In this day and age of remakes, I honestly can't believe someone hasn't targeted REMO WILLIAMS. It's a GREAT movie with lots of action and plenty of quips between Remo and Chun.
The movie -- and this pilot -- SUCKED. I am a HUGE fan of the book series on which they were VERY LOOSELY based and I am disgusted with how poorly they were handled! Chiun looks and sounds NOTHING like he is described in the books! Remo's origin in the movie was totally screwed up. His name was ALWAYS Remo Williams, never Sam Makin, he was a cop from Newark, New Jersey, not New York, and he was framed for a murder he didn't commit and sentenced to the electric chair, but his death was faked. But, giving credit where credit is due, at least in this pilot episode, Harold W. Smith looks a little bit more accurate to the books.
Probably my most favorite line in the book series-"Thank you for letting me bask in the radiance of your awesome magnificence." (or something similar to that.)
I read all the books. Chun is badass. Ive been training martial arts since 1967. Got in trouble at 18 did 30 days on work release. Had all the time to read when locked down. Help me train in my cell. Plus a fellow student of my school was on my mod as well. We would spar in the walkway. Guards always talk shit about our sparring. Untill Shorty my fellow student toss a 300 lb guard on the floor less then 30 second due to a bet the guard made. When he hit the floor. The whole place shook. The whole jail went crazy. My last time in jail. But still training 50 years later.
This would make a fun modernized remake, especially if you have Master Chiun also complaining about the evils of modern tech & social media yet occasionally being caught using a smart phone.
Well at least they retained the score, bit it does sound like they libraries the film score and just reused it for the pilot at the very least. I think McDowell does a fine job, and Meek is just smarmy enough.
No, the pilot of a show that was never aired about the character of Remo Williams, already played by Fred Ward in a fantastic 80's movie of the same name. But I discovered Jeff Meek in shows like Mortal Kombat and Raven. Great shows!!!!
@@dartharaneus67 yeah the actor reminded me of the actor who was the main actor in The Raven, definitely another great show, that is for sure, Thank you very much 😊
Agreed! I laughed my ass off when I saw that Wilford Brimley was portraying Harold W Smith! He is specifically described in the books as being "gaunt," not a fat ass.

I think we must emerge from our current dark age of woke ideology before we can have these characters back.

This was absolutely beautiful! Thank you so much for keeping the Dead Night Tiger alive!!
I love Remo and Chiun! Truly brilliant archetypes and I also can't figure out why they haven't mined this for a remake.
Saw this when it was aired and I became excited at the possibility of a new series.
Remo Williams the prophecy is came out August 15th,1988!
That dude is definitely not, remo... RIP Fred... I guess all we got is the only film..

he can use a SMARTPHONE since most are made in Korea
@@AttackCop He would probably say "Samsung is better than iPhone" to Remo
I have all 154 books in the series,"the Destroyer" is awesome.I was shocked to find this, had no clue this existed "that's the biz sweetheart"
I am created Shiva, the Destroyer, death, the shatterer of worlds. The dead night tiger made whole by the Master of Sinanju.
who is this dog meat that stands before me.
we could've had a series and see Mr Gordons the android. Dang
Funny eye of Tigger 🎉😂❤
That was delightful!
Prophecy is a lousy plot device (and not even necessary for this plot) but oh my, what a wonderful villain!
I have never heard of a master of sinanju named BIG MAC!!! Hahahahahah

Remo Williams The Adventure Begins. Where is the sequel?!?
This IS the sequel. The original came out in 1985, with Fred Ward. And like most sequels, this can't measure up to the first one.
At 240p, this is fuzzier than a brand-new Teddy Bear! I can't watch it...
more episodes?? thnks! or only 1x0 pilot?
Needs more Fred Ward.
I agree. Fred was it.
SORRY THAT THERE IS NO CONTINUED!

@@gaviny-w3569 Yep, he was indeed the main actor in Raven (Jeffrey "Jeff" Meek).
@@dartharaneus67 thank you very much for the update, really awesome serious too , thank you very much 👍😄

I found the sun source of all things , Jesus of Nazareth.. by Him Ive become a Son of God...not even Chiun is in the shadow of Gods Sons.
Steven Elliot was better suited to play Harold W. Smith than Wilfred Brimley.
