this is why i started powerlifting coz i absolutely hate eating. i think its a chore, and its expensive asf to bulk. once i got tired of eating i just maintained and just switched to training the powerlifts. i've added over 100kg in my total in the year 2023 but just hovering around the same weight. feels great imo.

Hey Max, love the videos! Should bulking be differently structured for females (different calorie surplus, ideal body fat %, duration, etc.) or is it essentially the same as it is for guys?
The caloric surplus can be the same if you're talking in percentages. Guys should bulk to 20% at max, and cut down to 10% for a healthy and lean physique. While girls can bulk until they get up to 30% bf, and when cutting, 18% is extremely lean already

First off big follower of you max, keep up the great work. What app do you use to track your weight/progress, and any tips for bulking (I’m at 125 pounds right now and I’m 15, been going to the gym consistently for 3 months and also started 3 months)
You don’t need to track calories for bulking in my opinion.
Truthfully it’s calories vs calories out. Add slightly dirty foods and healthy fats so you can bulk up
At the steer of my bulk I started at 130 pounds and so far I’m 150 now 🤝
Do you do any glute specific exercises on leg day? Like hip thrusts or machines that simulate that movement? Been wondering if I should keep them in my routine or not

Is failure essential for muscle growth. Some sources say that going to failure results in too much fatigue for the amount of stimulus. Should I leave 1-2 reps in the tank, go to failure, or a combination of both?
Right now I do 1-3 sets per exercise, and go to failure on the last set.
Based on your advice on not benching would you recommend using a smiths machine?

Hey max. When i do some workouts, i do it till faliure. Then for the next set, i lower the weight and do it till failure. But the number of reps i did for the first set remains same for the second set. Is that fine? Is it also fine if the number of reps is greater(1-2 more reps) than the first set? I just joined gym also. Hope you answer my query. Thanks.
Is it true that the big compound movements like Squat,Barbell Bench press,Deadlifts and Barbell OHP build more strength than machines even if it's the same rep range?

As long as you're not loading heavy weight or doing any high intensity. Cus if you do,you might get injured. There is a reason,after all,why your muscles are sore. So better just take a rest day or train a different group of muscles.

He just uses his notes app, but workout tracking apps are good for showing how far you’ve come.

Can you still build the same amount of muscle if you exercise selection for both push/pull days are the exact same or a couple are the same? Or should they be different variations for maximum muscle growth?
Variation is more so for avoiding overuse of movements that lead to injury or tbh just boredom

What are the benefits to working within the low rep range compared to 12-15?
Im most cases the last 5 reps where it really becomes fucking heavy are the ones that make sure your muscle grows. Why would u reach that with 12-15 reps and maybe get fatigued by another muscle like forearms when your hitting your back. Instead of that just stick to 6-10 reps and reach that goal faster without something like fatigued fore arms be in your way. I tried to explain it the best way i could hahah, hope this helps.

Seated leg curl is actually even better than lying leg curl, more stretch in the hamstring

Please help!! So my maintenance calories is 3600 and rn I’m eating 2300 calories a day trying to cut in like 25% body fat and need to cut I’ve never been around 12% that is my goal.
