for it or I doubt it will get much juryvotes. Maybe their neighbors will save them. I could see Ukraine qualifying instead of Croatia or Israel who are way to simular imo. I think only one of them will qualify
People think that Sweden is a sure qualifier, but I don't think so this year. I said this serveral times before that I see them failing this year. I don't like the song, but i also struggle with his vocals, I feel that even in the music video, they aren't always on point. Respect for him as an artist, but I simply don't feel it. I don't see this getting high jury votes, not in this SF, and we know they will not get much televotes.
Norway, I simply can't stand this song, it feels like 10 minutes and I gave it serveral tries but the more I listened the more I disliked it. I can't imagine juries ranking this high, and I also see this failing badly with televoting.
Australia: What Mountaigne does vocally is really impressive, not many artists can pull this off, but this is way too much in one song. That's why people call it a mess. I don't think Australia has a chance this year.
Ireland: I have been harsh on this one, because a lot of Irish said that this is their strongest entry since a long time, and I strongly disagree with that. Together was such a beautiful song, (my 4th) and if he wasn't so stressed during the finals, he would have been in the top 5. There is something that irritates me about this song and her vocals many of my friends share the same opinion, this doesn't come close to together, that was a masterpiece.
