I feel like his interactions with Shaggy were handled perfectly. It's how many real people interact with their pets, yet you can still see elements of how he was in the cartoons (i.e. Loves food, and is rather cowardly).
I had no idea this existed! Been a lifelong Scooby-Doo fan! This episode was phenomenal, the cast was amazing, and the plot is intriguing! Looking forward to seeing more! Keep it up y’all!

This was stupid fresh!
As someone born in 1964, I've been watching (and a fan of) Scooby-Doo in all it's formats since it first started airing. This... was... brilliant... Scooby as a retired police dog just makes so much sense... and with Shaggy as the son of the sheriff, automatically makes you aware how they must have met up. Best Fred of *any* of the series... Starting with him and Velma first was smart, too... Gave a chance for her to be a feature, and not just treated as the 'nerd girl'. Having Daphne be the 'klutz' on purpose was kind of neat, considering how she's often treated in the series. I am so invested in this show, that I'm headed over to Indiegogo to help continue it!
Likewise, though born in 1976. My favourite, was Scooby Doo and the headless horseman

This is legit better than the original by far.
They can't keep making it. It's a own property
This is 100,000 million percent better than the Velma spin off
thank you! :)
And this comment was 3 months ago and turns out you are right
I agree mostly because I don't like those shows, they're trash
can you compare the two
one of these (this) has great value both objective and subjective, the other one (Velma) is a completely soulless and deplorable piece of junk with no respect to the source material, no dog, no real friendly relations between the cast (why? why? why?), etc
I agree but that bar isnt too high to jump over
I am LIVING for the Fred Velma friendship right now. If all the friendships end up being as interesting and well developed as the one they started on, this show is going to be amazing!!!!
Yeah, that was really done well!
I LOVE THAT THE HEX GIRLS WERE INCLUDED i really love this spin on it being much more dark and actually scary!!!!
Same here
I find it incredible that this project has more thought, effort, passion and respect for the Scooby Doo franchise than the Velma show. Keep up the great work, can’t wait for episode 2!
I’ve been waiting for the Velma comments
Honestly! Velma is a disgrace compared to this one.
My thoughts exactly!
When are more episodes are gonna drop ?
Is that really incredible though? From what I've heard surpassing Velma in passion, respect, etc. should be pretty easy. Kind of a given actually...
I don't mean to sound out of my depth or pretentious but Fred's acting style is giving me major Jimmy Dean vibes and I can't escape it
and Velma is a unique kind of awkward that just works and makes her dialogue more believable
Shaggy having the cop dad and Scooby being a retired K9? genius.. adds a whole nother element to him being a stoner
Daphne leaning into that popular girl trope is so fun to see too I feel like I've been waiting for that, I love this redemption arc
and then the HEX GIRLS?? And you got Kiera Please to play Dusk??? I'm floored!! I totally underestimated this adaptation I am just so impressed
The elements are from various Scooby-Doo show and implemented with an air of freshness and originality. The whole thing about Shaggy's dad being a cop has been present since A Pup Named Scooby-Doo

I just love how there is not a single frame wasted. Quick paced, straight to the point, pact with action, emotion and amazing story telling. I’m officially obsessed with this.
the show is not called scooby doo, but rather a "Mystery Inc." thus this is not centered around Scooby but still has him as a companion which is a nice touch, even if he can't talk.
Maybe you just can’t hear him.
i though it was a reference to the 2013 show which yeah best show of the franchise

Where can I watch the whole series ( live action ) ? Is it streaming somewhere ?
I love that Fred and Velma start out as friends first out of everyone and the way he covered her when they summon the mine was proof he sees her as important enough to get his own life to defend her.
Really- it's THE highlight of this episode for me. And it's sweet how that was the focus before a crush with Daphne. I really love the idea of Fred and Velma having a substantial bond that goes beyond them both being the brains of the outfit in different but equally profound ways. This is how you flesh out personalities and relationships between characters to enhance a storyline and its moral themes. ABSOLUTE PERFECTION.
Props to you for getting in an actual dog for Scooby and not going for CGI.
@@Temporal_Assassin I totally get where you’re coming from. I grew up on the classics, although I watched them on dvd not first airing lol. But I think this will be an interesting new take, since the bad guys will be actual monsters and such. I guess I also just kind of relate to Shaggy talking to Scooby even though he can’t talk cause I do it to my dog and cat all the time.
They dont have the money
you think these people have the budget for cgi?
I’d like to see Scooby make dog noises and have Shaggy totally understand and interpret for him.
@@Gabonic64 They can still use the real dog and edit the mouth moving like Super Buddies or Beverly Hills. Hell I wouldn't care if they didn't edit the mouth at all I need scooby doo😭😭
You can tell passionate people made this show. The amount of easter eggs is insane! Especially Velma bringing up about Ben Ravencroft. Having the Hex Girls work for Vincent Van Ghoul is just awesome.

How is it that fans that can make passionate projects uploaded on RUclips are much more worth watching and better than big budget studios with professionals, experienced actors and writers, editors, etc. can't do better and always think that goofiness is what the kids these days like?
This is why i love RUclips. Small creator can take what seems like a fanfic and make this award worthy show, yet Hollywood pumps out a show with big names attached and it feels like a YTP sketch
Pedowood is dead.
There's clear love for the original Scooby-Doo and the gang we all know and love. Plus these guys actually feel like the characters while bringing something new to the formula with a more "mature" nature. I really hope we get more because this is incredible!
That Velma show obviously got a lot of ideas from this pilot, but changed it, but there's a youtuber called Britney Reacts, who I was watching react to the Velma show and she reacted to this, and yeah I think their lazy writing stole some ideas from this pilot and switched up characters and all this and that but, have a look, if anyone agrees comment
It is clear the writers knew the source material and respected it as they write their story. While this is THEIR story, they are using the threads of the existing universe and it is a wonderful adaptation. I cannot wait for more episodes!
My sister is a huge Scooby Doo fan and I cant wait to show her this. At first I thought this was an actual official show and not a fan project. The jokes were on point, Fred is an actual character, the drama is interesting, and having Scooby not talk but Shaggy still talk to him the same is a genius way to keep them the same but not end up too silly. I can only hope that future episodes come out and that Fred gets a love of traps.
So it’s not official

This is how "more mature" adaptation of Scooby-Doo is supposed to be done. Unlike whatever Mindy Kaling is making now. Kudos to the creators of this show.
Yeah you really can tell that the people making this care about what they're making everything is so interconnected the hex girls the 13 ghosts van ghoul, my one gripe is how shallow Daphne is at the beginning but she does start to develop through the episode and I'm sure this will be fixed as the series goes on and the characters develop more
I can't say yet if it is better then Mystery Incorporated animated TV series (best adaptation ever made), but it absolutely should be regular TV series. Unfortunately HB suck.
@Wp9999 hey. I'm guessing she was meant to be annoyingly shallow, so her development to the end is contrasted, so it's can actually be called development. That in my book is a good way to handle it.
@@Wp-jv5ed Personally I think they are portraying someone who's controlled by their mothers insecurities. Her mom literally immediately fat shamed her about wanting frnech toast. I love the depth they have already given to each character and I hope we can get more of this great show soon.

This isn't just Riverdale with a dog. I really liked the inclusion of Harvey Birdman, The Hex Girls, and Vincent van Ghoul. And the 13 Pillars is a clear reference to The 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo." They made a gritty Scooby show without making it hateful and vulgar.

They couldn’t offered to make another ep they need more people to sponsor the second ep
The sheer amount of references in this episode is actually insane! I've decided to make a list of the ones I saw.
1) Shaggy's dad being a cop as he was in an episode of one of the early series.
2) The dealer's joy juice is a reference to Flim-Flam's lotsa luck joy juice from 13 ghosts. The dealer also wears a yellow hoodie, like Flim-Flams yellow hooded jumpsuit.
3) The book Fred and Velma find in the bookstore resembles Sarah Ravencroft's spell book from witches ghost and the chest of demons from 13 ghosts.
4) Velma references Jonothan Jacobo as being haunted by the pterodactyl ghost. Jonathan Jacobo was the original pterodactyl ghost in monsters unleashed.
5) Velma also references Ben Ravencroft, a character from witches ghost.
6) The hex girls. This goes without saying.
7) The hex girls sing the song 'hex girl', from witches ghost. Again this is obvious. (Also the actresses absolutely nail the song!)
8) The 13 pillars Velma mentions are likely a reference to the 13 ghosts of Scooby Doo.
9) Fred deciding to split up with Velma just as he does in most Scooby Doo media (also they make a great duo in this)
10) Miner 49er is a classic scooby doo where are you! villain. Another obvious one.
11) Shaggy making a giant, multilayered sandwich toward the end of the episode.
12) Thorn speaks of 'high priest Van Ghoul', a reference to Vincent Van Ghoul from 13 ghosts. (Also the person on the phone to Velma's mother sounds somewhat like Vincent Price... coincident?)
13) The black knight ghosts brief cameo at the end.
14) As suggested, his lawyer is Harvey Birdman (how did I even miss that?...)
Underrated Comment
Crazy underrated comment. To me, you've won because nobody could pay attention like you could!
Of all things to go over my head...it didn't click to me when Fred said they should split up lmao. Also, to add to your reference list, Fred's lawyer was Harvey Birdman.

It’s because she grew up in that lifestyle of the rich kid. It’s like the live action show is based off of the animated Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated series. Trust me, I really liked the cartoon series and Daphne and Fred are the best couple. I can even relate to the live action characters, especially Fred.
to be fair young Daphne used to be like yeah I am a Blake all the time
They ripped that plot straight from riverdale
We were never in school. We were always in the van driving thru the repeating forests or solving a mystery and shaking a leg at a party or bonfire!..
Really love Scooby Doo wish for more episodes. The actors playing the gang are great.
I was beginning to worry that this would never become a thing, but the 2 year wait was worth it! As someone who's been a Scooby-Doo fan for as long as they can remember, this is a concept I've always wanted to see and it works so well! I can't wait to see more!
I am FULLY DOWN for this to be a full series. The amount of love and research that went into this was incredible. You guys took elements from every corner of the franchise and made something that isn't tacky or forced, but something that deserves a shot. And what a hell of a shot this would be.
Right amazing amazed job can't wait fr ep 2

@@ScoobyShotU Uh, no. Episode 2 is still in production now. The Indigogo says May 2023
I loved all the references for past Scooby cartoons like the hex girls and jacob Jacova
The Easter eggs were fire. The lawyer being Harvey Birdman 😂
This is hands down the best depiction of Fred's character I've ever seen. And the casting is better than anything Hollywood has produced since the original live action Scooby Films
Don't you think the characters look a little too old for high school kids?
@@19Rena96 You share my sentiments.
@@19Rena96 Thank you! Daphne looks damn near 40.
I dunno, Freddy Prince Jr.'s portrayal will always have a special place in my heart. 😊 I am surprised though by how well acted most of this is, even though most of these "kids" look like they're pushing 30.

This pilot highlights every single possible flaw the Velma show has because here’s this tangible proof of how making a good, modern, mature scooby doo take is very achievable. Kudos to the entire team for an incredible job!
Mindy Kaling's animated ego trip which shall not be named epitomizes the wrong way to make a modern 'Scooby Doo' take aimed at adults.
This pilot, in contrast, epitomizes the RIGHT way to do so. I can't wait for the next episode to premiere!
A job well done. One jeepers away from perfection, you might say. Excited to watch this unfold, and hopefully, episode two will finally come
Most respectful and loving modernization of the gang I have ever seen. The attention to detail is spectacular and the cast is top notch! You guys wove so much into one episode... As a lifelong fan, I am in awe. Truly perfection.
Thank you!
Tá ÓTIMO mesmo !!!
I was NOT expecting this to be network quality or better. As a huge Scooby Doo fan, I LOVED all of the references and the fact the characters still feel like themselves! ALSO THAT MAKEUP?? IMPRESSIVE AF

Chef's kiss. The perfect blending of the realness/supernatural aspects of mystery incorporated and the characters personalities and lives of the originals with a slight modern twist that makes it realistic. You managed to bring different aspects from the live action films as well as the different cartoon versions together expertly. The sound track was perfect. Everyone who worked in this project is talented and the script were flushed out perfectly as well as the character portrayal being spot on.

And don't forget the miner 49er reference
I like that Scooby Doo isn't talking that it's shaggy talking to him. It's like his coping mechanism for what's troubling him.
Having shaggy be this like mentally unstable tweaker Allah double tweaker ala fear the walking dead, Where we hear the voices of who he thinks is scooby talking to him would have also been cool
I think we all knew that, but as kids didn't fully grasp that. Since we did it with our dogs as well.
Scooby is like an emotional support animal. ☺️

This needs to be a full series!!
I am astounded at the quality of this. It looks like a real show! As a long-time fan of Scooby-Doo, I absolutely adore this! Keep up the fantastic work!!
This feels like something between a CW show and Buffy, and I am all for it. I've never been a big Scooby fan, but this has me vastly interested. I'm also loving the nods to the old shows.
Welcome....get ready to get hooked :)
I'm really glad this pilot hit 4M views. Congrats to everyone involved!
So many references, Miner 47, the demonitise, the hex girls, harvey birdman, The Pterodactly Ghost, The 13 Pillars seems to be 13 ghost related, "Imma Hex Girl" song from the witches ghost, and from the sounds of the phone call Vincent Van Ghoul. Super interesting to see the 13 ghost be represented by past Scooby villains, The Black Knight is next, would love to see The Creeper, and Charlie The Robot
Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law

I love how much emphasis is being put on how Daphne's parents are semi-abusive always trying to make her perfect, something they've hinted at in previous series' but never fully committed to
When the Hex Girls hit the stage, a wave of nostalgia ran over me! Such a great addition to the show. Hope we get more episodes soon.
Lol, me too. I started singing along.
@@Joutja123 fucking same lmao
Except they were not really bad where as this makes them bad so they ruined them. Also, this is not scooby doo, scooby mysteries incorporated or any other association of scooby doo. Dafiny easnever a mean girl, Fred's parent never died, Velma's mother was never bad or an alcoholic and shaggy wasn't a drug dealer or doper. The most he did was pot. And scooby always backed up shaggy. They never opened any porthole to h*ll and the miner and the black night along with the pterodactyl guy were just people in masks not signs from h*ll or pawns of it.
This completely ruins what scooby doo actually is and if you get any form on nostalgia from this then you have no real idea what scooby doo and the mystery gang really are. This doesn't deserve to de associated with mystery incorporated or any scooby doo brand!!!
@@jessicapearson9479 u know I know what u mean but this is a different retelling so things are a different story It doesn't have to be the same exact story tbh
Hex Girls' words about 1 got caught and there are 12 more made me know which specific Scooby-Doo cartoon this show is inspired by. Aside from the types of ghosts we know from Where Are You Scooby-Doo? and later seasons, so to speak.

I'm not necessarily a fan of the whole "edgy" aspect shows are going for these days. But since it's Scooby-Doo, I gave it a chance. I can't say I love it... But I certainly didn't hate it. It kept me interested, and I loved that they used actual villains and characters from the animated seasons of the show. It managed to go its own route while still remaining faithful to the source material.
Yeah i dont know how to feel about it but i do love it and the plot. My problem is is how they always cast like 20-30 year olds to play teenagers fred looks old
@@_jules_life lol. I did notice that Fred and Daphne, especially, look older than the typical teenager. But they still pulled it off, I guess. Apparently, Daphne's actress is younger than me -- she was born in '96. So...yeah, that surprised me.
I don't think they look old, per se. But they certainly don't look like teenagers, yeah.
I am really hoping they actually have the Hex Girls be good like in the cartoon. because they look bad, but they are really good.

This production was a respect to every true Scooby Doo fan. The trailer gave a clear picture of the expected theme which didn't disappoint.
Quite an inspiration for the future of fan films .
Much appreciated.
You don't speak for all of us.
@@DazraelArianos I know. There is always one .
@@jerryterwase9027 this is an epicly disappointing first episode with minimal respect to the origional and zero creativity. They should have just made it a new show instead of butchering Scoobydoo (again). This feels like it's based off those terrible live action movies.
@@DazraelArianosI want you to know that I understand the angle you're coming from.
However, the first thing I do when viewing a ' fan film' is appreciating the effort and time taken towards working on property which belongs to a larger corporation with limited budget to express a view on how a minor yet creative take on certain popular characters can be expressed .
Had this production been made with a 200 million dollar budget with known Hollywood stars released on Netflix I would probably have been disappointed with what I just watched. I view such productions as an expensive pitch to concepts that can really yield to a fresh take in future for a newer generation of audiences.
@@jerryterwase9027 I want you to know that I understand your percpective. A low budget horror/mystery with a bunch of no name actors should not be expected to be knock your socks off amazing.
That is entirely separate from my point though.
My angle is this is not Scoobydoo. This is the names and general appearance of the main characters sloppily slapped onto any high school comedy/drama.
My angle is if the adaptation changes everything except general appearance and names than the only reason for keeping what little they did from Scoobydoo is the nostalgia to bring in fans of the old product.
My angle is if this had been it's own creation it would have gotten a pass based on the points you made but since it proclaimed itself Scoobydoo it didn't get a pass because it is a lousy Scoobydoo. Neither a bigger budget or better actors would have made this Scoobydoo. If the makers were trying to actually make Scoobydoo they could have with a $1000 budget, a tourist quality camera, and actual high school students.
This series had great potential, and its sad to know it will wont continue, as of the news from their Instagram account today. Thank you for all the energy put into this project, I will continue to love all 53:30 of it.
This is a great starting point. The costume designs, the story, the chemistry between characters, absolutely superb. Some of the acting with the supporting cast feels a little hokey, but the main cast nail their characters so well. Good luck, Mystery Inc.
I've just finished viewing this Pilot Episode. The actors and actresses did some AMAZING work. How is it that an independent production team can stay more faithful to the original source materials than WarnerMedia itself? This is much superior to that abortion that HBOmax Shat out. Kudos to you all.
Probably a combination of weak writers with the ideology and sense of impunity of these people plus theoretical trends and the awareness that some people will watch anyway despite the hate.

It could be that TPTB took a page from Disney and didn't do any reasearch into the canon of Scooby Doo. They are trying to use it to cram a new set of ideas into children's minds.
Because HBO are WOKE! They want to "diversify" by touching all the colors and doesn't care about becoming faithful to the story and source materials.
